We then descended down to Warnscale Bottom & back to the car for an well earned Ice Cream. [with] Alison my wife and two lads James and Thomas [weather] A hot sunny day - A weeks holiday in the Lakes with the family & this was one of the boys very first mountains & an awesome day out.

[weather] Beautiful sunny day, a bit cold on the summits, occasionally cloudy. - Final assent of Haystacks a bit of a scramble, had lunch at the top 1245hrs.

Walked along Crummock water from Scale bridge Scale force, traversing Starling Dodd to join ridge path to top of Great Bourne returning via Starling Dodd & on to Red Pike & High Stile & High Crag & across to Haystacks. [with] With Mya my faithful Patterdale Terrier. [weather] Weather blustery with occasional showers with some strong cool winds for August! - Once bagged, headed to Fleetwith Pike & home as the legs were getting tired now!

Looking from Haystacks to Fleetwith Pike we felt we could never make it but it wasn't that bad. Nice view of the slate mine on the way up & the view across Buttermere & Crummock Water was amazing. Very fast down to the car but a bit of a scramble.
