James Hughes walked up on June 11th, 2025 [from/via/route] c183 Lord's Seat & Graystones from Whinlatter Forest [weather] Warm sunny day - Walk from Whinlatter Forest car park (expensive). Difficult working out tracks up towards Barf & ended up going to Lord's Seat first, which involved out & back to Barf. Fairly easy ascent across to Broom Fell. Short steep climb up to Graystones & steep descent to halfway path into forest. Wound way up to Whinlatter, but route not clear. Involved steep ascent on trods to find ridge path - not great. Path continues to forest fence then back to start. Pint at Coledale Inn - Force Crag.

Christine Shepherd walked up on July 31st, 2009 [from/via/route] Walked from Whinlatter Forest Park [with] On my own [weather] Rather overcast with rain in the afternoon. - Got rather muddled at the start of this walk with all the different paths in the forest but had a lovely walk once I got out on the fells. Didn't actually bag Whinlatter itself on this occasion due to the rain. Climbed again on 21.6.19 while bagging Ullister Hill & again on 12.6.21 Climbed for a fourth time on 24.07.23.

Set out from Whinlatter Forest Park via Combe Beck & Beckstone Plantation & then popped out onto the hill & upto Barf. From here we followed the ridge onto Lord's seat. [with] Tess (Jack Russell) [weather] Windy day with high cloud & sunny intervals.

Sadly, the heat meant no more tops, but a lovely cool descent through the forest.

[weather] Horizontal freezing rain driven by gale force winds. - The weather was impossible, we walked doubled up to Lords Seat to keep the freezing rain off our faces, nearly blown off my feet on the top, water proof covers on the ruck sacks ripped off by the wind. Enough was enough, turned back at this point.
