Scafell Pike
978m (3210ft)
The Southern Fells, The Lake District, Cumbria, England
Scafell Pike is the highest point in the county of Cumbria, the highest point in The Lake District National Park and the highest point in England. It was also the highest point in the old county of Cumberland.
Scafell Pike the highest point of 'The Pikes of Sca Fell'. This was the collective term for all the lumps and bumps on the top of the Sca Fell Massif (namely Sca Fell Pike, Sca Fell, Symonds Knott, Broad Crag, Ill Crag and Great End) when it was donated to The National Trust by Lord Leconfield in 1919. Sca Fell Pike became Scafell Pike (without the space) due to an error by the Ordnance Survey and the name stuck.
In good weather you can see mountains in Wales, Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man from the summit of Scafell Pike so try and go in on a clear day.
At an elevation of 832m (2,731ft), Broad Crag Tarn is the highest body of standing water in England. It can be found approximately 420 m south west of the summit of Scafell Pike.

Fellow go4awalkers who have already walked, climbed, summited & bagged Scafell Pike
John Fenwick walked up on October 11th, 2020 [from/via/route] Walked from Wasdale head inn carpark. Used walk c197 [with] Romany [weather] Sunny with some clouds. Great visibility - Stuck to walk as recommended. Easy to follow. Great way to avoid the crowds going up Scarfell Pike.
Andrew Mills climbed on August 22nd, 2020 [from/via/route] Main Route from Wasedale Head Car park [with] Matthew, Danny, Olly, Cat weasel, Ben, Jake [weather] Windy and wet !!! - As part of the 3 peak challenge
Liz Sheerin bagged on August 24th, 2020 [from/via/route] Wasdale Head [with] Neil [weather] Sunny - Camping in Wasdale Head
Toby Norman hiked on July 6th, 2019 [with] TWAC
Claire Murray summited on August 17th, 2020 [from/via/route] Started at village green near hotel. Walked Lingfell, Scafell, Pike, Scafell and the other one I've forgotten 🙈 [with] Murray [weather] Lovely! - Uphill struggles!
Martin Mayoh conquered on August 9th, 2020 [from/via/route] Seathwaite Farm [with] Christopher, Elizabeth Mayoh Niamh , Donal, Shaun [weather] Excellent
Caroline Winter scaled on August 11th, 2018 [from/via/route] Seathwaite, Grains Gill, Broad Crag, Sca Fell Pike, Ill Crag, Great End. Bagged 2nd time from Scafell on 31/7/2020 [with] Becky [weather] warm, clear skies, light breeze - obviously a tiring walk. Sca Fell Pike heaving with people taking selfies. Some bottled it at Broad Crag, not wanting to do the steep descent and climb up to the top- shame. Thought Ill Crag was opposite Broad Crag but worked it out on ScaFell Pike and made for it on return.
Tony Kenny walked up on June 21st, 2015 [with] Kitty [weather] Poor visibility Brown Tongue and above - June 21st saw dozens of 3 peak challengers on the Scafell route. 2 way radios abound, lots of shouting and most worryingly; many lost walkers.
Marcelle Allman climbed on August 2nd, 2020 [from/via/route] Wasdale Head [weather] Weat overcast
Rich Roberts bagged on August 2nd, 2020 [with] Marcelle
