I am a Female Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Wigan hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, my name is Julie, I am single, 65yrs old, retired, loving life and enjoy walking. I would like to find either a female or male or small group of friends/like minded people to go out for the day or weekend exploring the countryside. I am not as fit as I would like to be and need to work on my fitness levels (a work in progress). Would like to think I am good company, good fun, easy going, enjoy a good laugh and enjoy a lively debate. I do have a small dog, so ideally would like to bring her along. My last walk was last year, CatBells in the lake district. Would really enjoy some good company and to the end the day in a nice pub with good food and a well earned drink.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West England; Yorkshire; Wales;

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Eden Valley, Cumbria hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I Live in the Eden valley in Cumbria & am looking to meet others for a ramble on the lakeland fells or further afield. I also enjoy moderate road cycling and running. I just love being outdoors really, and being fairly easy going am happy to meet up for doing any of the above at any level. I'm up for a pint afterwards but would be just as happy with coffee. I always work Sundays & Thursdays but am fairly flexible otherwise.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near West Yorkshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello. I'm looking for a male and female friends for local, regional or even national walks.

My mountaineering Welsh brother in law calls me a car park walker since I normally join 5-8 mile circular walks that don't involve needing to scramble down some hill on me bum. I enjoy scenery and wildlife and have pottered all around Yorkshire, Ambleside, Langdale Valley, Malvern Hills. I'm a '..have car, will travel...' kinda girl. I'm normally at church most Sunday mornings so evenings or Saturdays are best for me. My kind of walk ends with a pub as opposed to a tragic sandwich in my rucksack. I'm such a townie, I'm ashamed :-)

I also enjoy camping and fair weather cycling although a recent arm injury has clipped my wings on both. (no pun intended).

I'm rubbish at map reading and navigating although I am learning.

My Message: Hi there, Love being outdoors and my ideal day is a scenic walk at an amble pace rather than fast pace ramble as can take in surrounding scenery. Good map readers especially welcome as I was last in the queue when senses of direction were handed out! I'm free most weekends & Mondays..

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Stoke-on-trent hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I live on the edge of the Peak District and love the outdoors. I have walked all my life in most areas of the UK as well as internationally. I like trying new routes but I am also happy on old favourites watching them change with the seasons.

I am looking for people who don't take life too seriously, like a bit of adventure and enjoy exploring new areas. I took early retirement so can walk anytime. My ideal day out is a 5 to 15 mile walk including a coffee or other such beverage, a good chat and learning something new, from the history of the area to a new plant or bird call.

Many of my walks are currently in the Peak District but I will jump at the chance to travel to other areas. Recently I have also walked in Trossachs, North Downs and Snowdonia. I love being in the mountains but I am as happy viewing them from a longer walk through the valleys as climbing to the top.

My Message: I live in London, but have done lots of long distance path walking,including the SW coastal path and the Cumbria Way and a fair bit of mountain walking in Scotland: Arran, the Cairngorms, Mull, Assynt... I would love to explore more countryside, mostly the northern half of the country and Ireland, which I'm sorry to say I've never been to!

I was a bike commuter for many years which has given me a good level of fitness and I still love cycling in the city, preferring to mostly keep to quiet routes.

Don't be put off by the fact that I live in London! I can travel!!

My Message: Hello, I'm on the lookout for new walking companions that share my passion for walking in the hills. I try to get out into the North York Moors or Dales as frequently as possible. Weekends in Snowdonia and Cumbria are always treasured. I'm trying to expand my general wildlife knowledge and have also started dabbling in some basic foraging. I usually manage to walk abroad once a year (the Julian Alps in Slovenia are my absolute favourite). Would love to hook up with like minded folk to share a walk or two so please get in touch. I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near Manchester hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm ideally looking for an easy-going female to become a regular walking companion. I enjoy say 8 - 12 mile walks of what might be termed 'medium' grade but will go for the occasional more challenging trip. Being retired I can be reasonably flexible re weekdays or weekends, again ideally within a reasonable drive of Manchester; i.e. Lakes, Lancs, Peaks.

I say my map-reading skills are average but my investment in an OS Map App has so far kept me from going astray! I'm happy to put in a bit of effort to get the best out of the scenery, and have a bit of a natter and a pint or otherwise as just rewards at the end of the day.

Thanks / Dave

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Manchester hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, my name's Frank and I'm just the wrong side of 60 - or the right side depending on your viewpoint!

Four years ago I rediscovered walking and fell back in love with the great outdoors. I've spent much of that time in the Lakes, the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales and on long distance walks such as the Coast to coast and the Pennine Way.

Each year I choose a set of goals to complete, in 2023 I climbed every Ethel and visited every trig point in the Peak District and completed over half of the Pennine Way, this year I've walked the Coast to coast and have almost finished the GM Ringway, a 200 mile set of paths round Manchester. I've yet to decide what next year holds in store, though Hadrians Wall is whispering to me and I've one eye on the West Highland way and the other on the Dales Way in Yorkshire.

During this time I've walked alone, with family and friends and in organised groups. Along the way I've met many interesting people and after stumbling on this site I'm hoping to find walking companions with whom to share a pleasant day in the fresh air with some good company and some great tales to hear and tell.

I work full time so most of my excursions are at the weekend but I can get out on summer evenings round Manchester, though I'd have to work round other interests such as partner dancing. If you think a steep ascent is tough a couple of Argentine tango lessons will soon redefine your sense of difficulty!

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands;

A bit more about me:

I quite enjoy Scrambling & Edges but don't like too much exposure. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. Sadly, my map reading & navigation skills are pretty hopeless. I can drive and have a car.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 60s, based near Menston hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Dear fellow walkers
I'm a retired teacher living in Wharfedale hoping to meet like-minded individual(s) who share my passion for the countryside and the environment and would like a walking companion for the odd day out to the Dales initially.
I'm an experienced fell-walker and did MLC part 1 some time ago and certainly prefer maps to satnavs. However I also enjoy more modest valley walks (12-15 miles) and did the Offas Dyke path a few years ago.
I'm also a musician (singer and composer),keen gardener, environmentalist (CAT member), and amateur foraging mycologist who enjoys debate and discussion as well as silent observation of birds and wildlife when the time is right!
I have an electric car, largely solar powered and live 5 minutes walk from Menston station.
I'm walking the Hadrians wall coast to coast in the second week of September with HF holidays so need to improve my stamina and would welcome a companion for a 15 mile full day in the Yorkshire dales next week!

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Cardiff/swansea hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, thanks for dropping by.

Looking for some upbeat walking buddies to share great walks, beautiful views and hopefully a few laughs along the way.

I walk in all weathers and have an impressive range of muddy footwear. I walk 5 miles daily with my dog and enjoy a weekly 10 miler when I have company. I can manage longer distances, but prefer to stick to 12 miles max so I am able to walk unaided down the stairs the following day ;).

I've recently semi retired so free Thursdays to Sundays! I'm dipping my toes into camping again after a long while and loving it.

If you're in or around S Wales, let's get out there. I hope to walk with you very soon!

I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 60s, based near Leeds hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi i would like to meet someone male or female to walk with, not bothered about age just someone with a good sense of humour. Must be chatty. I am Liz by the way I started walking a few years ago after the death of my husband, I have found that I love the Freedom and sense of achievement you gain from a tough walk. I have two dachshunds Lily and Ella they are good for 10 miles a bit like me ( we did Whernside at the back end of last year ) it nearly killed me but now I am hooked I love the Yorkshire dales and moors some parts of South Yorkshire, I am open to anywhere really I love exploring new places
Nothing too strenuous ( mountaineering is out ) as I have dodgy knees but I am more than willing to have a go.My ideal walk would have a pub or a tearoom at the end of it. I just want to get fitter and enjoy our beautiful countryside I am retired now so anytime is ok, thanks for looking Liz ps I will get my boots cleaned and ready and#128094

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Liverpool hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi my name is Lee and I live Liverpool.
I have decided to update this message as I have walked quite a few routes now thanks to a very good mate Tom who I met through the site. For me as much as I love walking but I also love admiring the view, maybe sneak in a little bit of rest while having a rest.
I do have friends but they are really not interested in the idea of walking, not sure why, maybe they're lazy.

The downside is I dont drive so would need to be able to get to the walks via public transport. So if I can get there via a train it's ideal.

If you are interested in helping me out, I am more than happy to pay my way :-)

A bit more about me:

I quite enjoy Scrambling & Edges but don't like too much exposure. I prefer warm, dry & sunny weather but can cope with the odd shower. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. If pushed, I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are rather poor at best. I don't drive.

I am also interested in:

  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.
