I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Amersham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I'm based in S Bucks but love the mountains and hills: Peaks, Dartmoor, Beacons, Shropshire hills, mid-Wales, N and S Downs. I can get to them all in no more than three hours, have a great day's walking, and home again - as long as I'm out of the car for more than I'm in it, that's OK.

If you'd like to meet for a walk in these or any other (not too flat) regions, and are looking for friendship and company, I'd love to hear from you.

I've recently (2017) taken to my tent again after many years, so a bike ride with tent (and maybe skis) turns into a splendid adventure. The Lakes, Snowdonia, and Scotland are the real draws though, especially in winter conditions. I've been up to the far NW and the W and Central Highlands for the last few years and love them. And the Alps of course, and Arctic Norway!

I like mountains and hills. I walk among them and try to ski (downhill and touring) them, and recently mountain bike through them to save my legs when getting to the more remote ones. Try imagining the peaks and valleys under a kilometre of ice shaping the Lakes or Highlands into the dramatic wild places they can be today!

Until recently, I worked right in the middle of London which was enjoyable and different; I live at the end of a Tube line with a usually-muddy field-and-woods walk to my local station.

But I've made the move (end 2015) to working from home, in my own time, so I'm freed from the weekends-only bids for the outdoors.

Oh, and my name is Robert.

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;
  • Road Cycling
  • Mountain Biking
  • Skiing and/or Snowboarding

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Perthshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I live in Perthshire and have spent many years walking the hills in Scotland and abroad both with friends and animals (dogs). Over the last few years I have not been able to maintain that level of fitness, so now find myself starting at the beginning again. Would love to meet up with new friends who would like to join me getting back to fitness and enjoying nature and the hills once more. Initially would be looking for slower paced, shorter walks and would love to have the company of a dog once more, so if you have a dog, even better!!! If what I have said appeals then please drop me a line and hopefully we can find some great walks together.

My Message: Hi there, Lover of nature and my ideal day is a scenic walk and prefer an amble rather than fast pace ramble so can take it all in. Good map readers especially welcome as I was last in the queue when senses of direction were handed out! I'm free most weekends and sometimes mid week. If anyone local, early evening walks on the long days of spring/summer!

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Blackburn hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi there I'm Pete.
I've been exploring the lakes & Yorkshire dales for a good few years now as it's within easy reach from home, I've been walking those areas for years & can recall many routes from memory, but if needed I am a competent map reader (though not perfect I did get lost in the fog once) & would be happy to guide anyone less experienced.

I like something a bit more challenging now & again having done Jacks rake, & the traverse paths on great gable & bowfell. Will be climbing sharp edge & lords rake this year all being well. Although preferring the high level walks I'm just as happy lower down, just love the peace & quiet of being in nature.
For the future I'm looking to venture into the Peak District, Scotland or further afield.

I'm free every other weekend & being self employed can take time off during the week with little notice.

I am also interested in:

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Cockermouth hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi!
I'm new to Cumbria (and this site) - having recently moved to the area - after many years ambition to do so! So, primarily looking for male/female friends 'into the outdoors' - mainly fell walking/scrambling/Munro bagging - and all with my best friend - my English Springer Spaniel. Must like dogs - especially mine!
Recently returned from a few days mountain walking in the West Highlands - only another 184 Munros to go! HA! If you are up for that - good news!
Love the mountains and fells. Currently completing the Wainwrights - having given myself the challenge to do in a year! Enjoy a pint of real ale at the end of a decent day out - just reward!
I'm not looking for a relationship per se - just friends to share my love of the outdoors, hopefully with a good line in chat, ability not to take things (themselves) too seriously and up for a bit of 'leg pulling!'Enjoy the craic!'

UPDATE:-

Just completed the Wainwrights in less than 8 months -( :!
Thanks to those who have shared some of those walks with myself and my ESS!

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Cairngorm National Park hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi all fellow lovers of the outdoors! My name is John and I have chosen to live in the northern Cairngorms because I love stunningly beautiful landscapes and amazing wildlife. I walk mainly in Scotland these days and although I'm now a bit of an old geezer I'm still pretty fit and really enjoy getting out and about in the great outdoors to experience new challenges and rewards. It's great to camp in wild, remote locations, swim in azure lochs and pure silver rivers and gaze at the starlight explosions of crystal clear night skies. If you fancy joining me on a walk or hike out then please feel free to drop me a message.

PS: Sorry about the photo-I can't manage to smile genuinly at a one eyed machine!

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Bishop Auckland hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi.. great website! I moved up to County Durham in 2010 because of work and previous love of the scenery. I did Pennine Way 30 years ago (and love revisiting bits of it)but more recently the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way, Isaac's Tea Trail. I enjoy regular walking in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland. I've just completed C2C in 9 days (summer 2018) raising funds for the Great Northern Air Ambulance but shorter circular walks are just as appealing. I enjoyed the 2014 Hadrian's Wall Trekathon and raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. I often walk alone but always prefer human company to share the walk with. Am free many weekends (when not being musical) and am looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2018!! Andy

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Faversham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, my name is Gavin and I'm looking to find new walking / camping friends to explore the outdoors near to me and to have the occasional adventure further afield. I'm a busy teacher and father but my wife and children aren't as keen on the longer distance walks, and especially the camping, that I like to do. I'm recovering from a back injury and walking is a good way for me to keep my fitness levels up, and as long as I can have the occasional lie down, I'm good to go. I recently did some solo walking and camping in the very north of Scotland and really want to go back, possibly to the Hebrides. Would love to meet a like minded person or a group to walk, chat, camp and, perhaps, plan the odd bigger adventure.

My Message: A Yorkshire lass I'm enjoying making new memories and having new adventures here in the Highlands, wild swimming in lochs, walking in the mountains, exploring remote beaches and skiing.

I enjoy long distance walks and have started working my way through the Monroes, albeit very slowly!

Someone who could could help me improve my navigation skills to enable me to get up to some high level peaks (or show me the way up) would be great, also happy to have a wild swim afterwards would be even better!

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Newbury hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I'm a fun-loving, adventurous guy living in Newbury, Berkshire. I'm happy walking alone, but it's so much more fun (and better conversation) with two so I'm looking for male or female friends to join me on walks locally (around Berks/Hants/Wilts) or further afield (anywhere really - from Cornwall to Scotland, Snowdonia to Norfolk).

I also enjoy scrambling (tho' not great with heights), cycling (more off-road than on), camping (wild or civilised), flying kites - I'm essentially very adaptable! I'm happy to explore any areas of the UK - the wilder the better - so if you're interested in joining me then please drop me a line.

ps: I love dogs and have my own, but he's not great with distances so tends to stay at home mostly, unless it's a short walk and my company likes dogs.

My Message: Hi There, I'm looking to meet new people/friends to go on some nice walks or camping/kayaking adventures with in the UK or abroad. I live in London but grew up in the country and I'm struggling to find people that love the outdoors and escaping the city as much as I do, or that don't have other responsibilities. I am happy hiking all day or multi day hikes, I also love a bit of kayaking, bouldering, pretty much anything that burns a bit of energy and I am more than happy to drive wherever for a nice walk and chat. My Message: Hi, I live in Glasgow, with my border collie Rannoch, not far from Loch Lomond. I used to be a regular walker in my younger days and I'm looking to get back into the great outdoors but would prefer to do it with some company, so I am looking for new friends to go walking with.
I've done the West Highland Way three times, The Great Glen Way once and would love to try some of our other long distance national trails, but, I'm also happy to do day walks.
I'm easy going, enjoy new challenges, and always up for a laugh, life's too short to be too serious !!!
I love nature and wildlife, love taking photos, and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
If you fancy some company on a walk please get in touch.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands;

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Female Walker, in my early 40s, based near Leicester hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello is anyone free to join myself and my dog Cocoa, for day hikes during the week as I work the weekends? Although this may well change in the near future to becoming a weekend warrior. I have travelled to hike fairly extensively all over the UK national parks and to mention a few places; have visited Snowdonia, Isle of Skye; Peak District; Cotswolds and parts of Hadrian's Wall. Favourite places are definitely the Lakes and Cairngorms. I would say I am of average fitness and tend to walk fairly slowly but do like to be out all day so roughly aim for about 10 miles a day regardless of terrain. I like to bag 2/3 summits at a time if possible. Definitely want to see what Torridon is like but it's a long way to drive on my own and I hope to visit the Alps and Pyrenees as well as the rest of the world to hike or cycle in the future. i love the adventures with my pup but it would be great to find some company who I can actually hold a conversation with!

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 4:5:6:7:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North West England; The English Midlands; Wales; The Heart of England; South East England;

A bit more about me:

I really don't like Scrambling & Edges - they are defintely not for me.

  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Road Cycling
  • Mountain Biking

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Brighton hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: White male aged 66, 40 years walking experience, living in Sussex, fit and friendly seeks to meet an adventurous male or woman walking companion aged about 40+ for walking local and national trails together in the UK and in Europe. Any individual willing to explore the hidden and interesting bye ways of Britain, if warm sleep out during the summer and enjoy a few beers at the end of a days challenging walking, before England and Wales become so sanitized it will look like a theme park( see George Monbiot).

Probably suitable for someone living in London or the South-East but, but if practicable, I would not exclude other contacts from around the country. Most important is the love of the countryside, coastal paths and Highlands of Scotland, quiet places and friendly conversation.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:4:5:6:7:8:9:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; Wales; South West England;

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. I'm happy to walk in most weathers but do not like snow and ice. Sorry, but I really do not like walking with Dogs. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive but do not have access to a vehicle.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Back Packing - Multi-day walks carrying all your gear & wild camping;

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Wallasey hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi I'm Dave a 65 year old male looking for a female walking companion. I live on the Wirral and generally walk in Wales, the Northern fells (Yorkshire & Cumbria) and Scotland. I completed the Munros a quite few years ago and am gradually working my way through other hill lists. I head up to Scotland regularly and have a cottage near Torridon.

Happy to do some low level walks, but prefer to gain some height for the views and exercise. Fairly fit and prefer to keep a steady pace, stopping to look at the scenery and wildlife, but can crack on when needed. Enjoy driving and so distance isn't a problem.

Generally walk at weekends, but can walk mid-week as I am retired, though I do have a few other interests such as D-I-Y and cooking which use some time...

Good sense of direction and can navigate reliably in difficult conditions. Easy going with a sense of humour and enjoy conversation. Like to visit a pub afterwards for a drink.

If you are interesting in joining me then please get in touch.

A bit more about me:

I love Scrambling & Edges - the more exposure the better. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. Even if I say so myself, I consider my map reading & navigation skills to be excellent. I can drive and have my own Campervan/Motorhome.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 30s, based near Whitchurch.

My Message: Hi I'm looking to meet new people/friends to have fun with and share some nice days out walking. I'm originally from Scotland but moved to South Cheshire a few years ago. I'm out most weekends walking or mountain biking so I'm reasonably fit. I also love camping so happy to go away for a camping/walking weekend. I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Muir Of Ord.

My Message: Hello my name is Sue and I live in the highlands. I'm looking for walking friend/s to enjoy the fabulous scenery! I've not done much serious walking for a few years as have been into triathlon and lately cycling. Now I feel it's a good time to get back to walking, either long or short but am a bit wary of ridges! My other interests are gardening (because I've got one) theatre, cinema, good food, travel and my dog. Just to mention a few! I'm retired so have time to go off whenever I feel like it, why don't you join me? Thanks for reading.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Malton.

My Message: Hi, Out of practice walker looking for someone to help me get a bit fitter. Having been dog free for a few years I could easily slip into couch potato mode, I did have some encouragement to get out there but am rapidly slipping back into the mire! I can walk around 6-7 miles no problem and up to 10 on a good day.I have walked quite a lot in the Dales in the past and more recently on the Wolds. I like to enjoy the scenery, take photos etc and a walk with a pub at the end is always better! Im looking for male or female walking companions, initially to walk fairly locally but hopefully maybe have weekends away later. I have my own transport, Im quite chatty and enjoy a good laugh, I don't have any objection to dog owners. I will reply to all messages. Hope to meet new friends soon.
