I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Worcester.

My Message: Hello... I spend most of my working life stuck behind a desk and am acutely aware that I need to take more excercise and get fitter. Walking alone doesn't appeal and most of my friends have other commitments, so would like to make new friends to join up with and go walking. the Malverns are local to me but am happy to explore new areas. Am available mainly at weekends. Please get in touch if you are also looking for a walking pal or feel I could fit in with existing friends. Regards Tina

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Crayford.

My Message: I am 43 and live near Dartford in Kent. I do have a car and am very happy to travel.

I love the great outdoors and enjoy nothing better than a walk in the countryside. I have a large circle of friends who I go away to Derbyshire and North Wales with (new friends always welcome). However as most of them now have children I miss being able to go for a long walk on a Saturday or Sunday when the sun is shining - and having a long cool beer at the end of it.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Malvern.

My Message: Slim, fit, cheerful and unconventional Worcestershire man with old cottage on Malvern Hills (ideal walking centre) seeks female companion for all kinds of low-budget walking adventures, long or short, anywhere in UK, from wild camping or bothying in the moors and mountains to finding geocaches along shores, canals and riverside paths. Possible cycle trips too (I have a Brompton folding bike). I'm a life member of both English Heritage and the YHA. Also like NT properties, morris dancing, ceilidhs, railways, board games and card games. Modest income from my publications about castles, churches, abbeys, ancient monuments and walking trails. My interests complement each other without dividing lines between work and leisure activities. Good navigator with 1:50, 000 maps for almost all of Britain Isles. National Trails still to do include Cotswold Way, South Downs Way, Pennine Bridleway and southern section of SW coast path. I’m a carnivore, don’t drink much alcohol, don’t smoke and don’t own a car. I’m not tall, and not a particularly fast walker or cyclist.
August 2012 update: companion(s) wanted for backpacking trips Sept-Oct 2012 to include Northumbrian coastal castles, central section of Offa's Dyke Path, & maybe Devon & Dorset.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Forest Of Dean.

My Message: COMPANION SOUGHT FOR YOUNG-MINDED 52YR OLD TO GET HER WALKING AGAIN!

I used to walk a lot but life and study got in the way, so I've lost my fitness and developed a niggling hip. Going up-hill is good though long descents on steep, mountainous ground can be tricky. Flat ground is uncomfortable to walk for long periods. Overall, could probably do 5 miles to begin with and build up to longer walks.

I still have good stamina, and still love being outdoors, but walking by myself has lost much of the appeal and enjoyment it used to have.

I am fairly familiar with the Black Mountains and Llangattock Hillside, having lived in Crickhowell and walking one or the other daily. I once knew the Garth and Rudry (N Cardiff). I've walked Pen-Y-Fan and Snowden too (well, OK, I walked down Snowden!). Have really only walked in South Wales so am open to new walks, preferably circular ones.

I live on the edge the Forest of Dean now, (near Ross-on-Wye) but find the tracks better for cycling. Company in this would be nice too, especially some help to develop stamina and mb skills for other cycling routes. Cycling is kinder to my hip and great fun too. I have a good bike but I'm out of practice.

I am at a cross roads in life - my son has fledged and, after 25 years as a self-employed French polisher, I'm trying to change career. All of which appears to mean adopting a new outlook on life too, so meeting new people with new points of view would be welcomed.

I consider myself to be a young 52 yr old – not quite a Tigger but certainly not an Eyeore! I enjoy conversation, camping, silence, philosophy, nature, a beer, jam on my scones, being wow-ed and a jolly good laugh. If this resonates with you and if you are patient and without ulterior motive, I’d be really happy to know about it.

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Cheltenham.

My Message: I'm looking for a single, male walking companion who ultimately is interested in walking around the coast of Britain in one hit - probably starting early 2013! If that goes well, a walk to Spain?! Before then would love to meet up for shorter walks, not restricted to the list but as I live in Cheltenham it's a start. I've done a lot of independent backpacking and have many interests, like to keep fit and have a good sense of humour.

I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Chepstow.

My Message: I live in south Monmouthshire. I am new to walking, having walked just a few 5 milers last summer along the Offa's Dyke and Wye Valley paths. Slightly asthmatic but can keep up! Would love to meet up with someone who would encourage me to do more. Have car and can travel. My husband is a keen walker but has a walking partner so we have the maps! I am a Walker, in my early 60s, based near Stratford Upon Avon.

My Message: Hallo and welcome. I am a fit and active lady living in South Warwickshire. I have walked this area over a 10 year period on mainly 5/6 miler walks. I would love to join up with new walking friends to enjoy this spirit-lifting amazing hobby with the addition of the finale in the lovely old pub for drink/lunch.

I've walked with 4 Walking Festivals recently - Isle of Wight, Derbyshire, Herefordshire and Crickhowell. I love coastal/cliff scenery and a favourite is the South Hams. I know there are many other such wonders to be found and look forward to finding them with new friends.

I am a Walker, in my late 50s, based near Lichfield.

My Message: Hi, I moved down to the Worcester area last year and would like to meet female walkers for walks in this general area or further afield, I don’t mind travelling to meet up or to explore new areas. I am reasonably fit and enjoy getting out and about discovering new places by finding walks off the beaten track, not to bad with maps!
I am semi retired and can meet up during the week or weekends.
Enjoy the countryside and will walk anything up to 10 to 12 miles but happy with shorter strolls as well. It is always more enjoyable with good company to have a chat with and the obligatory drink in the local pub afterwards (or en route!).
Hope to hear from you soon. John

I am a Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Tewkesbury.

My Message: Well, I am up for just about anything with anyone. Young/old, male/female, etc etc. It's not that I'm not fussy, but I enjoy meeting and finding about new people, although finding a regular glutten for punishment would be good. I enjoy a good laugh and a chat, but equally happy just enjoying sharing the scenery in ' companiable solitude' - not sure where that one came from!!
My usual partners circumstances have changed - baby, moved away, and the other one, well she found herself a man.
I am confident with navigation, enjoy grade 1 scrambles -although I used to climb to a good standard and fancy taking on a bit more, although I have no kit now.
I am currently looking for work so have a reasonable amount of flexibility of when and how long I go for, subject to getting a pass from 'she who must be obeyed'! But not a problem.
I am up for wild camping - but prefer bunk houses/bothys this trime of year.

Would love to have a bit of a challenge in winter conditions, if someone is happy to share their knowledge, I am prepared to invest in more winter kit.

I do like to stop and look at the scenery on the way and I have a huge love of nature. I like to be within 3/4 hour car travel from Reading to any walk. I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Thame.

My Message: Hi, I'm a 'relaxed' walker with a great love of the countryside and nature, married to a non-walker! I'm not into route marches (perish the thought!) but like to stop and appreciate interesting views. I like photography and would enjoy sharing walks with chatty like-minded individuals with a view to building a small group of friends to walk with, find nice watering holes and coffee houses to round off the day. I also have long summer breaks to extend walks - maybe walking hols which are great fun - as I work term-time only.

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Cambridge.

My Message: Hello

I’m a 55 year old straight female living on the northern edge of Cambridge. So far I have only tackled fairly short walks as it’s not much fun on your own. It would be nice to get together with other not too serious walkers in my neck of the woods to get out into the countryside for some “moderate” walking. I am a dog lover so would welcome them too!

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Leicester..

My Message: Hello, don't let the first part of my message put off any novice walkers or anybody who would just like a stroll in the countryside. I spent 15 years in the army so am used to walking, I did a Arctic survival course with the Royal Norwegian Air Force, a sea survival course with the German Air Force and a jungle survival course with the SAS so I know my way around a map and compass BUT I have recently had to retire due to ill heath. I have been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, to me and you that means the part of my heart that pumps out the oxygenated blood is only working at 27% capacity so I have to be very careful what I do. I'm up to 3-5 miles walking a day now but always take thing nice and steady, my walking area is East Leicestershire at the moment but I would like to go further afield if anybody would like to show me their area. I have recently rejoined the YHA so can stop over night if there is a hostel in your area. As I'm now retired I can walk week days as well as weekends. I feel it is only fair to let people know of my limitation but please don't let that put you off...... I'm not dead YET!!!!!

I am a Walker, in my mid 30s, based near Crewe.

My Message: I'm a 34 year old divorced, professional man. I haven't been on that many walks and would love to do a lot more but unfortunately have no-one to go with. I keep myself fit so am not concerned about lack of fitness. I would like to go walking with a female aged between 25-45. I'm easygoing and love chatting so would like to meet someone similar who I can have a chat and a laugh with and maybe a meal and a drink at the end of the walk. I'm not familiar with many walking routes and have no sense of direction so if you fancy getting lost with me please get in touch. I'm conscious that this is beginning to look like a dating website advert, which it isn't, but if we're going to spend a few hours together it would be great if we could get on. I am based in Cheshire but willing to drive for a walk and may even be up for a walking holiday if we hit it off. I have ticked a few areas but I'm interested in most places. Get in touch and lets see if we get on!
