Set off up to Small Water (coffee) & then gradually up the hill behind the tarn up to Nan Bield. From there we ascended Harter Fell. From the top of Harter Fell we descended to Gatesgarth Pass & then up again (bit of a slog) up to Branstree. From Branstree we walked past the 'monoliths' & on to Selside ( I diverted to look at the 'Pillar'). After Selside we descended in an easterly direction & joined the Old Corpse Road & followed it down to the road by Haweswater. [with] Jen [weather] Fairly still with some cold wind on the tops. Cloud developed but there was no wind. - Some interesting ruined buildings on the way down.

The route took us up by Gatesgarth Beck to Gatesgarth Pass, then turned right & followed the route up to Harter Fell. We then carried on to Mardale Ill Bell then on to High Street, Rampsgill Head then to Kidsty Pike & then descended to Haweswater & back round to Mardale Head Car Park. [with] Ray Collins [weather] From what I can remember it was a fine day.

Kevin Foster scaled Harter Fell (Mardale) on April 28th, 2019 [from/via/route] Rough crag via Small water & Nan bield pass. [with] Henry. [weather] Clouds but with sunny breaks & clear visibility. Very warm when the sun was out. - This is a very tough ascent route via Blea water & Small water over rough, boggy & very often path less terrain. In hindsight probably would've been better to have left Rough Crag for a separate day & tackled Harter Fell by the more conventional route from High Street over Mardale Ill Bell.

Some guide books( not Wainwright) show a path from Kentmere Pike down to Wrengill Quarry. There is no obvious path & the bottom is now a plantation for new trees so not recommended.

Rain started around Small Water on descent. - Tilly fell on descent & got nice bump near left eye!

Up the Old Copse Road to Selside Pike then across the ridge in a horseshoe to the last Wainwright which was Kidsty pike. [with] We took a Spanish boy called Seb who loved it and introduced him to Tunnock's Caramel Wafers. Oviously Marcus was with me. Navigating in extream conditions! [weather] Weather was good at lake side but deteriorated as we climbed. Visibility was about 40 m on the ridge & the wind was blowing hard at times. - Met two miserable walkers at the Shelter who advised us not to go on top but the wind died down by High street.
