[weather] Clear, fine and a beautiful sunny day for late September. - Parked car at Cow Bridge car park. (donation into box). Commenced at 0945hrs. and stuck to the route apart from not visiting the top of Cauldale Head to take in the views. The good weather certainly brought out individual groups of walkers so we were not alone. Arrived back to the car at 1515hrs. After a thoroughly enjoyable day.

John Bryers climbed on August 1st, 2019 [from/via/route] Parked at Cow Bridge, Hartsop. Up Hartsop Dodd and across to Caudale Moor via Stony cove Pike. Down steep front edge of High Hartsop Dodd to Dovedale Beck and on past Brothers Water to car at Cow Bridge with a total of 9.3 miles with 3,896 feet of elevation gained. Kevin Foster bagged on May 28th, 2019 [from/via/route] Hartsopp Dodd. [with] Henry. [weather] Sunny and hot becoming cloudier later on with a cold northerly breeze. - The wall can be followed down to the col and then virtually to the summit of Stony Cove Pike which lies some 25 metres or so to the left of the wall. John Bell's Banner the alternative but slightly lower top can be seen over to the right but it is a good way there and back over the vast moor. Wainwright recommends keeping to the Threshwaite side of the wall, there is no real path to follow but the views are worth it if you stick with it. Just a few metres South of the summit cairn is a rocky knoll with a fantastic panorama of the Southern Lake District in particular Lake Windermere, Morecambe Bay and out towards the Irish sea.

Elaine Evans hiked on May 2nd, 2019 [from/via/route] From car park at Hartsop, ascended steeply up to Hartsop Dodd, continued to Stony Cove Pike, followed path and descended to cull then up to Thornthwaite Crag and on to Gray Crag before returning to Hartsop. Similar route to c231. [with] Sue [weather] Mostly dry, warm in some places but also a welcome cool breeze at times. Rained for last 10 minutes of walk but still quite pleasant. - Missed you CJ! [weather] Cloudy morning breaking out into a sunny afternoon. - Steep ascent of Hartsop Dodd, with snow patches on the hill face and full snow cover on top. The stone wall along the ridge provided an easy to follow handrail to Stony Cove Pike, but snow depth increased to about 6-inches (and deep areas of drift). Snow hid the path into the valley bottom, with the river tributaries forming a target on the descent.

John Tippins walked up on April 12th, 2016 [from/via/route] Hartsop [with] Solo [weather] Weather was lousy in the morning - rain and very low cloud. Didn't venture out until the afternoon, which was a lovely sunny day though a bit blowy and chilly on top.

Nick Dobson climbed on April 8th, 2017 [from/via/route] Kirkstone Pass summit car park [with] Margaret & Ralph [weather] hot and sunny - Hartsop Dodd also completed but we had to change start point as Hartsop car park was full

Colin Egan bagged on April 5th, 2017 [from/via/route] Continuation from Gray Crag, 6th of 6 fells today. Approached via flank of Thornthwaite Crag and Theshthwaite Mouth. Not an enjoyable route up onto no 6. [with] My wife Faith [weather] Sunny day with some cloud, wind cold and strong on summit. - Walk as far as Threshthwaite Mouth was pleasant but the climb up the flank of Threshthwaite Crag was not much fun, scrambling where there is no clear path ahead and one felt almost as though the next leg up was too high. The route down towards Kirkstone Pass was OK but boring and boggy. The last bit after more than 12 miles was almost as hard as the earlier climb, the path down under St Raven's Edge was steep and rocky and tired legs did not appreciate it! The drinks we had in the Kirkstone Inn were some compensation for the hard slog at the end of an excellent day out on the fells.

Michael Nolan hiked on February 14th, 2017 [from/via/route] cowbridge [weather] beautiful cold and clear

For some reason Wainwright does not offer this as a route in his guide book although the route is shown on the map.

Anthony Scott bagged on April 19th, 2016 [from/via/route] Cow Bridge car park, Hartsop [with] me [weather] Perfect! Sunny and light winds - Nice easy stroll from Hartsop Dodd. Could be boggy in wet weather though? Great Lakeland views from Caudale Moor viewpoint.
