I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near London hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello! My name is Umesh and I am keen to find someone to explore hiking trails with over, in particular, over the next few months given we can't travel overseas.

I'm a keen hiker and amateur mountaineer (last year I climbed Mont Blanc and Kili) but really just enjoy getting out into nature and it doesn't have to be too strenuous. When we are allowed, I'd ideally like to do a bit more exploring in the Lakes and perhaps further afield in Scotland and Wales.

I'm not working at the moment so have plenty of time on my hands although that could change. I'm currently studying for my WSET level 3 wine course so am a bit tied up with that over the next few weeks but looking for some adventures in July!

My Preferred Walk Areas:

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Road Cycling
  • Mountain Biking

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Female Walker, in my late 40s, based near Frimley hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am a Female Walker, 50, based near Chester, but working near London. My walking friend and partner has passed away and I am hoping to meet either Male and Female new friend (s) to go walking with. When weather is bad on the hills, the alternative coastal walks combined with occasional bird watching (Norfolk, North Devon, Pembrokshire,…) is also an option.
I'm looking for walks about 6 to 9 hours per day, all year round. I've climbed Mont Blanc and Matterhorn in the past, so happy with any terrain. I am now too old and wise to still enjoy walking in fog and howling winds though. I like remote mountain walks and moorland walks and don't enjoy walking with crowds.
I can read maps but not enough practice for finding my way out with GPS or compass/map in fog.
I can drive but as I work in the south of England, I've been lucky that so far to have a friend who could pick me up from a train station near the walks location (Chester, Penrith, Kendal, York,…) and drive me to the walks and hotels.
I would not be walking with someone with a dog, or a party of more than 3, as it scares the wild-life which is a collateral interest of the walks. Age not a problem, I have a variety of interests and most importantly I am a good listener & interested in other peoples' interests as I enjoy learning.I am easy to get on with and certainly not into 'competetive' walking. I just love to get out and enjoy the view.
I don't expect or want to walk at the same pace as my companion, as I enjoy the solitary aspect of the walks, but to keep in the visual range but have stops and breaks together.

I stay in hotels, pub and B&B to enjoy the rest after the walk. I'd love to have again a companion again with whom I can a general culture conversation.
I'm working, so can rarely do more than Friday lunch time until Sunday evening. I need at least 3 week notice to book the week end and I'm happy to decide in the last days where to go depending on the weather.

Important: For the avoidance of doubt, I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 20s, based near Bury hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello,
I am interested in meeting male or female friends to go walking with, especially now the warmer weather is approaching (provided that this lockdown eventually ends). I am based in Lancashire however I can drive and have a car so I am willing to go further afield. I am a bit out of practise with walking very long distances as my friends are not the hiking-types so I've struggled to find people to go with me in the past. However, I would really like to challenge myself and I hope to meet like minded people. I have a springer spaniel who would be joining me.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Near Lands End hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Retired male just looking for some good easy going female company, for hikes along the South West Coast Path, and in other parts of the UK. I'm retired so travelling is not a problem. I would like to walk in Scotland, The Lakes, Wales and possibly Ireland at some point.
Obviously at the moment, the country is in virtual lockdown, due to the Corona Virus, as I write this 20/3/20 So I'm doing my best to follow the governments advice.
So for the time being it's going to be hikes away from the crowds on my own, and should I meet another hiker en-route then I'll resort to vaulting over the nearest hedge, to avoid contact ;)

So I'll carry on as the lone hiker, for the time being.

Good luck to all the hikers and walkers here, and to any NHS workers on this forum, God Bless you all.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Buxton hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm Chris, from Manchester, now exiled in Buxton! Married happily for 30 years, and living with the wife and Jim the dog. Made redundant last year after some 25 years at IBM but have plans to get back to work eventually. For now, I'm enjoying my time off. We both (the wife and I) have a passion for the countryside, Scotland and the Peak District in particular. Unfortunately due to health issues my wife is now unable to do much walking - aside from pottering around the villages etc. While I'm certainly no major league trekker myself, I am fond of a brisk stroll around the hills and valleys of the peaks whenever I can, taking in the air, views and fascinating archaeological sites. Be nice to have someone to chat with along the way, so, I'm looking for someone, male/female, any age, in a similar position, who may be up for the occasional (none too arduous) stroll and fancies sharing their own favourite walks with another interested party? Weekdays or weekends, meet there, arrange pickup, whatever, I'm flexible on all that stuff. Drop me a line if interested, thanks.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 60s, based near London hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I've always enjoyed walking - but I'm not what you'd call a 'serious walker'. I'm energetic and I can enjoy walking quite fast - or taking a more leisurely stroll. Presently I walk alone, but not far enough or adventurously enough, because my sense of direction and map reading skills are (regrettably) zero. I'd like to learn, though - and especially to share more general thoughts, ideas and reflections about all kinds of things with another walker - exploring your slant on life - and some laughter would be good, too. I'd appreciate advice about things I could buy that would improve my enjoyment of walking (I'm thinking especially of those long, spiked poles that look very impressive and I imagine they're pretty useful, but I don't know how to choose the right ones). Ending a walk at a pub or caf' may be pleasant occasionally; weekends would be good from my viewpoint. So - moving, talking, exchanging ideas and learning: that's what I'd like. Would that be good for you, too?

My Message: I love living and working in the Peak District and have walked a fair
Few routes over the years. I have the most appalling sense of direction but I am
happy to follow someone who can actually read an OS map. I love walking and also swimming but exercise has taken a back seat for a while for all sorts of reasons. I also love having a good matter and a laugh. I am available most weekends and I could make Wednesday afternoons if it fits in with other walkers. I have travelled reasonably extensively and in my younger days climbed in various parts of the world. I would like 2020 to be the start of a new chapter in my life and would really enjoy some company and direction on walks!!! Looking forward to hearing from you soon

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi. I'm an easy-going romantic with a love of the countryside - high rugged areas, green and pleasant lands, peaceful valleys and windswept ridges. Not averse to a few home comforts, nice BandBs, concerts, cooking, camping if needs must. Working, but lots of spare weekdays and weekends, plenty of ideas of what I want to do more of - visits to the Highlands, Wales, and anywhere else that takes my fancy. It would be nice to share these good times with a like-minded, independent female. You will find me (I hope) considerate, good-humoured and honest.

My Message: I can plod along quite happily provided that there aren't too many steep bits, as I'm not that fit yet, though hoping to improve! I am interested in (but no expert on) flora and fauna (especially birds), so would value meeting others who have knowledge in these areas. I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Northamptonshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi,
I am planning a weeks hiking in the German Alps in southern Bavaria in May 2020 and would like to share this experience. I stumbled across this area by chance when looking for something to do prior to a 'Night of the Proms' concert in Munich in Dec 2019. I made 3 all day hikes in what turned out to be a snowbound Winter wonderland and would like to discover what it is like in the Spring.
In preparation I am planning a few all day walks Feb - Apr 2020 in the Peak District and possibly the Lake District.
I am 66 years old and reasonably fit. I do not route march in fact quite the opposite. I would think my pace on the flat is 2 to 3 miles an hour and a lot less going up mountains. If you are interested in joining me or just want to find out more please feel free to contact me.

My Message: Hi

I enjoy walking and scrambling in the UK, and simply looking for a handful of friends to enjoy some company with in the hills.

I've climbed, scrambled and walked in the UK and abroad but now I'm getting older just simply looking for someone to walk with, midlands based ideally to allow for evening meets in the summer.

I'm in Wolverhampton so many areas are fairly accessible.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Basingstoke hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am a happy and fun loving 53 year old woman who enjoys walking and riding a tandem. I am a good listener and enjoy both chatty walks and peaceful times in the countryside.
Unusually I am a visually impaired walker who needs to be guided but not supported to walk confidently, so I am looking for kind men and women who are happy for me to gently hold their arm.
Wwalking companions who are not too far away would be ideal, although I am happy to travel by train to meet for walks.
I have regularly been walking 6-10 miles at the weekend until two months ago. I go to the gym four times a week and swim to keep fit. I used to enjoy looking at wild flowers and birds when walking but this is more limited now. A good pub at the end of a walk is always welcome!

I hope to meet a companion for regular walks and possibly walking holidays in the future, in the UK and abroad. I work so I am only free to walk on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and when on holidays from work.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Weymouth hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm Leo. I'm single and retired with no commitments, so free to walk anytime.

I was brought up in Dorset, and walking the hills and coast path is something I've enjoyed since childhood. I don't consider myself a dedicated walker, so I am very happy to combine walking with some exploration, sight seeing and of course, lunch or coffee.

I would like to meet similar minded men or women who like the outdoors and nature but perhaps would also like to share other interests. Mine include the sea, travel, art, theatre, tennis(beginner) and raquetball. I'm fairly easy going and enjoy new places and experiences.

Finding new friends local to me would be great for regular walks, but I also like to go on walking holidays in the UK or abroad.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
Wales; The Heart of England; South East England; South West England;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Female Walker, in my early 40s, based near Narberth hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi there, I accidentally stumbled on this site when looking for walking groups, but this looks much better. I thought why not, this may be what I've been looking for.
I'm a young 42 year old. I work and live in Pembrokeshire, lucky me ! I really enjoy walking/ hiking, Snowdon and last year Mount Teide in Tenerife, have been my latest adventures. I'd like to do more hiking abroad, Peru is on my list. I've done some of the Pembrokeshire coast path with work but not as much as I would like. It's such a waste as it's on my doorstep ! I do walk on my own here, but it would be nice once in a while to walk with others. So if your looking to walk here and you need a fellow walking companion or up for walking somewhere else, give me a shout. Look forward to hearing from you.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 2:3:4:5:6:7:8:9:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; Southern Scotland; North West England; Wales;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Road Cycling
  • Skiing and/or Snowboarding

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Inverness hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi,

Just moved back to Scotland after a few years away. Now based in the Highlands (Torridon only 40 minutes way!).

Completed all the Munros now doing the Corbetts, 100 or so left so unfortunately a bit of a focused bagger!

I try to get out one day during the week as I can't get away at the weekend for the time being.

Anyway anyone fancy doing a walk let me know!

John.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Settle hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi,

My miles have dropped off with the weather so I currently do 15 miles a week over about 2-3 walks on fairly straightforward terrain. I've other interests that keep me exercised and outdoors too but I'm very keen to meet a local walking partner....

.... one who might encourage me to try new walks and more challenging ones - and be happy to take a welcome break on the way or at the end.

So if you like walking on my side of the lakes, by national park, Bowland forest or Malhamdale please get in touch. Occasionally further afield is fine too but not interested in frequent long drives.

With Best wishes. Alyson

I am a Male Walker, in my early 40s, based near Oakham, Rutland hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi everyone, I would love to meet up with other people to walk - virtually anywhere. I particularly love hill-walking (Scotland, Lakes and Snowdonia my favourite) and have bagged some 3000fters, but am keen to walk anywhere. Friends and family are just not hikers. Even my dog is ageing so much that a short walk around the park will satisfy him (he stays at home/in the car when I walk).

I love camping, hiking in beautiful scenery, and would love some company. I have a car and am happy to travel, although of course if you are closer to me meeting up for a day hike will be easier. With a busy work schedule, I am generally a weekend walker but will take time off when I get a walking opportunity that is too good to miss.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 60s, based near North Lincolnshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Lakes...plenty. North Wales...plenty. Peak district...lots. North Yorkshire...a few. N W Scotland...planning for 2020. Log fires a bonus at the end but tea and cakes are good as well. Love mountains and views in all seasons and May for wild flowers. Looking to walk off track and improve my navigation skills. Lucky to be able to walk any day now that I'm retired and like to do multi day walks. C to C in September was a challenge but completed. Recently got hooked by wild camping. Its crazy, I know, but such an adventure.
