I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Newbury hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I'm a fun-loving, adventurous guy living in Newbury, Berkshire. I'm happy walking alone, but it's so much more fun (and better conversation) with two so I'm looking for male or female friends to join me on walks locally (around Berks/Hants/Wilts) or further afield (anywhere really - from Cornwall to Scotland, Snowdonia to Norfolk).

I also enjoy scrambling (tho' not great with heights), cycling (more off-road than on), camping (wild or civilised), flying kites - I'm essentially very adaptable! I'm happy to explore any areas of the UK - the wilder the better - so if you're interested in joining me then please drop me a line.

ps: I love dogs and have my own, but he's not great with distances so tends to stay at home mostly, unless it's a short walk and my company likes dogs.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; Wales; East Anglia; The Heart of England; South East England; South West England;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;
  • Mountain Biking

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Huddersfield hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am looking to meet fellow walkers, and am happy to travel further afield than Yorkshire. I am fairly fit as I walk my dog every day and volunteer in my local woods, but my mapreading skills need some improvement. I have helped to lead group walks in Spain (where I lived for a while near the border with Portugal) and Portugal. I have lived in Scotland, London, Derbyshire and Essex, and now Yorkshire. Walking-wise, I am happy to try anything - I have walked up Ben Nevis, around South West Scotland, Suffolk, the Peak District, and North Devon. I enjoy drawing and craftwork, and real ale, so a pub is definitely on the agenda during the walk! I would be looking to meet up at weekends as I work during the week. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sue

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am a Female Walker, in my late 40s, based near Northamptonshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, I am single, currently living in the Northamptonshire area and would like to meet male or female walking partners to explore more of the UK. Have been a member of this site for a few years but returning to it after an absence. I am open to suggestions and able to travel.I have done a fair amount of walking in far flung places abroad and some here in the UK (Snowdon and Peak District), reasonably fit, can do a bit of scrambling but am not a climber. Am open to BandBs, hostels or possibly camping, though I am not an experienced camper and don't yet have equipment! My map and navigation skills are not good, so would welcome someone with these skills so we don't get hopelessly lost. I am easy going and enjoy cafe's/coffee shops and a country pub but am not a big drinker.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 40s, based near Woodford Green hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I am Matt and I live on the outskirts of London on the edge of Essex. I am looking for a walking buddy of any age (preferably female as I enjoy female company- on a platonic basis) as my previous walking partner has moved overseas and I am keen to try and start walking more regularly again.

My friends are either tied up with family or not walkers and while I sometimes enjoy walking alone I also enjoy conversation as well as a good laugh.

I am used to walking coastal walks or rural walks in the home counties and have walked in Buckinghamshire, Essex, Kent, East Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire but don't have much experience of hills/peaks although am keen to try. I am comfortable walking 12-15 miles and have walked 20 miles on a couple of occasions albeit on flat terrain.

I have an average level of fitness which I want to improve. I am keen to walk in the South East/home counties but could also venture further afield to East Anglia, South West or Midlands (anywhere within 2-3 hrs drive really) as I have a car and enjoy driving. I would be keen to maybe try some longer paths/routes like SWCP or similar but above all else want to have fun and be outdoors with like-minded people.

I work full time in the week so weekends are best although I could take the odd day off from time to time. My other interests include yoga, swimming, reading, art, music and cinema.

If anyone is keen to plan a day out soon then please contact me :)

I am a Female Walker, in my late 40s, based near Bourne.

My Message: Hi, Female walker looking to meet up with male/female kindred spirit. Reasonably experienced and fit I can walk week ends and midweek. Although the Peak district is nearest to me I am willing to travel to new walks in different areas. An inspiring, energetic hike, whether in the hills or following local footpaths with a packed lunch followed by a pub meal is a day well spent, and better shared. So if you're local or further a field and think we may get along, I look forward to hearing from you.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Chelmsford.

My Message: Hi, This summer I started walking the South West Coast Path (47 miles down, 583 to go!) I thoroughly enjoyed the walking and the beautiful scenery, and I'm hoping to complete a few more miles next year, but I need to develop my hill fitness... not easy to do whilst living in the flat lands of Essex! I'm looking for someone to tackle the hills with and, obviously, I'm going to have to travel, which isn't a problem. I'm not very tall so, despite going at a reasonable pace for me, I'm unable to match the stride length of anyone who prefers to march on at speed. I like to walk and talk, stop to take photos, and to marvel at the incredible views. Are you someone with good map-reading and navigational skills? Would you be happy to walk with me at my pace and understand that I'm actually walking pretty quickly for me? Do you enjoy a chat and a laugh? I work part-time so I'm available from Thursday to Monday and I'm keen to get out there as soon as possible. I love the sunshine and don't mind the cold (I walked in the Peak District in snowy November) but, I'm not so keen on rain - a bit of light drizzle is OK but if it's pouring down... I'd rather find a nice tearoom or pub. If you think you can share some hills with me, please get in touch. I'm also open to walks in counties and National Parks other than those listed. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Huddersfield.

My Message: Hi
My name's Kate and I'm really interested in improving my walking skills and seeing and enjoying much more of the outdoors, both at weekends and also when I'm free mostly at weekends but sometimes during the week. I'd really like to try new walks and challenges, beginning in the places I've mentioned. I would enjoy some company for this and to maybe have time to have a drink/coffee and chat with, at the end of a walk. I am very interested in meeting people to walk with who might introduce me to new walks, but in a low key, not too serious way. I hope to find folk who want to try regular outings for fun and adventure and to take in as much scenery as possible. Please get in touch if any of this this resonates with you. I shall look forward to hearing from you. Kate

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Lechlade On Thames.

My Message: Hello, my name is Gwen and I walk daily with my dog for about an hour, although its mainly flat here by the Thames.
I am looking for male/female friends to walk with on weekends and weekdays, even holidays, I have my caravan so like to get out and about when possible. I want to improve my distance and field of vision i. e. more interesting places to walk. I do like to take my dog so if there is no livestock around its better. I am single with a good sense of adventure and humour. A stop at the pub en route or at the end is perfect. Looking forward to getting out there.

is there anyone out there who wants to meet for a walk?
