Kevin Foster summited Buckden Pike on July 27th, 2017 [from/via/route] Buckden [with] Just me and my labrador Henry [weather] Light rain turning heavier for a while then clearing out by mid-afternoon then sunny. - This was actually my third visit to Buckden Pike this year and certainly the wettest! Previous visits had been from Starbotton via the Walden 'road' and a full length excursion up Waldendale from West Burton. Today was by the more 'traditional' route of Buckden Rake. I set off with high hopes after checking the forecast on the MWIS. The light rain would pass or so I thought. About half way up the weather took a turn for the worst and became a heavy downpour and the cloud dropped in. This wasn't in the forecast? Anyway, I didn't hang about at the summit and carried on through very soggy conditions to the Polish Memorial and on to the Walden 'road' and my escape route. I will be back though maybe to try the waterfalls and scrambling up Buckden Ghyll. I didn't fancy it today because I had Henry with me.
