Features to Note:

In-use Test:

I've worn the Patagonia Velocity Fleece as a base layer for winter walking and as my main top for high intensity nordic walking sessions in fine autumnal conditions.

This really is an extremely comfortable garment with a lovely soft feel next to the skin.

The fabric is extremely stretchy which combined with the close fitting cut - means the end result is a garment which provides a great range of movement. Also - it lies very well over your hips so can be worn either outside or inside trousers without any excess flapping or bagging material.

I was certainly warm enough using the Patagonia Velocity as part of a layering system. As someone who often has cold hands I really liked the feature on the cuffs which allowed me to hook my thumbs through the bottom of the sleeve to make sure it stayed snugly down inside my gloves.

The breathability was also impressive during higher energy periods.

Buying Advice:

The Patagonia Velocity is an impressive, technical base-layer for use as part of a layering system in winter walking. It's from Patagonia, a company with long established 'green' credentials. If that's important to you, then note that the fabric in this fleece is made from re-cycled soft drink bottles. The base-layer itself can be recycled via Patagonia's Common Threads Garment recycling initiative.
