[weather] Beautiful sunny day, a bit cold on the summits, occasionally cloudy. - Approached the summit via Hay Stacks and Dubbs Quarry. The descent back to the car park a little demanding with the children, (they loved it), Finished walk at 1715hrs. with a well deserved ice cream from the refreshment wagon. Had tea at the Fish Inn, Buttermere. Thoroughly enjoyable day out.

Caroline Winter climbed on August 13th, 2018 [from/via/route] Honister slate mine, Brandreth, Fleetwith Pike [with] Becky [weather] Fog, low cloud and poor visibility on tops - walked on a bearing. Cut across slate mine to Black Star. Walked off Fleetwith Pike with another 2 ladies with their dogs. Would have liked to walk the edge off Fleetwith Pike but ladies made for slate mine path. As views none existent today we did same

Walked along Crummock water from Scale bridge Scale force, traversing Starling Dodd to join ridge path to top of Great Bourne returning via Starling Dodd and on to Red Pike and High Stile and High Crag and across to Haystacks and across to Fleetwith Pike and home down the fantastic ridge. [with] With Mya my 11 year old and now tiring faithful Patterdale Terrier. [weather] Weather blustery with occasional showers with some strong cool winds for August! - Once bagged, headed home down ridge and back along footpath on west side of Buttermere.

Looking from Haystacks to Fleetwith Pike we felt we could never make it but it wasn't that bad. Nice view of the slate mine on the way up and the view across Buttermere and Crummock Water was amazing. Very fast down to the car but a bit of a scramble.
