Walking/Hiking Answers: Cycling on footpaths and bridleways

Got an answer to the following question?

Cycling On Footpaths

I am trying to take my children cycling on the trails and footpaths around my area to learn [sic] them to ride safely without the dangers of the roads, however I cannot find any maps of footpaths and trails.

I have taken them out a few times on the trails I know but when the path comes to a road I don't know where to go to continue the ride so we have to turn back the way we got there.

Is there a program like 'autoroute' where you put where you are and where you want to go and it shows you a route by path and trail?
