In-use Test:

The Craghoppers Kiwi is an attractive looking waterproof jacket. It's a good length for walking and the fit overall was true to size although - rather unusually - I did find that the sleeves were a little too long. There is a generous sized, fold away hood which provided good protection during some really quite prolonged rain.

There are two, zipped hand warmer pockets - which were just about accessible whilst wearing a backpack. There is also a zipped pocket in the front chest designed to be large enough for an os map. I found that this was only just big enough so it was really awkward actually extracting the map to use.

However, I think my main disappointment was that whilst the jacket is certainly waterproof, the breathability was not great - although admittedly I do tend to 'run hot'. I was surprised to see that after a couple of hours of persistent drizzle on my first trip, it did start to 'wet-out' which no doubt contributed to the problems with the breathability. Because the elasticated sleeve cuffs were a little tight on me, there was also no air flow up my arms which made matters worse.

Buying Advice:

Not the best option for higher energy activities, however the Craghoppers Kiwi Gore-Tex is an attractive looking, combination leisure plus low level summer walking jacket.
