In-use Test:

I've worn the Sprayway Arista Pro Shell Pant for Women along with the Sprayway Arista Pro Shell Jacket for Women in the same range on a variety of Peak District walking trips during the Autumn. The weather was predominantly showery and windy.

One of the benefits Gore-Tex claim for the the Pro Shell fabric (when compared to the ubiquitous XCR which it replaced late 2007) is a reduction in weight and bulkiness. And this is certainly the case, the Arista Pro over trousers are very light-weight and pack down easily into their stuff-sack.

The lining is also smooth and glides easily over other layers which - in combination with the half leg zips - meant it was pretty easy to get them on and off over walking boots.

I'm female, 5'7'' and of medium build and I was wearing a size 12/medium - regular length. The pants fitted well overall - although I thought they were only just long enough. The waist is elasticated and adjustable which meant it was easy to get a nice secure fit. I certainly didn't experience any sense of the pants slipping down when walking or when engaged in light scrambling. The articulated knees also provided a good range of leg movement.

There isn't any additional reinforcement on the inside of the lower legs or on the seat so these areas may wear over time particularly if you use the pants with crampons or perhaps for a lot of scrambling.

I was certainly warm and dry throughout the day.

Buying Advice:

These are quite pricey so if you do a lot of mountain/high-level winter walking with crampons and a lot of scrambling then the lack of reinforcement in the lower leg / seat areas means that these may not be the best bet. (Unless you don't mind replacing them often.)

However, if you want a supremely light-weight, reliably water-proof over-trousers for general hill walking then certainly consider the Sprayway Arista Pro Shell Pant for Women.
