Had lunch behind wall. This is furthest point from car & had completed 6 miles.Picking up a small path back towards Kentmere soon joined main path to top of Mardale Ill Bell. continued along ridge, dropping down to Nan Bield Pass & turning right down steep path towards Kentmere. continued along main path picking up bridleway & easy paths back to church. 12.34miles with 3,165ft of elevation. [with] With Freya Gray, Jazz and Mya. [weather] Forcast predicted 3 degrees on top. It was a lot colder than that with cutting icy winds on ridge, hail on High Street & Nan Biled Pass into Kentmere. When sun was out you could feel the warmth in it.

Did this walk again on 8/9/15 when it was sunny & clear & started the ascent by Hallow Bank Quarter up to Mardale III Bell & the down via Froswick etc. This is a much better ascent in my opinion but is a long slog for about 5 hours until you hit III Bell. Allow 7 hours for this circular.

[weather] Weather was good at lake side but deteriorated as we climbed. Visibility was about 40 m on the ridge & the wind was blowing hard at times. - Met two miserable walkers at the Shelter who advised us not to go on top but the wind died down by High street.

This walk was programmed for 17/7 but brought forward. A really hard but good days walking with a lot of laughs. Thornthwaite had to be included as we were there & Ros wasn't.
