I am a Male Walker, in my late 60s, based near Burnley

My Message: Hi, my name is John, aged 67, widower. I am getting back into walking after a 30 year break! I have joined a couple of walking groups recently and have been doing 7 to 9 mile walks, some with steep ascents. I'm ideally looking for a single mature female to become a regular walking companion. (Maybe something serious / long term, if we get along). I enjoy leisurely strolls of between two and twelve miles, taking in the countryside and environment. I used to sketch and take photos, so any walk would be a leisurely one, taking time, and not a route march!. I particularly like walking in North Yorkshire around Settle, Grassington, Howarth and East Lancashire, around Burnley & Pendle. I enjoy anything from canal walks to what might be termed 'medium' grade but will go for the occasional more challenging trip.
Being retired I can be reasonably flexible re weekdays or weekends, ideally East Lancs, North Yorks area, as I do not drive, (my late wife was the driver and I was the navigator.) I say my map-reading skills are fine and have so far kept me from going astray! Even on Ingleborough, in mist!.
I'm happy to put in a bit of effort to get the best out of the scenery. I have a quiet nature, non-smoker, seldom drink, interested in History, the countryside, nature, art, varied musical taste. Happy to have a bit of a natter and something to eat en route or at the end of the day.
When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, I don't mind the rain as long as it's not torrential, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? I've got waterproofs so I am ok. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. My map reading & navigation skills are usually fine. Unfortunately I do not drive, so need a friend who can drive or meet locally. I have a bus pass !

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West England; Yorkshire;

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in most weathers but do not like snow and ice. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I don't drive.

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .
