Started at Pheasant. Meandered up through the forest to exit gate onto Fell. Steep brisk climb up Rivins & then out over to Sale Fell. Interesting top, reminded me of Meal Fell. Dropped down into valley up tree lined road to base of Ling Fell. Took second path on left, marked by cairns to top of Ling Fell. Good views all around. Nice gentle walk back on road to Old Scales farm before skirting Fell & returning to gate into forest. Returned to Pheasant via same route out. Pleasant pint of Fell Walker (Bowness Bay Brewery) in Pheasant.

From here I dropped down in to Eskin & up on to Sale Fell then returned Southwards to Old Scales Farm & worked my way up on to Broom. Traversed to Lord's seat & a quick out & back to Barf. From here I went around Ullister Hill & up on to Whinlatter Top on to Brown How & back down to the car. [with] On my Own [weather] Dry Day with Hazy views early doors although it did become sunny & clear in the afternoon, but stayed cold all day.

Clare Tait walked up Ling Fell (Wythop) on October 25th, 2021 [from/via/route] B road off A66 pull in near church. Circular route. [with] Charlie [weather] Dry & bright with a cooling breeze & rainbows all around. Rain was seen falling but we kept miraculously dry. - No. 76 Wainwright. Beautiful walk although followed the route too strictly & missed the easier paths on a couple of occasions. Completed along with Sale Fell. Beautiful area & lovely walking.

Super windy at top but beautiful sunset - Paths from Little Cockup direct to road not on OS Maps. Head SW from Little Cockup at about 390m. Takes you to main trail heading down the middle of the fell.

We sat on the grass below the bench for quite a while whilst we had our sandwiches & tea.

Very quiet, only one other couple on Fell just as we were about to leave. Very easy gentle climb via the corpse road. [with] Beth and Jake - the chocolate labrador [weather] clear blue skies, quite warm & a little hazy - a great way to spend my birthday followed by an enjoyable pint & sandwich at the Dog & Gun in Keswick.

Met an 80 odd year old chap who was just on his way down who looked like he had just trotted up Sale Fell & had had a hip replacement only 6 weeks prior. Hope I'm that fit at 80 odd.
