I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near Hexham
My Message: I have always been a keen rambler and have walked in most areas of England, Wales and Scotland. I retired last year (2024) and in June walked (solo backpacking/camping) the Cleveland Way and in October the West Highland Way. I intend to walk the Pennine Way this summer and it would be great to have a companion to enjoy nature and the outdoors. I am reasonable fit but not as fast going uphill as I used to be but then it's not a race sufficient to travel at a pace to appreciate the surroundings!
As part of training I intend to complete some of the Wainwright's I've yet to scale … I'm about 2/3 of way … mostly the more southerly ones to tackle.
My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9:
My Preferred Walk Areas:
Southern Scotland; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire;

A bit more about me:
I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops.
I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on.
I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other.
Even if I say so myself, I consider my map reading & navigation skills to be excellent.
I can drive and have a car.
I am also interested in:
- Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
- Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
- Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
- Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;
I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .
