Wild Stripes ™ baselayers are most definitely stripey and are available in a gloriously cheerful 'palette' of colour combinations. Never have base layers looked so much fun!
However this isn't just about 'look', they do function well too. I've been wearing the Long Johns over the last few weeks or so - under walking trousers for some low level walking trips in the Cheshire countryside (4-5 degrees C plus significant wind) but even around town under jeans as colder conditions finally arrived.
The polypropylene knitted fabric feels soft against your skin, does have good thermal properties and seems to wick well. I always have a slight 'angst' about the odour retention of polyproylene based garments but I read that modern day yarns are constructed to minimise this and this seems to be borne out here. The odour retention was pretty minimal. In any case the Wild Stripe Long Johns have washed well - and they do dry very quickly.
The design is quite basic - these are a pull-on garment. The fit is good - I was wearing a medium size and I'm female, usually a standard size 12 and 5'7''. The body fit was just right, the leg length perhaps very slightly long.
Wild Stripes Long Johns are good, general use, thermal base layers - particularly if you want something that looks just a little bit different.
