The Afon Rhaeadr-fawr tumbles uninterrupted for 130ft over an outcrop of rock called granophyre (rare in Snowdonia). In Welsh Rhaeadr fawr simply means 'Big Waterfall'.

The Afon Rhaeadr-fawr tumbles uninterrupted for 130ft over an outcrop of rock called granophyre (rare in Snowdonia). In Welsh Rhaeadr-fawr simply means 'Big Waterfall'. While not as impressive as Rhaeadr-fawr, the smaller Rhaeadr-bach waterfall is well worth a visit.

You will also reach the summit of Drosgl at 758m (2488ft). Drosgl is classified as a Welsh Mountain (Hewitt) (47th highest in Wales, 113th highest in England & Wales). Drosgl is also known as a Welsh Nuttall (58th highest in Wales, 137th highest in England & Wales).

Along the way you will also bag Gyrn Wigau at 643m (2110ft). Gyrn Wigau is known as a Welsh Nuttall (146th highest in Wales, 345th highest in England & Wales).
