I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Burnley hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi everyone I'm Chris and would like to meet some new friends to do some walks with me and my black Labrador, Jack :-) I'm fairly easy going, enjoy having a laugh and like nothing better than a nice country pub at the end. I would prefer people who are reasonably physically fit as I usually walk 8 miles plus. I don't mind walking with just one other person or in a group. If we go for a walk in a group I prefer groups of 4 or less as it's easier that way if you have a dog. Previously I've walked up mountains in Scotland, Yorkshire Dales and Lakes and I've just started checking off a few Wainwright's. But happy to go walking anywhere in North West really. I'm ok with map reading, it's fairly easy with right apps on your phone. I work during the week so would prefer weekends really but can give myself the odd day off in the week every now and then if needed. Did the West Highland Way a few years ago and would love to do a few more long distance trails sometime.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 2:3:4:5:6:7:8:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West England; Yorkshire;

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have my own Campervan/Motorhome.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Mountain Biking

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Lichfield And Lincoln hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi. I'm semi retired and live near Lincoln. I love the outdoors and love to spend my time walking, running and even gardening. Anything to be outside. I'm also lucky to have a narrowboat near Lichfield and enjoy chugging along the midlands canals. I do most of my walking on the Lincolnshire Wolds and in the Peak District, but would like to explore more. I have also walked in the Lakes, Wales and Scotland. My partner is not really interested in my love of walking and not that keen on cursing the canals. I do a lot of walking on my own but would enjoy a some company, ideally someone who loves being outdoors like me and who doesn't mind a bit of weather. My work pattern varies so I can be free mid week and weekends too.

My Message: Hi my name is Anne. I am in my early 60's looking for walking companions for either day/weekend/week walks. I have just retired and have a desire to do a lot more walking and/or tour the UK. I have recently bought an old campervan due to this crazy COVID world! Which will help to keep myself and others safe. I have walked the White Peak Way 90 miles a couple of times which is a lovely walk and a couple of other (flat) long distance walks. Not so keen on camping, prefer B&B, Youth Hostel or similar, what a wimp! I like to go at a steady plod...... short or longer walks. I also enjoy narrowboating with family and friends. I look forward to hearing from you...

I am a Male Walker, in my late 60s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live close to the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. My other interests are landscape photography, art, city breaks and the theatre. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me, get in touch.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Nottingham And Skipton hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hoping to meet male 50-65 for company on walks, bike rides, and maybe runs, initially in the Yorkshire Dale's where I have a caravan base. Have walked Yorkshire 3 peaks on my own in 2019 and take part in trail running events in the Lakes and Yorkshire. I don't really like large group walks, preferring relative solitude!I work full time, often from home, and flexibly, but would mainly be walking at weekends. Fitness is important to me, as is being out and about in the countryside. I like to challenge myself and would like to complete the Wainwright's, Dale's high way, and the Wales Coast Path in the next few years.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Leyland, Lancahire. hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I would like someone to enjoy the outdoors with and have a laugh, just as a friend and to accompany me in the outdoors. It would be good to share my knowledge and experience of the outdoors. I prefer walking or canoeing, I have a Canadian 3 seater canoe. However, I'm up for almost anything. I camp whenever I can, I prefer the fresh air and waking up to beautiful scenery.
I prefer female company so I can relax and unwind, (I work in a male dominated environment which is competitive).
Whether you like long or short distance I'm more than happy to adapt the activities.

I've spent most of my life in the outdoors and need it for the health of body and mind. I've been out every day since the first lockdown, with the exception of having to isolate.
I love to walk the hills, canoe in the lakes and canals and absorb the surroundings. I love camping, hammock, tent and bivi on basic sites or wild camps.
I'm good at navigation, in the past have climbed and caved (SRT). I've walked in most areas of England, Scotland and Wales.I like to be able to view nature, identify, photograph and uses of plants. I love learning and I'm sure you can teach me too. I'm fit and healthy, aches are just you show you still have your limbs attached aren't they?
Until I had covid (beginning of August 21, I'd walked every day since the 1st lockdown. This provided a good fitness level.

My Message: Hello, I'm David, single, 74 and retired (summer '12), I live in beautiful Fylde,having moved from my native Manchester, and would like to meet singles or a group to make walking more pleasurable. I'm not that experienced a walker so may have to be gradually more adventurous in my excursions, having said that my last job was very active so I need more than a gentle stroll to the pub. An active stroll to the pub, then, or a tea shop or whatever. My map reading skills are reasonable, I think, and I have a good sense of direction. I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Chesterfield, Derbyshire hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi. I'm Steve. I live in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, so not far from the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales. Hoping to meet someone of a similar age for scenic walks and interesting conversation in those areas although I have a car and am prepared to travel a reasonable distance. I am fairly new to walking but am quite fit (used to go to the gym regularly before the Covid-19 pandemic) and have recently been walking both alone and on group walks locally and in the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. I haven't really had any experience of map reading as I have generally been in the company of someone else who knew where they were going! - so it would be useful to pair up with a competent map reader but it's not essential (we could just make it up as we went along! - what's the worst that could happen?). I am retired so can be available any time given sufficient notice. Looking forward to exploring the countryside in good company.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Hull hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Used to spend lots of time walking all the main outdoor areas (living in Manchester there were lots !) and long-distance paths (Pennine Way, Offa's Dyke Path, Southern Upland Way, Cleveland Way, C to C)

Like a lot of people I was initially captivated by the Wainwright guides and am so glad I grew up in an age where there was no internet..less information but more mystique. You didn't often see photos of mountain summits, just line drawings, so there was extra incentive to reach one !

More recently have done more one-day challenge walks like the Shropshire 6 Summits, Malvern Marathon

Had marvellous weeks up in Skye on the Cuillin, the heady days of scrambling up Clach Glas on Bla Bheinn

Pre virus went to quite a few gigs and sang in a local community choir.

Studied French at uni

Interested in complementary medicine.

After the C to C cycle route two years ago, the first lockdown was a bit of a revelation for me, getting out on the bike every morning and exploring the beautiful byways of the Yorkshire Wolds.

Still predominantly a walker as I find it more sociable, but keen to do more cycling...and all the others once normality returns.

Used to be quite a keen peak-bagger but more bothered about quality of walk, points of interest, or anything quirky en route to just ticking things off these days. Although I do one-day challenge walks from time to time, more often than not I'll just do anything up to 15 miles.

I work freelance but things are quiet at the moment so flexible on times.

I don't drink at all but don't mind if anybody else does, someone has to drive ;) do enjoy my food though, have to keep the engine stoked ;)

Prefer walking in small numbers e.g 1 to 4 rather than in large groups

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
Yorkshire; The English Midlands;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

I quite enjoy Scrambling & Edges but don't like too much exposure. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. Even if I say so myself, I consider my map reading & navigation skills to be excellent. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Road Cycling

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Rotherham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am looking to meet people who own boots and wellies and don't mind getting them covered in mud. I am happy to meet people of any age who shared a love of the outdoors and doesn't mind me stopping from time to time to take photographs.

The Peak District is on my doorstep, but have walked in areas including Wales, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, Assynt in Scotland. I have been up Ben Nevis, Snowdon, and Scafell Pike, but would happily walk there again.

I have done the three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales but over a couple of days.

I work full time in a college, but school holidays and weekends I am free. Evening walks are possible if they are local.

My level of fitness is good and improving, though that is a story to share during a walk.

I am a life member of English Heritage and the National Trust. As such I can visit such places with a guest. I love photography, history, wildlife etc. I would rather not talk about education or computing (Unless its for a good cause).

My walking aims are to look at amazing views, Camp in amazing places including a plot of land I can wild camp on in Scotland, and just enjoy it all.

If you are cold, wet, have been rained on all day and can still smile then anything is possible.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Ribchester hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, Lesley here,
Just completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and the Ullswater Way 22 mile Challenge last month. I was camping at Nether Wasdale in May to walk the Mosedale Round with friends.

I've previously walked all the Lake District summits, extensively in Snowdonia and Scotland and in my own neck of the woods, The Forest of Bowland as well as abroad.

I love being outdoors and although I love sunshine I'll walk in any weather if the mood takes me. I particularly love coast and ridge walking but rivers and woodlands are beautiful too.
I'm interested in wildlife and nature, family and friends, art and architecture, yoga and music.
I like getting away for weekends and short breaks. I cycle too!

I took early retirement from advisory teaching 7 years ago to project manage a full property restoration which is now almost complete.

Therefore I have time to seriously explore the fells once again.
Love to hear from you.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 5:6:7:8:9:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West England; Yorkshire; Wales;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I lead walks with friends and my local walking group.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Road Cycling

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near High Peak hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I've been walking mostly in the Peak District, where I live, and the Lake District recently. I've been ticking off Wainwrights and have only 8 to go and I've started on the Birketts. I'm a widower and retired so can walk midweek and have mostly been walking alone for a number of years. I'm very fit for my age and like longer mountain walks. I've also walked in France, Spain, Germany, Italy Greece and Turkey. I've even done a bit of sport climbing in the last few years - rock climbing was a passion many years ago. I've also rediscovered an interest in photography and have been a yoga practitioner for more than 30 years. I don't like walking in large groups unless it's just a social occasion (like a friends 80th birthday recently).

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Darlington hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I am looking for fellow walkers to share the joys of the great outdoors with followed by a well earned beer or meal! I am fairly fit and for me I like being out being out there in the countryside listening to the birds. seeing the wild flowers, enjoying the views as much as bagging peaks - although this is always an added bonus. I am as happy in the lowlands, in the woods, by the sea as I am navigating my way across highlands and moorland. I am a reasonable navigator and I enjoy exploring off the beaten track. If any of this sounds appealing and you are willing to join me being out there in the wild enjoying the splendour of our countryside. I have my own transport and can walk occasionally mid week or at the weekend to suit.
Ian
