I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Newbury hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I'm a fun-loving, adventurous guy living in Newbury, Berkshire. I'm happy walking alone, but it's so much more fun (and better conversation) with two so I'm looking for male or female friends to join me on walks locally (around Berks/Hants/Wilts) or further afield (anywhere really - from Cornwall to Scotland, Snowdonia to Norfolk).

I also enjoy scrambling (tho' not great with heights), cycling (more off-road than on), camping (wild or civilised), flying kites - I'm essentially very adaptable! I'm happy to explore any areas of the UK - the wilder the better - so if you're interested in joining me then please drop me a line.

ps: I love dogs and have my own, but he's not great with distances so tends to stay at home mostly, unless it's a short walk and my company likes dogs.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; Wales; East Anglia; The Heart of England; South East England; South West England;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;
  • Mountain Biking

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

My Message: Hi There, I'm looking to meet new people/friends to go on some nice walks or camping/kayaking adventures with in the UK or abroad. I am happy hiking all day or multi day hikes, I also love a bit of kayaking, bouldering, pretty much anything that burns a bit of energy and I am more than happy to drive wherever for a nice walk and chat. If you fancy a walk or a little adventure I would love to hear from you!

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Bakewell hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: My hope is to meet with one or two other individuals for varied walks mainly in the Peak District as its straight out of the door for me, around the South Downs/High Weald and perhaps in Snowdonia. In past years I was very much into mountaineering and skiing. However, injuries and the onset of arthritis have now whittled my activities down to just hill-walking.
As I work as a freelance project manager, my availability varies from 'hardly ever' when I'm on contract to 'every day' between contracts. My objective is not route marching up as many peaks a possible but to enjoy the vistas and peace that the hills offer; happy to stop for views, flowers, geology and history. I'd simply like to enjoy our great outdoors!

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Bristol.

My Message: Hello, I'd like to meet another walker who lives in Bristol where I live. I already have a great walking mate in the South West that I spend time with, and meeting up with someone very close to home would be good as well. I'm only interested in walking with women. Oh, but importantly, I don't own a car, so instead can travel by train and meet you if necessary. That seems to work out fine with my other walking mate. I don't do high energy marching type of walking, and anything over eight miles, would be a long walk for me.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 40s, based near Leicester hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello is anyone free to join myself and my dog Cocoa, for day hikes during the week as I work the weekends? Although this may well change in the near future to becoming a weekend warrior. I have travelled to hike fairly extensively all over the UK national parks and to mention a few places; have visited Snowdonia, Isle of Skye; Peak District; Cotswolds and parts of Hadrian's Wall. Favourite places are definitely the Lakes and Cairngorms. I would say I am of average fitness and tend to walk fairly slowly but do like to be out all day so roughly aim for about 10 miles a day regardless of terrain. I like to bag 2/3 summits at a time if possible. Definitely want to see what Torridon is like but it's a long way to drive on my own and I hope to visit the Alps and Pyrenees as well as the rest of the world to hike or cycle in the future. i love the adventures with my pup but it would be great to find some company who I can actually hold a conversation with!

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Fareham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I live in Hampshire and would like to meet female walking partners to share walks both locally and other parts of the UK. My favorite walking areas are the south west, Lake District and the Cotswolds.

I work full time, so good walks are limited to weekends and holidays.

As well as walking the dog, I cycle to work and play squash, so I'm reasonably fit. I also enjoy music and reading.

I did the Peninine Way many years ago and the Coast to Coast a couple of years ago. I would like to do the West Highland Way in the next few yearsb but in the meantime I'm heading to Dartmoor and the Lake District for some nice day walking.

I haven't done much walking abroad, but I love walking anywhere with lovely countryside.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 40s, based near Woodford Green hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I am Matt and I live on the outskirts of London on the edge of Essex. I am looking for a walking buddy of any age (preferably female as I enjoy female company- on a platonic basis) as my previous walking partner has moved overseas and I am keen to try and start walking more regularly again.

My friends are either tied up with family or not walkers and while I sometimes enjoy walking alone I also enjoy conversation as well as a good laugh.

I am used to walking coastal walks or rural walks in the home counties and have walked in Buckinghamshire, Essex, Kent, East Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire but don't have much experience of hills/peaks although am keen to try. I am comfortable walking 12-15 miles and have walked 20 miles on a couple of occasions albeit on flat terrain.

I have an average level of fitness which I want to improve. I am keen to walk in the South East/home counties but could also venture further afield to East Anglia, South West or Midlands (anywhere within 2-3 hrs drive really) as I have a car and enjoy driving. I would be keen to maybe try some longer paths/routes like SWCP or similar but above all else want to have fun and be outdoors with like-minded people.

I work full time in the week so weekends are best although I could take the odd day off from time to time. My other interests include yoga, swimming, reading, art, music and cinema.

If anyone is keen to plan a day out soon then please contact me :)

My Message: Hi, I'm Sally, single, retired, with time and energy to walk. Keen to meet a single, fit, friendly guy to help map read, who likes to stop and admire the view. Closer to home - The New Forest,The Monach's Way, South Downs, Clarendon Way (25 miles in one hit) Usually 10 miles a day is fine by me! Join local walking groups but prefer to walk with a friend.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live South of the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales as well as mountain tops. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there, not to just race to the end, what would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments. I'm chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. My other interests are landscape photography, art and the theatre. I'm vegetarian ( you don't have to be) and a good cook though do enjoy dining out too. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me, get in touch.

Chris

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Alfreton.

My Message: Hi fellow walkers, living in North East Derbyshire gives me easy access to the Peak District and Wales, Northumberland and the Lakes are 3-4 hours away and need a lot more exploration. The closer I am to water, the better. I am happy to walk 10-15miles (and have done 22 by accident, a longer story...), scrambling is not my forte (fear of heights...I know) but standing on top of a hill feels so good. Could you help me with my map reading? I don't get lost, I just find new places in unexpected ways and it may take a bit longer to get back home but those walks turn out to be the best. That's the adventurer in me. This adventurer has a tent in the car just in case, sets off for France without a fixed plan or goes out on the motorbike to see what's round the next corner. Once I sit down I read, write, play Scrabble and enjoy the views over the open countryside from the patio. Outdoors is a good place and I'd love to hear from you if you want to share it. I have joined a couple of walking groups and they are very welcoming but not all walks have to be with a bunch of people. If you want to join me solo or with the bunch please get in touch and let's see where it takes us.
Safe walking, Karen

My Message: Hi, Female walker looking to meet up with male/female kindred spirit. Reasonably experienced and fit I can walk week ends and midweek. Although the Peak district is nearest to me I am willing to travel to new walks in different areas. An inspiring, energetic hike, whether in the hills or following local footpaths with a packed lunch followed by a pub meal is a day well spent, and better shared. So if you're local or further a field and think we may get along, I look forward to hearing from you.

I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.

My Message: Hi, This summer I started walking the South West Coast Path (47 miles down, 583 to go!) I thoroughly enjoyed the walking and the beautiful scenery, and I'm hoping to complete a few more miles next year, but I need to develop my hill fitness... not easy to do whilst living in the flat lands of Essex! I'm looking for someone to tackle the hills with and, obviously, I'm going to have to travel, which isn't a problem. I'm not very tall so, despite going at a reasonable pace for me, I'm unable to match the stride length of anyone who prefers to march on at speed. I like to walk and talk, stop to take photos, and to marvel at the incredible views. Are you someone with good map-reading and navigational skills? Would you be happy to walk with me at my pace and understand that I'm actually walking pretty quickly for me? Do you enjoy a chat and a laugh? I work part-time so I'm available from Thursday to Monday and I'm keen to get out there as soon as possible. I love the sunshine and don't mind the cold (I walked in the Peak District in snowy November) but, I'm not so keen on rain - a bit of light drizzle is OK but if it's pouring down... I'd rather find a nice tearoom or pub. If you think you can share some hills with me, please get in touch. I'm also open to walks in counties and National Parks other than those listed. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Winchester & Hove.

My Message: My name is Shelley, widow, originally from South Africa, last 18 years in Hampshire, but currently living/working (flexibly) in Hove & New Alresford. I'm looking for a slowish walking companion to do day walks and occasional longer, and build up my flagging fitness levels - been pretty slack over the past year in a very isolating and sedentary job. Not great on hills at the moment - unless we can stop to admire the scenery on the way up.

I work, but days/weeks/even months off are easy to arrange, as job is flexible, and have a car. I've clicked the counties around where I live for day walks but very happy to walk further afield.

Lighthearted, friendly, enjoy camping, gardening, reading, nature, novice birder, bit of a home body, care hugely about the planet and could be called a tree hugger. Favourite tipple - plenty of tea or one gin.

My Message: Hi I'm 58 interesting and genuine man looking for a friend to walk with to enjoy relaxing strolls or some exercise maybe a coffee or lunch along the way. I have had a stroke but doesn't stop me from enjoying a good walk or what I love doing the most and enjoying the outdoors.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Aylesbury.

My Message: Hello,

I am retired and single with plenty of time to indulge my love of walking. I walk sometimes alone and sometimes with local walking groups. I would very much like to expand on that by finding a new friend or friends to walk with on a one to one basis. I live in Aylesbury so the Chilterns are on my doorstep but I am more than happy to try other areas. Recent walking holidays were in Wales and Yorkshire and I was born and raised near the Lake District.

I am more interested in spending time in the outdoors, stopping to enjoy the views and ending in a pub, than in ticking off particular challenges. A typical walk for me would be between 6 and 12 miles. More than that on a good day!

If that sounds good to you drop me a line and we can take it from there.

Brian
