In-use Test:
I wore Paramo's new Quito waterproof trousers on a recent 3 day trip to Snowdonia - the weather was reasonably warm but showery.
On my first day, the weather didn't look very promising at all so I wore the Quitos as normal trousers - the fabric felt very soft next to my skin and the trousers had a really quite flattering fit. They certainly kept out the wind-driven rain and, as I'd expect, the breathability of the Analogy fabric was very good. Venting is easy via the full length leg zips so maintaining a comfortable temperature was not a problem.
They have two side-front pockets (often not present in waterproof trousers) which you have to undo the main leg zips a little to get at. There is no fly - so to answer the call of nature, it's again necessary to unzip from the side. However this was not a major issue.
The freedom of movement was also very good so, overall, they were very comfortable.
For the rest of the trip, I was wearing shorts and using the Quito-s as/when the rain fell (which it did!). I guess this is where the Quito-s really come into their own. After some slight hilarity initially, I did finesse my technique in putting on the Quitos without lifting my feet off the ground. (Optimum approach - fasten waist-band, fasten bottoms, zip up legs.) I found that by keeping them in my backpack already unzipped - I could get them on really quite quickly. It also struck me that if you're of the vintage where some of your flexibility has reduced (ie when putting on conventional waterproof trousers is a real nuisance), then this zip-on/zip off approach is really very welcome.
So far, there's no sign of wear & tear. I did note, though, that there does not appear to be any re-inforcement on the seat or knees which may be a consideration if you need them for prolonged wear when scrambling. Will update this review as I use them more over the next few months.
Whilst there are cheaper options available, Paramo's Quitos are a great investment for the frequent walker needing really comfortable, lightweight over-trousers that are quick and easy to get on and off as/when the weather changes. They are also equally comfortable worn on their own in more persistent poor weather.
