I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Western Beacons hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi my name is Roger and I live near the Western Brecon Beacons. Since taking early retirement from teaching I now work freelance delivering the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and I'm available for training, supervising and assessing DofE groups anywhere during the expedition season. When I'm on DofE I'll use my day van and stay on campsites, out of season I'll stay in a Youth Hostel or find an Air BnB near the area I'm exploring. In addition to walking I like visiting interesting places like National Trust properties and exploring different parts of the coast and countryside in the UK, Ireland and abroad. I'm free to walk during school holidays, some week days and most weekends.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; Wales; The Heart of England; South East England; Ulster (Uladh), Ireland Munster (Am Mhumhain), Ireland;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am a Qualified Mountain Leader (ML) - Mountain Training Association.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near West Yorkshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi all,

I'm a late-forties male, and I would like to meet a new female walking partner and also friends either male or female. Time spent walking and enjoying our wonderful countryside just being outdoors is even better with the right person.

I enjoy all forms of walking, multi-day, long distance paths and less strenuous steady day walks too. Oddly enough my walks usually end at a nice country pub or two! Can't think why...There is nothing nicer than a lovely pub at the end of a great days walking.
I'm experienced at map reading and navigating and I enjoy the planning of walks on both traditional paper maps and also using GPS.
Sometimes I'll take a lightweight tent and camp and make it an outdoors weekend or stay in a B&B when exploring new areas.
My 'bread and butter' walking area is Yorkshire but I'm equally happy anywhere in the countryside.

I work part-time; so I've some availability on a weekday and also some weekends too. If you want a partner or friend to walk with who won't get you lost (I promise!) and has a good sense of humour, that could be me! Please do drop me a line..

I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive but do not have access to a vehicle.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Rotherham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am looking to meet people who own boots and wellies and don't mind getting them covered in mud. I am happy to meet people of any age who shared a love of the outdoors and doesn't mind me stopping from time to time to take photographs.

The Peak District is on my doorstep, but have walked in areas including Wales, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, Assynt in Scotland. I have been up Ben Nevis, Snowdon, and Scafell Pike, but would happily walk there again.

I have done the three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales but over a couple of days.

I work full time in a college, but school holidays and weekends I am free. Evening walks are possible if they are local.

My level of fitness is good and improving, though that is a story to share during a walk.

I am a life member of English Heritage and the National Trust. As such I can visit such places with a guest. I love photography, history, wildlife etc. I would rather not talk about education or computing (Unless its for a good cause).

My walking aims are to look at amazing views, Camp in amazing places including a plot of land I can wild camp on in Scotland, and just enjoy it all.

If you are cold, wet, have been rained on all day and can still smile then anything is possible.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Lytham St Annes.

My Message: Hi,

I've been a member now for quite a while but not used the site for ages so the time has come to dust off my walking boots and get back climbing, I've just done the Great North Run in 2hrs 14mins so not completely unfit.

Please get in touch if anyone is out there wanting a slowish companion.

I'm free most weekends and don't mind any weather conditions.

Thanks Linda

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Wakefield hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: My absolute best place to be is outdoors walking the hills, dales, valleys... feeling freeee and being amongst the natural world. I've enjoyed walking for many years, and although never been a big mountaineer, over the years I have found myself drawn to these dramatic landscapes (Skye, The Hebrides, Glencoe, Scotland, The Lakes). I am equally besotted with the other end of the UK being fortunate enough to have lived in the south west region for just over a couple of years and was absolutely blown away by the coast walking. (I'm also happy to have an amble locally too).
I'm preety flexible on when and where I can walk and kinda fit ish (I think). My usual distance is between 6-8 miles. Whilst I have never learned the skill of map reading I do have several walking books which line my book shelf to support the maps !
So if you fancy doing some post lockdown walks and sharing a sarni and a flask en route it would be good to hear from you.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Huddersfield hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I have a good set of friends but unfortunately, none of them shares my interest in the outdoors. So it would be great to find someone to walk with and maybe even share a drink after.

I tend to walk in the Yorkshire area and sometimes the lakes but don't mind travelling outside of my usual walks. I don't have a particular preference, I am up for pretty much anything as long as I am in the beautiful outdoors.

I also like to mountain or road bike too and with working from home I can be flexible with my time due to being able to choose my own hours.

I consider myself friendly, easy-going and have a good sense of humour. So if you fancy adding me to your list of walking buddies then just drop me a message.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 70s, based near Devon hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I've done loads of walking overseas - recently in the Apuans and Appenines - and several long-distance paths (SW Coast Path, Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Tramontana in Majorca, Lycian Way in Turkey) and get out once or twice a week locally in Devon, and have had holidays in Lake District, Cairngorms, Brecon Beacons, Peak District, Cotswolds etc. etc.! I'm not really into bagging peaks but will gladly accompany someone who wants to. My ideal is a day out, walking up to 12 miles or so, with ascents (don't like the descents so much as it's hard on the old knees but if you go up......). I have found group walking not too good - I'm so used to walking on my own that I don't converse as much as others - but feel that, as I get older, a companion is a good idea!

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Burnley hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: A bit about me...
Well, I like to mix up my walks so vary the level, distance and area where I can. I'm not as fit as I used to be but get out as often as I can. I work full time and longer walks are usually saved for weekends but during summer months I'll walk most evenings. I've walked a few long distance routes in this country and explored lots of areas of mainland Spain, Portugal and Majorca. I don't mind walking on my own but do prefer company. I love nature and going out with my camera (a fairly new hobby and still trying to get my head around it).
I enjoy the simple things in life like catching up with friends, chatting over a drink in the pub, a dance or two and meals out. I enjoy all sorts of music, going to live events and theatre. I'm a true believer in laughter being the best medicine - second to that, fresh air and the outdoors.

My Message: Moving back north last year, I left my my regular walking companions behind and have not yet found others walking at my low level. I'm apalled by how much fitness I've lost in a year. Although I'm a confident walker I couldn't tackle long strenous walks at the moment, 5 or 6 miles on a fine day being my limit. I'd like to build up strength and stamina again with someone in the same situation or someone with buckets of patience.

I enjoy everything about being out in the countryside and like to take time to understand the landscape I'm walking in, its history and what lives or grows there. I'm happy to walk with someone who likes to stop to sketch or watch the birds; although I don't do much of that myself, I'm happy to stand by or learn. Tea shops and pubs may happily feature but I'm also content to carry all I need in remote areas. I care less about reaching the intended destination of a walk than the enjoyment of the walk itself.

I look forward to meeting others in the Calder Valley/West Yorkshire area who are happy to meet me.

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. Sorry, but I really do not like walking with Dogs. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 70s, based near Melrose hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: My ideal day is being outdoors, walking and enjoying the beauty of the countryside. I think it's energy giving. I always feel better after a day out whether walking along a footpath beside the river or climbing a hill. I have lost my walking partner and would like to meet a like minded person to enjoy the simple pleasure in life.

A bit more about me:

I quite enjoy Scrambling & Edges but don't like too much exposure. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Rotherham hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I can do up to 10 miles walking and 20 cycling. I've done most of the Derbyshire walks. Done a lot of the Yorkshire Post walks too, which are more North and west Yorkshire. These have a simply drawn map and description,which I've managed to take the lead. Only ever got lost once. A confusing description, and I wasn't the only one who thought so.

I prefer Autumn, Winter and Spring walks. Not too good in the blazing heat, too many freckles. But our summers aren't that hot, usually.

I'm happy to explore further afield, and discover new places. Northumberland is on my list, and Scotland.

A bit more about me:

I really don't like Scrambling & Edges - they are defintely not for me. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Some Cycling, Not On The Road.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Merseyside hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I walk between 5 and 12 miles most days locally, but really enjoy a day in The Lakes or Snowdonia. I have little or no experience of the Peak District, but would like to meet someone familar with the area, to show me some beautiful and challenging routes.
I also hanker after camping out whilst attempting more challenging routes, like the coast-to-coast, but have yet to do so.
I visit the gym 3 or 4 times a week and play football each week, so consider myself reasonably fit. I work from home and have extremely flexible hours, so have plenty of freedom to take off at relatively short notice.
I like people with a smile, sense of irony and a compassionate nature. I am happy to be challenged with contrary views and philosophies to my own, but draw the line at devotees of Trump and Farage.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am a Male Walker, in my late 60s, based near Derby hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, I am looking for walking companions. Living close to the Peak district, this is where I do most of my walking. I usually walk around 8_10 miles, but don't mind short walks too and like to take in the scenery, photography playing a big part of my memories. I have visited many walking areas and really enjoyed them, in particular the Long Mynd, Pembroke coast, Lake District, Devon, Dorset and Yorkshire.
At the end of a walk I find nothing to beat a hearty pub meal and a pint. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Gillingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm Paul and I started walking during the first Covid lockdown to improve my physical health and mental well-being.

I had also hoped it would reduce my waistline, but I like my food too much. Fitness has improved, but weight loss is still a work in progress. I have recently started indoor cycling as well to burn some more calories and wouldn't mind going for a bike ride either.

I've increased my walking distance over time and can now comfortably manage up to 10 miles a day and continuing to increase this further.

I've only walked around Kent so far and would like to walk further afield and see as much of the UK and beyond as possible. I'm self employed so pretty flexible when it comes to when I can walk and I drive, so travelling to meet up for walks is no problem.

I'm up for an adventure or challenge and equally like walking along the coast or in the countryside. Day walks, weekend walks, camping or backpacking are fine by me. Picnic stops to admire the views and visiting places of interest along the way, followed by a nice pub at the end of the day are some of my favourite things. I like most genres of music, have a wicked sense of humour and am very easy going.

If you would like some company on a walk or bike ride, please get in touch.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Bath hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I used to go walking with my husband but sadly, he passed away.In the prime of our lives we climbed the highest mountains in the UK, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ireland etc. I'm retired now so have lots of time. I love travelling so can meet anywhere. I think I'm still fit and have a strong desire to continue to travel in this country and abroad.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Rugby hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I'm Andy. Having recently taken early retirement I want to spend as much time as possible walking and exploring our beautiful country (and abroad, when we're allowed!), something I didn't have enough time to do when I was working. I often walk alone, but it would be good to have company sometimes, especially on trips further afield and multiday walks. I go walking midweek (Monday to Thursday) which might fit your schedule if you work shifts or at weekends.

A perfect walk for me is one where you can constantly look around in awe at fantastic scenery, so I tend to gravitate towards hillwalking, mountains and coasts. I am reasonably fit and may walk up to 13 miles in a day, but I always look at the quality of the walk rather than the length, so often walk shorter distances. A perfect walk should also have some food and a couple of beers built in, either during or afterwards (preferably both!)

My day-walking in the past few years has been in the Peak District and The Cotswolds, as they are fairly local to me, but with longer trips to Snowdonia and Scotland. However, I am a confident navigator and am looking forward to exploring other areas of the country. I am a fan of staying in nice pubs with rooms when away from home for a night or two.
