Neil Walker walked up on August 25th, 2025 [from/via/route] Layby near Brownrigg farm [with] Emma and Sophie [weather] Sunny - Perfect weather on August bank holiday 2025. Gentle diagonal path up the fell. So much easier than Little Mell Fell!

Geoff Hand climbed it on February 28th, 2025 [from/via/route] Parking close to Brownrigg Farm we first headed to up to Great Mell fell. A steep decent & a pleasent walk aroun the foot of the hill then passed Brownriig farm to Greenrow farm & upto Littel Mell Fell. Then a Southern decent & then headed West & back towards Brownrigg Farm. [with] With Claire my daughter [weather] Beautiful sunshine all day. - amazing views of Helvelyn massive, Coledale, Blencathra with Skiddaw in the background not to mention all the fells to the East of Ullswater. Cracking day!

Enjoyable despite the rain.

John Bryers scaled on May 20th, 2021 [from/via/route] Parked at Matterdale End (Just up road near Broenrigg Farm on left just after lane running along side Great Mell Fell). Taking the lane on left, over a style about 500m up lane onto fell. Path runs along edge of wooded area, rising steelply onto ridge. Walked ridge to Larch & Oak wood & on to top where we found a smaall cairn marking the top. Good views, but it was raining & limited views acros Helvelyn range a little. [with] With Bill Dale and Mark (Karens boyfriend)and Mya Poppy (Who was sick in my car enroute for walk!). [weather] Forcast spot on, rain at 10am, rained throughout the walk with some string wind at times. Most unpleasant, especially the latter part of the walk after lunch from car. - We returned to car for coffee & shelter due to rain. Set off towards Little Mell Fell & Gowbarrow, but got rained off & did a small circular route via 'The Hill' & back along road to car for drying out & some lunch.
