I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Odiham, Hampshire.

My Message: Hi, my name is Penny and I'm looking for a weekend walking companion to join me walking routes within a reasonable distance of north Hampshire. I work full time and crave a good dose of fresh air and a 10-12 mile stretch of the legs on a Saturday or Sunday.

I've completed a couple of national trails and am keen to do more. I can read a map and am not shy of walking in the rain, so long as we can keep going! I'm reasonably fit, have been a regular runner up to marathon length, and can be found at the gym at lunchtimes during the week.

I have tried walking with groups, but generally prefer the company of one other like minded soul, who enjoys a faster pace. Hope to hear from you!

My Message: Hi, my name is Eve and I am new to this walking forum, I love to walk and happy to clock up the miles in all weathers, makes it more of an adventure!! I am more of a joining in walker rather than a planner and plotter!! But I will bring lots of yummy things to eat! Im chatty and like to soak up the views and all that comes with it, not really into cliff faces and hanging of ledges as I get jelly legs and would'nt want to involve any one in a near miss!

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Ampthill.

My Message: A few of us (mixed group, ages 40 to mid 50s have been walking for the past couple of years - We started off as a group partly from this website - there were about 12, but now have dwindled due to people moving house, getting partners etc etc, so thought it would be good to look for a few more people who might like to join us from time to time: Do you want to meet us for a walk and see what you think? Different people turn up at different walks - we are very casual about it all, and tend to walk for about 3 ish hours on a Sunday, then follow it by lunch in a pub. approx every 6- 8 weeks... Some of us go on longer walks from time to time...
We live in Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, and so tend to walk in any of those places, or in between.
Get back to me if you would like to join us at some stage!
Sally

I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near Southampton.

My Message: Hi, My name is Sue and I am 47 and single. I live in Hampshire and my passion for walking and hiking began a few years ago in the Lake District with my friend who lives in Newcastle.

I have progressed from flat walking to hiking in Andalucia (600-800 mtr climbs), Snowdon (miners trail) in July this year where it was heavy rain and blowing a gale the whole way up!!.... I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge though. Theres so many places I would like to visit however my walking partner lives too far away to make it a regular event. I do however reguarly walk with my sister and her husband locally in the New Forest/south coast and these are grade 1 and 2 walks.

It would be great to find a walking partner locally and happy to do 5 - 12 miles. I work shifts so often available mid week too. I have 2 daughters and 3 sisters so some male company would make a nice change. I do make a nice packed lunch but allways happy to visit the pub if preferable.

I have never used a map or compass, the walks/hikes I have done have either been guided or from a guide book but I am willing to learn!!

Personality wise I would describe myself as 'a people person' confident, outgoing and happy. I excersise approx 3 times a week.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I am a Walker, in my late 20s, based near Bristol.

My Message: Hi,
I live in the Bristol area and I'm looking for some walking companions. Being so close to South Wales I've walked alot in the Brecon Beacons, I love the area particulalry the peaks nr Glyn Tawe (Fan Brycheiniog etc) If I could move up there I'd go tomorrow! I also enjoy walking in North Wales - I'd like to go back and walk some more of the Carneddau. I'm also interested in doing a winter mountainerring course this year, and it would be great to find a few others to do it with and perhaps practice some of the skills learnt afterwards. I'm into outdoor swimming, so the Lake District also really appeals to me - I've been up there twice, but there's so much more to explore.

I have a 7 year old daughter who is a fantastic walker for her age (shes walked alot of the Brecon Beacons and the main tops of Snowdonia) She stays with her Dad on Sundays so I am free to walk on Sundays and the occasional weekend away. Would also be good to meet other families with children who like walking as all my daughters friends are more into playing on play stations etc! When I am walking with my daughter we also endulge in a bit of geocaching to her spur her along..

I don't drive, but willing to pay our way in terms of petrol/bridge fees and can get to newport etc by train at the weekends. Hope to hear from someone soon!

Ps I havent investigated the walk grades yet, so I've ticked them all not knowing what they mean! I up to walking up to 15 miles per day (at a push!) and not adverse to the odd scramble. I have a healthy fear of heights so I'm not massivly keen on the really exposed stuff.

I am a Walker, in my early 40s, based near Newport Pagnell.

My Message: Hello I'm Joanne and I enjoy all types of walking, from casual local walking to the more serious mountain walking and scrambling. Have walked with mountaineering clubs and friends with walks that range from 3/4 hours in the Peaks to mountain walks in North Wales, Lake District and Scotland. Have manged Anach Eagach Ridge on a clear day scrambling over the pinnacles and would like to develop my scrambling further. Am keen to meet people who are local to my area for day walks as well as join up with some weekend mountain walking guys and girls.

I am happy to do local walks but also venture further affield, I love to finish off a good walk with a nice local pub, and also happy to camp on further afield trips. I am a Walker, in my mid 40s, based near London.

My Message: Hi, I am a 45 year old female living in central London. I work during the week so most of my walking is done at the weekends when I like to get out of London. I don't have a car but am happy using public transport. I have walked in Wales, Devon, Surrey and the North of England. I like maps although I must admit that I have a terrible sense of direction. For me a good days walk (6-12 miles) ends in a cosy pub that serves delicious food and you feel hungry and tired and your legs ache a bit. I would like to meet others, male or female for a good days walking.

I am a Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Farnham.

My Message: Hi, I'm a 54 year old female based near Farnham, looking for male/female company for more regular walking in Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, Dorest. Local walking groups are rather large and I prefer more one to one conversation, probably a faster pace too. I tend to use pre planned walks as I'm not the best map reader - happy to learn from an expert though! Available to walk at least every other weekend, and occasionally in the week, especially during summer months while the evenings are lighter. I'm reasonably fit (Gym and cycle) and happy to walk 8-10 miles or more. Love walking holidays uk or abroad, walked Hadrian's Wall two years ago. Would love to meet more liked minded people to share the beauty of uk countryside. Pub stops are equally important but I'm not adverse to the odd picnic! I look forward to hearing from you!

My Message: Hi, I am a 48 year old male looking for a walking partner. I walk at weekends, usually in the Thames Valley area and surrounding counties. Occasionally when time allows I will venture further afield. I prefer 5-10 miles but, as I hope to shed a few pounds, want to increase the distance. I would like to improve my fitness too. Unfortunately I am also partial to stopping for a nice country pub lunch en route. If this sounds like a good way to spend a day and you wish to join me, please get in touch.

I am a Walker, in my early 50s, based near Coventry.

My Message: Hello. I am new to this having formerly been into running and gym visits to keep fit. However, I have always loved the countryside, fresh air and exploring places that seem interesting. I've decided its now time to combine the two by dipping my toe into walking. I do not think I will be into walking for walkings sake, but more the opportunity to explore what may be offered along the route. I have an interest in natural history, geology, history and architecture.
Would like to meet a lady who shares similar interests, enjoys a good walk with good conversation and likes to explore.

I am a Walker, in my late 40s, based near Crawley.

My Message: Hi
I am a fit, happy, easy going and healthy man who probably doesn't look much like your typical walker, looking for a lovely lady to share some of this beautiful country of ours with. I got the bug for walking again a couple of years back and do as much as I can, some nice long day walks, weekends and also a bit of wild camping during the warmer months, I enjoy planning the walks, as well as walking them and some of the places I have been to along the south cost are far too nice not to share. Not into walking groups or clubs, kind of defeats the object for me as it is so nice to be away from all that. I enjoy some good conversation /debating /laughing along the way and also a nice pub or 2 always helps. I am based in the south and know some lovely walks around the South east but am willing to travel anywhere (within reason) to share some more great days out and learn some from you. If you have liked what you have read it would be great to hear from you.
