Merrell says:"This half-zip pullover in merino wool delivers high athletic function and unmatched, simple style. Perfect for anything from running in the dewy dawn to cruising in the evening. Merrell Bio-Blend™ merino wool is a natural insulator that keeps you warm even when it's damp and wicks away perspiration like nature's own high-tech fabric. Looks great over a shirt, but it's so soft you can wear it alone."

Features to Note:

In-use Test:

Material: I've worn this as a base layer during a number of days' walking around the Peak District during the early winter. A really very soft, warm and lightweight garment that kept me very comfortable throughout several long days walking.

Fit/Design: I'm 5' 8'' and medium build. This is a relatively slim fitting garment with generous sleeve length.

Wicking Properties: As I expected from a Merino garment, the wicking properties are very good. The odour masking is also great so I can see this will be useful on some of my planned backpacking trips as well.

Buying Advice:

This is probably not aimed at the hard-core, high mountain walker. However, if you're looking for a base layer for lower level walking during the winter/autumn or for a garment for use on its own on cool summer evenings in the mountains then certainly consider this. It's a great alternative if you're looking for a well-made garment that is not based on a synthetic material.
