The Eastern Cairngorms area of Scottish Region 8: The Cairngorm Mountains region is the area enclosed by an imaginary line connecting:
- Nethy Bridge to Grantown-on-Spey via the River Spey to the North West
- Grantown-on-Spey to Bridge of Gairn via the A939 to the East
- Bridge of Gairn to Linn of Dee via the A93 to Braemar & then the the River Dee to the South
- Linn of Dee to Nethy Bridge via Lui Water, Derry Lodge, Glen Derry, Coire Etchachan Burn, Lairig an Laoigh, Allt an t-Seallaidh, Lochan a' Bhainne, Glasath and Allt Bheadhair to the West
If you count only the Marilyns there are 14 tops to climb, bag & conquer and the highest point is Beinn a' Bhuird (North Top) at 1,197m (3,929ft).
