I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Lake District hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello!

Currently I'm on a mission to bag all of the Wainwrights. Did a lot of hiking in Europe and participating in races like the Harz Mountains 100km race when I was younger, and a lot fitter! I suppose I'm trying to make up for lost time as there was a time when walking to the pub was a challenge. No longer drink (but will have a 0% beer at the end of a long walk!), Vegan for 10 years. Mainly been doing low level walks in the peak district over the last few years along with Mam Tor, Edale, Kinder Scout etc but now concentrating on Wainwrights. I'm quite happy walking on my own most of the time but it would be good to walk in a group, or with other hikers who had a similar outlook on life. My ultimate aim is to be fitter at 60 than I was at 30!! So if you fancy joining me say hello :)

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; Ulster (Uladh), Ireland Connacht, Ireland; Leinster (Laighin), Ireland; Munster (Am Mhumhain), Ireland;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Corby hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Just rediscovering my love of walking.
As a single man with a campervan (that doesn't sound in the slightest bit dodgy does it) I love the tranquility of being out in the countryside or on the coast with my muppet dog but I'm getting bored with my own company and would like to find local people to enjoy the outdoors with.
As lockdown comes to an end im looking forward to getting back out hopefully in the sunshine but think I am going to have to work on my fitness.

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have my own Campervan/Motorhome.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near London hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live in London, but have done lots of long distance path walking and a fair bit of mountain walking in Scotland, Arran, Cairngorms, Mull... I would love to explore more of the countryside, mostly the northern half of the country and Ireland, which I'm sorry to say I've never been to!

I work part-time as a bicycle instructor, helping people to be confident riding on the road. I'm fairly flexible about when I can go away, because I pick my own hours :-).

Don't be put off by the fact that I live in London! I can travel!

I quite enjoy Scrambling & Edges but don't like too much exposure. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. If pushed, I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are rather poor at best. I can drive. I do not have my own vehicle but can borrow or rent one.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Near Lichfield hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hiya,
Looking forward to meeting fellow walkers for some every day fresh air and company. I am a bubbly chatty out going kind of person who enjoys being outdoors, walking and meeting new people.
I am looking to hopefully walk quite local but am also willing to travel as long as not too. I do not mind travelling around an hour tops for a day walk. I enjoy time away for walking if further afield.
I am only looking for company as I have a partner of 35 years plus but he is not keen or want to do any longer walks
Unfortunately I am unable to map read but I have a fairly good sense of direction and I do know a lot of walks in different places (can't promise I wont get anyone lost though)
Hope to meet like minded people who also would like to walk be it in a small group or just as a companion. Ideally I would like a walking buddy who can meet up every week for at least one good walk or more. I know life can be hectic but we all have to make time for ourselves at some point

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Stafford hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I live in the Staffordshire area and would like to meet male and female walking partners to walk locally and explore more of the UK. I walk my dogs each evening after work and like to try new routes over the weekend. I enjoy walking in the Peak District over the weekends as that is doable in a day. I am keen to learn new walking routes and I am open to suggestions. I am reasonably fit and can do a bit of scrambling but am not a climber. My map and navigation skills are not good, so would welcome someone with these skills so we don't get hopelessly lost (currently relying on google maps). I am easy going and enjoy cafe's and country pubs as part of the walk. I also enjoy theatre, comedy, eating out and riding pillion.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Exeter hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello,
Walking is my biggest hobby. I love walking around lovely places - for a few hours, a few days, a few weeks - enjoying views and just being. There are so many beautiful places we can see and enjoy!

I've been living in the UK for more then five years. Although I had traveled a lot before, I unexpectedly fell in love with this country and I've been staying and living here.
I have walked a few long distance trails in the UK on my own and in one go (e.g. The South Downs Walk, The Hadrian's Wall Path, The South West Coast Path, The Wales Coast Path,...) and I walk a lot on Dartmoor (which I love).
I would love to say that I am an experience walker and on a number of counts I am, however when it comes to navigation skills I am almost useless (although I believe not hopeless...).
I like discovering places off the beaten track and off-grid which can be a bit tricky sometimes when you are not good with navigation.
I love walking in the open countryside and by the sea, although I should say that I love walking wherever.
This summer (2021) I am going to walk The Cambrian Way and - considering my navigation skills - I'd like to find a friend to walk with me some more difficult parts.
I am a friendly, easy going, open minded and always in a good mood, positive thinking woman and I have a good sense of humour.
I love exploring and experiencing what I see around. If I have an opportunity to connect a walk to visiting historical places I am happy doing it. History is my hobby and I am also interested in photography, art, music, cooking,... Lena

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hoping to meet gentleman 50-65 for company on walks, runs and bike rides initially in the Yorkshire Dale's where I have a caravan base. Have walked Yorkshire 3 peaks on my own in 2019 and take part in trail running events in the Lakes and Yorkshire. I don't really like large group walks, preferring relative solitude!I work full time, often from home, and flexibly but would mainly be walking at weekends. Fitness is important to me, as is being out and about in the countryside. I like to challenge myself and would like to complete the Wainwright's and the Wales Coast Path in the next couple of years.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near West Yorkshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi all,

I'm a late-forties male, and I would like to meet new walking friends, male or female to spend time walking and enjoying our wonderful countryside and just being outdoors.

I enjoy all forms of walking, multi-day, long distance paths and less strenuous day walks too. Oddly enough my walks usually end at a nice country pub or two! There is nothing nicer than a lovely pub at the end of a great days walking.
I'm experienced at map reading and navigating and I enjoy the planning of walks on both traditional paper maps and also using GPS.
Sometimes I'll take a lightweight tent and camp and make it an outdoors weekend or stay in a B&B.
My 'bread and butter' walking area is Yorkshire but I'm equally happy anywhere in the countryside.

I work part-time; so I've some availability on a weekday and also some weekends too. If you want someone to walk with who ( probably!) won't get you lost and has a good sense of humour, that would be me! Please do drop me a line..

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Basingstoke hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: So glad that it's not long before we can start to plan new walks and won't be restricted to local walks.

I now work part time so have plenty of time to go walking locally and nationally. I am friendly and reliable and like to chat on a walk.

I am looking for people who love walking and are looking for someone to join them. I would like to meet someone who is also interested in walking some of our long distance paths. Sometimes we need a bit of motivation and encouragement and it is always better to have some company and support. Distance and speed are not that important. I equally enjoy local half day walks in the south of England to all day challenges in the mountains. But, it's always nice to end up in a country pub at the end of the day.

I am a reasonable map reader and whilst generally cautious by nature, I am fairly confident in the mountains. I have a car so can travel as necessary. I like to chat about about most things and it would be a bonus if you had a good sense of humour too. I'll try to respond to all responses.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live South of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. My other interests are landscape photography, art, city breaks and the theatre. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me, get in touch.

Chris

I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near Kent hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Spurred on by doing more challenging walks ahead of doing the Three Peaks Challenge 6 years ago I have continued to enjoy walks as often as I can. I am active and fully fit enjoying a variety of activities. I enjoy varied walks from relaxed countryside walks to something more challenging. Part of enjoying walks for me is good company. I am happy to enjoy a drink or meal afterwards and would like to plan multi day trips to enjoy something more interesting. Prefer mid-week although I could do weekend walks.   • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;
  • Road Cycling

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Suffolk hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Retired early to see the world just as it went into lockdown. Want to get out now and see more of our countryside and other countries.
No health problems but very unfit now after too much sitting in over the winter.
Used to 12 miles local walks. Have done half the Ridgeway wild camping until lockdown ended my attempt. Would like to do either Dales way or White Peak way in the early summer, camping or hosteling or a mixture. Also maybe the Suffolk Coast, Icknield way and open to ideas.
Enjoy a beer or two but not as many as I used to.
Do not like large groups and fairly quiet at first but once I'm comfortable I open up.
Happily married but can't explore the places I want to with the Mrs and her five dogs!

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
Southern Scotland; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; Wales; East Anglia; The Heart of England; South East England; South West England;

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;

  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Leicester hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Completely new to the board, but hey everyone has to start somewhere! Love walking/hiking obviously, but would love to think that I could share this with someone. I'm a loyal caring and down to earth guy who loves the Yorkshire Dales, Lakes and Peak District. Hoping you like these as well. Reasonably fit and regularly doing 6-8 miles walks each week, but interested in longer hikes. Happy to travel if you are a little further afield. Teach at a local uni (but not a serious academic at all - I teach surveying!). Enjoy my photography, although I do less now.
Anyway, hoping that someone on here might be interested in catching up, so please drop me a message if you'd like to.
Many Thanks
Jim

I am a Female Walker, in my early 30s, based near Selby hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hey, I'm very much a novice walker but thoroughly enjoy it! My current fitness levels allow me to stroll for about 5 miles although I'm hoping that I can improve this with lots of walks with a great companion:) I do have muscular dystrophy which means I may find it quite painful at times but having somebody next to me would distract me. I have a great sense of humour and I love bird watching so I'll be dragging my binoculars with me. I work during the week but free at weekends and also depending on how close we are, would love to walk early in the morning or late evenings on weekdays. I have my own car so willing to travel. Also partial to pub grub when the pubs are open! Don't be shy and say hi!

I really don't like Scrambling & Edges - they are defintely not for me. I prefer warm, dry & sunny weather but can cope with the odd shower. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. If pushed, I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are rather poor at best. I can drive and have a car.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Widnes hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello I have been walking mostly in the north west and Wales.
I enjoy being up and out early especially on a Sunday morning and in pretty much any weather conditions.
Before lockdown I completed the 1st section of the trans pennine trail from southport to hadfield in 4 days, I'm hoping to complete the hadfield to hornsea section when things return to some normality. In the meantime I am doing regular 15 to 20 mile walks around my own area mostly on off road pathways so I'm looking to get to know anyone who would be interested in joining me.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Stoke On Trent hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I'm a recently retired 62 year old living in the Staffordshire Moorlands. I moved here when I retired as I enjoy walking in the Peak District so much but also enjoy walking in other areas. Location isn't too important as I am prepared to travel to meet for a walk.

I am fit and competent and enjoy a challenging walk or an easy walk and I like to take in the views whichever. I am open to any level of walk as it's sometimes good to just get out and it's always good to find a good pub or cafe at the end. As well as walking I also enjoy running and cycling although I can just enjoy being outdoors watching and listening. It's the simple things in life that appeal to me most.

As much as I enjoy the outdoors it is by no means everything to me. I enjoy listening to a lot of music having a very broad taste and especially like live music but not in big venues. I also enjoy cinema and theatre or just having a chat in a café or pub with friends.

It would be great to share the outdoors and other things with a like minded woman though I have a very inquisitive mind and I'd be more than happy to be introduced to new interests.

My boring details are I'm single with no children or any other ties. I'm 5'8" and slim/average build.
