In-use Test:

Result's R181 is a contemporary looking, semi-fitted insulating jacket.

I was wearing a size 12/medium (my usual size) - it seems pretty true to size. It uses the same fill as is often used in fashion wear - and the jacket does have a bulky, slightly 'Michelin-man' feel compared to other insulating jackets I've tried. However the R181 is also pitched at a much lower price-point!

I was wearing it on a moderately windy day in March. It certainly kept the wind out and I was comfortably (but not over) warm. The shell and the insulating material are sewn together to create the quilting finish - which may be a source of cold spots in colder weather. However the stitching appears even and well finished.

It's a short cut style with an adjustable hem and cuffs - which are useful in regulating your temperature. The collar has a soft feel lining - and the jacket zip goes right to the top of the collar for a really quite cosy feel. There are two handy, zipped hand warmer pockets plus one inside pocket.

The freedom of movement in the shoulder area is quite good - although the jacket does ride up a little when your arms are lifted.

It compresses reasonably well.

Buying Advice:

The Result Urban R181F Holkham Down Feel jacket will keep you comfortable on chillier late Winter/early Spring days. Whilst you'll need a more technical option for mountain use in colder weather, this very competitively priced jacket is ideal for everyday, leisure use.
