I am a Male Walker, in my mid 70s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live close to the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there and around me, not to race to the end. What would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments or a meal. I'm just into my 70's but am fit and younger in appearance and character. I can get along with most people of all ages. I am vegan and so would love to meet a vegan or veggie if possible. I generally like to walk between 5-15 miles I'm chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. I drive and don't see anywhere on the mainland as too far. My other interests are landscape photography, art, city and country breaks and the theatre to mention a few but always happy to try something new. Chris

My Message: I am passionate about the hills, wild places and like a challenge. I'm easy going and have a soh - semi-retired so can walk in the week as well as at week-ends. I usually walk with groups, friends or alone to practice navigation (which I am reasonable at). I am a reasonably fit 'plodder' and hillwalking is my main interest - its always better to share adventures with likeminded others. I moved to the Yorkshire dales five years ago and am enjoying having some great walking on the doorstep. I've walked extensively in Scotland, Lake District, North Wales and Europe. Most of my walking is done in North Wales, only occasionally straying over the border into Shropshire, I do circular walks as the only way to get around wales quickly is by car, I do a huge variety of walks, Walks around lakes and reservoirs, Mountain peaks, Canal walks, follow moorland tracks, and streams to their source,.
Most of the walks are published (off the peg walks), but i like to plan and research my own walks as well. I do remote moorland walks as i like the peace and solitude, Moorlands are the last of the unspoilt countryside free from the clutter of modern living.
When i go walking i like to take photographs of my walk as this forms a visual picture board memory of my walks,.

My Message: Avid mountaineer and skier to the mid-2000's, I've explored the Alps, Cascades, Eryri, Brycheiniog, Lake District and Scotland. Living in the Peak District puts lots of walks on my doorstep so hoping to share knowledge and experiences of our coasts, hills and mountains. Moving into retirement after a global career focused on marine sciences. Guardian reader, Europhile and omnivore (I do graze as well). My approach is “slow and steady” due to excessive wear and tear. A pub at the end of a hike is always welcome!

Hiking companion and co-adventurer sought who is down to earth, compassionate, adventurous and has a GSOH! Happy to engage in conversations on all manner of topics or simply enjoy the quiet of the great outdoors. A good old-fashioned friendship first and foremost!

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Shrewsbury hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I mix and match my walks, so that can mean anything from a short river stroll to a long distance path,I'm planning to do the Great Glen Way soon(ish). I completed a month long walk in Spain earlier this year but that was quite an unusual one for me.

I also do short trips away walking (or mostly walking) several times a year where I based in one place, again camping. I'm only a couple of hours from the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia.

A few years ago I rearranged my life so I now have a lot of flexibility in my life, the chances are that I cam fit in with your schedule.

It's not all walking, and in truth I'm not hyperactive, so I do a some overseas travel which doesn't necessarily include strenuous hikes. Last tear I did a trip to Moroccan Sahara with a vehicle. Recently I booked the cheapest flight that I could find to India and then worked out some approximate travel plans around that.

As you may have noticed, I ticked the box to say that I am looking for walking friends but I would be happy if someone special came along. If you think you might be that someone special' then I'm happy to share a bit more about myself.

My Message: Interested in finding a walking buddy, male or female to explore places in UK as well as abroad. It would be nice to have company, a bit of chit chat etc while out hiking.
I have walked many of the popular routes; summit mountains in Lakes District, North Wales. Peaks District is my nearest stomping ground.
I would love to explore Scotland, South Wales and the South of England more. As they are further to drive to I haven't spent much time there.
Done Hadrian Walls Walk a few years ago; The Cleveland Way last year; The West Highland Way will begin in May 2024, The Cumbria Way will follow sometime this year. The Coast to Coast is on the pipeline. I would loved to have company with these long distance walks.

I am employed, with a certain flexibility for weekday or weekend meet up.

As a person,I'm easy going with gsoh, can easily laugh at myself ; not easily offended. I can hold a conversation but not a chatter box, but if you are I'm a great listener.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Bishop Auckland hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I have enjoyed hill walking since my childhood - alongwith a sense of freedom, space and challenge it helps me refuel my inner strength to deal with anything during the working week.

I moved up to Bishop Auckland in 2010 for work and to be nearer the hills. I walked the Pennine Way in 1986 and always enjoy revisiting bits of it. More recently I've completed the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way,C2C,Offa's Dyke Path & Isaac's Tea Trail and hoped to complete Hadrian's Wall Path 2020 but didn't!!. In June 2021 I completed Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in 11.5hrs for Alzheimer's Society with my brother but I continue to enjoy regular walking in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland with a fantastic local fell walking club (which I help run) and am free many weekends and during the school holiday times.I am soon to retire and look forward to more walking in good company.

My Message: I'm looking to meet up with like-minded people to enjoy walks in the countryside and ideally, bag the odd historical landmark along the way. I'm easy going and up for a laugh. I am working on my fitness levels to increase distances over time and find the reward of a pub at the end of the day the best incentive. My Message: Hi, I used to be keen long distance walker, I've walked some of the national trails including the Pennine way and half the south west coast path.... I was out every weekend and most of my holidays. However due to a failed relationship (she said she liked walking but it turned out only to the shops and back!!) I haven't really been walking for 3 years.... I'm looking to get back into walking and would like to find someone who's interested in day walks of 10 to 15 miles with a little drink and a comfy fire at the end of it. maybe, over time, linking the individual walks into long trails.... Looking for a walking partner to enjoy the scenery. Love coastal/beach walks but also countryside. It is all about the views and vistas.

Quality not quantity …..I think about 7-10 miles is my limit for a day's walking.

A good walk and chat would be nice. Can do during the week as well as weekends.

Would like to do more hill walking as I live in a very flat area!

I have always enjoyed being in the hills and mountains and spent 15 years as a member of a busy mountain rescue team, so I've a good idea of what im doing out there!!
Ive travelled fairly extensively throughout Europe and done on ortwo big mountains over the years.

These days though are spent at a more sedate pace, I love the Scottish mountains and venture up there two or three times a year, but most weekends I'm up in the Howgills near Sedburgh, the western Yorkshire dales or this lovely area where I live.

I'm not interested in joining a ramblers club or walking with a big group of people...they're not for me. I do go walking occasionally with two or three very close friends but it would be nice to find someone on the same wavelength who would like to share some happy days in the hills come rain or shine.

My Message: Hi there

I'm a relaxed, friendly and positive person who enjoys meeting new people.

I like spending whole days walking and would love to meet someone who could join me. I also like half day walks too! I'd particularly like to do long distance paths either over a series of weekends or for a few days.

I'm fit and active with a love of nature so walking is more about the beauty around me than ticking off a bucket list, or marking up achievements. Nothing wrong with those but they're not what motivates me.

I also love a good conversation and whilst I happily go for solo walks it's nice to share the experience with a friend or two so I hope to meet some friends on here!

I've specified the southern half of the country, not because I don't want to walk further afield but I'm being practical about what I can fit in during a normal working week. I work full time but have weekends, summer evenings (if you're not far away) and generally work a 9 day fortnight so I get a couple of extra days a month. I also have holidays and because I live alone and don't have children I can be flexible.

I'm not confident with dogs but if you have a well-behaved small or medium-sized dog I'll probably be ok with it.

I'd also be up for trips to other parts of the UK and abroad.

My Message: I am now retired so have plenty of time to go walking locally and nationally. I can sometimes make plans at short notice. I am friendly and reliable and like to chat on a walk.

My Message: I moved to The Lake District in February 2014, having spent the previous 30 years living and working in London. My two children are in their early 30's and still in London. I started a B&B/self catering business here in Ambleside and I've climbed all the Wainwrights in between dealing with my guests. My interests extend to wildlife and the preservation of wild places. I play in a samba drumming band, sing with a local choir, I'm in the local mountain rescue team, the local water pressure group and enjoy live music of most genres. My Message: Hello all,

It's been well over two years since I've been on here so this is seriously overdue an update.

I'm originally from Essex but currently reside in Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Before this I had spent 5 years in Australia as an expedition leader and outdoor instructor.

Since my first posting on the message board I have summited Mount Olympus, Ben Nevis and Snowdon (still need Scarfell)
I have also bagged a couple of the lesser peaks in Wales.

Currently, I'm really enjoying wild camping. I have been doing some multi-day hikes here and just this summer found some cool little spots around Europe.

my biggest achievement to date is back in 2022 I managed to complete the 'West Highland Way' and 'Great Glen Way' back to back.

Apart from the great outdoors I love music (the soundtracks to our lives!), enjoy most sports but also like more mundane pursuits (reading, games, tinkering and crafts)

I'm still walking mostly on my own. As much as the solitude is sometimes nice, I would much appreciate some company, banter and motivation.
