Crib Goch
923m (3029ft)

The Snowdon Area, Snowdonia, Gwynedd, Wales

Crib Goch means 'Red Ridge' in Welsh and is pronounced 'kreeb g-och'.

The summit of Crib Goch is marked by a rocky outcrop.

The Crib Goch ridge is not for the faint hearted. It is very exposed and airy in places and can be extremely dangerous - particularly in adverse weather conditions.

Gerald Murphy walked up Crib Goch on September 4th, 2014 [from/via/route] See my notes on Crib y Disgl (Carnedd Ugain) [with] Harry Chadwick [weather] Fine, sunny, dry - Not nearly as bad as I had been led to believe. The ascent to the start of the arete is a bit of a slog but the rfidge itself is just fun. It seemed to me that as long as you keep an eye on what's ahead & what's immediately underfoot it isn't difficult to find your way across safely. Even on the Pinnacles going over the first two directly isn't really a problem - plenty of handholds & footholds. The upwards path round the right of the 3rd is clearly visible from the 2nd Pinnacle. Once your over that it's great to look back. We went ovefr early on a weekday, leaving Pen y Pass at about 7am. No car park problems & nobody else about at all. Just one other walker overtook us at the start of the arete as we had a photo break.
