I am a Male Walker, in my early 40s, based near Castleford

My Message: Hi my name is john 43, i live in castleford, i havent done much walking over the last few years due to one thing and another, i used to walk Snowdon regularly, after aching after a steady 6 mile walk recently i realised i am not the man i once was and i aim to get on top of my health and change my lifestyle, i am looking for company on days out mainly on weekends, i enjoy walking near water but as long as the views are scenic its all good, i enjoy wildlife and i have a camera (novice at best)!!! I have most things need for a good day out walking equipment wise, i drive and travelling isn't an issue, i have no walks in mind at the moment so i am open to suggestions, i would how ever over the coming years like to tick off as many of wainwrights walks as i can.
So in short,
I am looking for a companion & friend
To walk,take in some lovely views, talk and have a laugh, while regaining fitness
And if i am totally honest getting out of the bloody house will do me the world of good to!!!

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 2:3:4:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West England; Yorkshire;

A bit more about me:

I really don't like Scrambling & Edges - they are defintely not for me. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. If pushed, I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are rather poor at best. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .
