Kevin Foster summited Lovely Seat on July 11th, 2017 [from/via/route] Great Shunner Fell [with] By myself (and Henry my Labrador) [weather] Cloudy (light rain). Tops clearing out by mid afternoon. - Although route finding wasn't a problem off Great Shunner Fell to the road summit at Buttertubs pass (the cloud on the top had cleared off by now), the walking was very rough across bog & heather moor. The steep slog alongside the fence to the summit of Lovely Seat was rewarded by the extensive views & having the top to myself (and a few hungry sheep). In descent I headed for the prominent cairn on the escarpment overlooking the road summit & then took the best line I could through more grass & bog to High & Low Midstones before eventually reaching the road. At High Shaw I turned down the lane & entered the wooded confines of the beck that fed Hardraw Force which eventually returned me to my starting point. As I hadn't paid to get in I thought it only right to buy a pint of TT's Landlord at The Green Dragon to make amends.
