Gerald Murphy climbed it on August 4th, 2014 [from/via/route] Nant Peris Park & Ride car park, on the way out following the route on page 2 of the Go4aWalk route sheet for the Welsh 3000s. ie Turn right just after the Vaynol Arms by the old chapel, along the metalled road & following the 2nd signed footpath by the next to last house. From there across several stiles uphill, crossing the Dudodyn by a metal bridge. For a considerable distance then across boggy (very boggy) ground until after 2 zig zags around fences before the real slog begins. The path is clear but the summit of Elidyr Fawr never seems to come closer for ages. All of a sudden, when you're convinced that the apparent peak will be a false summit, a quick clamber over large boulders takes you straight to the cairn & windbreak. From there the views are spectacular across the reservoir with clear sight of Carnedd Filiast & Mynydd Perfedd. It was tempting to do a dash to include Carnedd Filiast but I knew that I had already budgeted for an 8 hour day. When heading for Mynedd Perfedd keep close to the fence on the skyline - the lower path will mean an unnecessary climb up to Mynedd Perfedd. From the windbreak the path to Foel Goch & Y Garn is really clear. Foel Goch is scaled faster than it looks & has spectacular views across Nant Ffrancon. Y Garn makes a nice end to the walk out with great all round views. There seem to be lots of cairns to mark the approach on the path. I took a different route back using the ridge between the two rivers (Afon Padr & Afon Dudodyn). This was a great path to begin with across open, grassy countryside but, the path all but disappears by the time you are in sight of Nant Peris. Next time I'll descend from Llyn Cwn. [with] alone. [weather] Sunny but following a weekend of rain, light wind, highish summer cloud. - No other comments

Simon Neilson-Clark bagged it on June 18th, 2014 [from/via/route] Opposite circle to Tryfan [with] Mrs H [weather] Sunshine - Nice ridge walk The end with a view of the lake
