I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Hemel Hempstead.

My Message: Recently retired professional male who can’t stand being indoors.
I usually do a couple of grade 3-4 walks a week and I hope to build-up to at least one 2/3 day walk each week, grade 5-9, in all weathers, over the winter months. I would prefer these to be mid-week but this is flexible. I’m looking for similar minded companions seeking to improve fitness, navigation, and hill-savvy skills. This is as much for safety reasons as for those deep philosophical conversations on climbs of 1000+ feet.
I’m no Bear Grylls – I have a modern campervan than I use as a base for longer trips but I consider the local Travelodge/BandB to be mandatory for sleeping! The van provides a neat facility for setting the heating on automatic timer and my must-have:- freshly brewed coffee.
I’m based in Hertfordshire and East Kent so I have a long drive to find any decent hills. You are bound to be en route to most of the national parks so location and lack of transport shouldn’t put you off. I’m not all climbing and route-marches, and expect to include wild-life reserves and historical places in any itinerary – but no shopping malls! You should expect to budget £50-£100 expenses for each trip.
I have no fixed plans or destinations, although the Munros in January are out, same for the Alps.
Let me know if you are interested and we can have a trial stroll up Box Hill or similar.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Walsall.
My Message: Hi! I love the outdoors so much. Try to walk most weekends in all weathers. I will travel to derbyshire, midlands, shropshire and anywhere in driveing distance. Do enjoy going further if time allows.
Love to just go out and enjoy the day, haveing laughs along the way. Still after many years have a tendancy to get lost but feel that it is a learning process and eventually make it back to the car :-)
I have gradually mastered the compass but still needs lots of practice.
Look forward to those great days out with someone who finds the beauty of the countryside breathtakeing.
Thank you for showing an interest, and enjoy your walking!!!! :-)
Oh forgot i do love cycling too if you fancy that but not too steep. lol !!!! :-)

I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near Camelford.
My Message: I have lived in the UK for 7 years and have come to know the Cornish walking trails very well with a few forays to Dartmoor and the South Devon coast. I would like to expand this and am very keen to explore further afield, both in the UK and Europe. I am a doctor with a rather busy job, but can take time off to travel and intend to do more of this. My rather angelic Border Collie usually accompanies me with great enthusiasm and generally gets on with everyone he meets. I am hoping to meet walkers from all areas, I would be interested in joining group walks or others who walk singly. I previously lived in Cape Town, and climbed Table mountain and the mountains of the Western Cape extensively, thus I have a pretty good degree of fitness and can manage long distances and inclines, I do not climb with equipment or up rock faces but up to almost anything else.

I am a Walker, in my early 70s, based near Palmers Green.
My Message: Hello I am a weekend rambler (10 to 12 miles usually) and occasional long distance trail walker. I'm interested in exploring new areas as well as the Home Counties where I sometimes lead walks for a club. I am quite fit for my age and trying to remain so. I live in a North London suburb with my daughter. I worked until recently; now semi-retired, I have more time for walking and would like to have a companion on some of the reconnaissance walks I do. Several of my long-established friends have moved away, hence this appeal. Two drawbacks to note: (a) I don't drive and (b) I'm active in Labour and Co-operative politics (though I don't go on about it). I've recently taken up urban as well as country walking, linking with architectural interests. I do voluntary work as trustee of a countryside conservation organisation and an historic house trust in addition to some neighbourhood commitments in north London.

I am a Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Bournemouth.
My Message: Hello, I am Angela living reasonably close to the New Forest and on the South Coast which offers some fantastic scenery and quite challenging walks. I have in the past done quite a bit of walking in the Lake District. I am fit, walking about 8 miles comfortably and am aiming to improve my fitness level, preferably with a male companion, within my area to begin with and gradually building up. I enjoy the 'outdoors' very much and taking in a pub for a drink/meal on the way. I look forward to sharing some special times and enjoying the company of a like-minded walker.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near London.
My Message: Hi,
I’m a black female who’s a total beginner at walking. I’m looking for single male - but I’m not looking for a date :-), or female friends to go walking with. I live in central London and I’m pretty open about where we go walking as I don’t mind sharing petrol costs to get to the walk if you drive. I don’t really know where the ideal places are to go walking so I’m looking someone who would be willing to plan and lead our walk. I’m down to earth and chatty and don’t mind if we end up in a country pub afterwards for a well deserved meal/drink. I’ve ticked the areas that I’ve heard of but I don’t mind going somewhere new.
So c’mon, get in touch and lets go walking! :-)

I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near Lewes.

My Message: Hi, probably, like most people on this site, i'm just getting back into walking, after an absence of about 12 months, my last hike was around 26 miles, completed in around 7 hours, along part of the South Downs way, and it really was like walking a marathon ! I hope this doesn't deter prospective walking buddies from replying to my ad. I'm quite happy walking any distance, over any type of terrain, in any kind of weather, wether it be 4 miles, or 24 miles, as long as the company is good, and there's a rewarding pint of local ale, in a cosy little hostelry at the end of it.
I consider myself quite fit, i do a bit of indoor climbing, mountain-biking, the occasional bit of camping, and although it doesn't require much physical exertion, like to fish. I would definitely be up for the odd weekend further afield, camping, or in a bandb, and am quite willing to jump on a train to rendezvous, (i drive, but currently car-less).
So, i'm looking for a regular hiking buddy, male, or female, must be easy-going, and have a pretty good sense of humour. I work full-time, Mon, till midday Friday, so weekend walking is best for me.
Think that pretty much covers it, if you'd like to know more, or would like to hook-up for a hike, drop me a line, i'd love to hear from you. All the best, Jim

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Whitstable.
My Message: Hi, I am a 50yr old fairly recently single (straight) female who is looking for a weekend walking companion (male or female) or groups to walk with. I have only been walking for the last 3 months and am now at max level 5 but, am hoping to build this up in time. Non of my friends can walk as far as 10 miles and therefore, need to find people that can. I'm originally from the Wirral but have live in Kent for many years. Unfortunately I don't drive yet so, am hoping to find companions in the Kent/Surrey/London area if possible. I love walking in all seasons and love all different kinds of walks. I'm very easy going, sociable, have a good sense of humour and a positive nature. I like pub meals/drink if you're up for it at the end of a hard walk. Hope to hear from anyone who would like to walk with me. Many thanks and hope to hear from you.

I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near Christchurch, Dorset.
My Message: I've just joined up on this site and hoping to meet people both singles and groups to walk with. I mainly wander around the New Forest area and the beaches and coast of Dorset, however willing to travel further depending on my work schedule and time available. I am reasonably fit and can manage at least a 10 mile walk... better start gradually, hopefully be able to increase my fitness as i put them behind me. I like to camp and enjoy outdoor living, I have a practical sort of head about me and not a lot can scare me... only bottomless crevices and sheer cliffs if i have to comprehend them. Drop me a post if you think i can join in.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Redhill.
My Message: Hi. My name is Gerry, female, 62. I walk during the week and at weekends and would like to find others to share the pleasure of this beautiful country with and maybe meet up with those who'd like to travel further for walking holidays too, either in this country or Alpine meadows for example! There is so much to see that I haven't yet explored.
I'm reasonably fit having done quite a bit of Nordic walking recently with a local group.
I also like to take photos occasionally, or stop to absorb the fantastic views, have a picnic in some stunning place and maybe re-cap over a drink in an idyllic country pub at the end!
Looking forward to meeting/hearing from some fellow enthusiasts.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Reading.
My Message: Hi - I've done quite a bit of walking in the past but have been lazy over the last few months! I have booked a fairly strenuous walking holiday in September though so need to get back out there and to build up my fitness again. I like to walk mainly in my locality but open to the odd weekend away, or longer day trip. Ideal weekend walks will be 7-14 miles, once I've got my fitness levels back but probabaly wise to start with about 6-8 miles if I don't want to suffer afterwards too much! I mainly walk at the weekends but can sneak the odd half day during the week.

I am a Walker, in my mid 30s, based near Milford Haven.

My Message: Hi there,
I've only recently signed up to this and though it looked like a great idea to find like-minded people that may wish to join me out and about someday.
I'm 36, single and live / work in Pembrokeshire, West Wales.
I've always been keen to explore the great outdoors, and I'm always up for new challenges, however until recently I probably haven't made as much of an effort as I should have done. The fact that most of my friends don't share my passion for the outdoors has restricted me to a certain degree but I've decided to put that right!! So, hopefully I'll find willing companions to enjoy an afternoon / weekend walk or challenge sometime, perhaps with the prospect of lunch afterwards, who knows???
Failing that, I'll head out alone - I've decided our great countryside has too uch to offer to simply let the chance go by
If you're interested in joining me someday then I'd love to hear from you, and hope you'll get in touch before tooo long, thanks, Gregg

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Odiham, Hampshire.
My Message: Hi, my name is Penny and I'm looking for a weekend walking companion to join me walking routes within a reasonable distance of north Hampshire. I work full time and crave a good dose of fresh air and a 10-12 mile stretch of the legs on a Saturday or Sunday.
I've completed a couple of national trails and am keen to do more. I can read a map and am not shy of walking in the rain, so long as we can keep going! I'm reasonably fit, have been a regular runner up to marathon length, and can be found at the gym at lunchtimes during the week.
I have tried walking with groups, but generally prefer the company of one other like minded soul, who enjoys a faster pace. Hope to hear from you!
