I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Swansea hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I'm 58 and live near Gower/Swansea and would love to meet new walking companions as most of my friends aren't interested and the ones who are, have other demands on their time.
Unfortunately, due to concerns around Covid I haven't managed to go walking, or get out and about in general, as much as I would like in the last couple of years. I've just started again, weather permitting, although I'm not particularly fond of walking alone, but I have to rebuild my fitness and stamina. If I was lucky enough to meet someone local to me then I envisage perhaps doing a few relatively easy walks around Gower/Pembrokeshire initially and then tackling some steeper hills and mountains. I dislike winter intensely but am quite able to go walking in cold conditions (a few Western Canadian winters toughened me up in that regard).
I work full-time and am also doing an OU degree so until the lighter evenings return I'm tied to weekends, mainly in South/West/Mid Wales. Once spring arrives, however, I'd be happy to take leave from work to walk locally or further afield. I've been walking and camping in the Canadian Rockies, plus various N American National Parks, several times and I want to go back to Dartmoor and N Devon, Ireland and the Lake District in the coming years. I'd also like to hike in Scotland, Norway eg Lofoten Islands and the Grand Canyon and definitely want to visit Cuba someday.
I'm a bit of a contradiction really, being an introverted extrovert; however, I can get along with most people and hold my own on various subjects. I've noticed that there are many donkeys missing hind legs in my vicinity although I do also enjoy peace and quiet and just being aware of and contemplating nature. I love dogs, horses and most other animals, and my interests include music, reading, camping, travelling, summer nights in beer gardens, comedy clubs, spirituality, being by the sea, swimming, geography, history, politics and volunteering. I'm a car owner/driver and am happy to travel across the UK and Ireland. I often think about sea swimming but that's as far as I've got, so if you're into that then all the better!

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West England; Wales; The Heart of England; South West England; Connacht, Ireland; Munster (Am Mhumhain), Ireland;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Cambridge hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am currently walking the England Coast Path and am up to Southampton. I am looking for friends to continue walking from Poole onwards (west) on the South East Coast Path, towards Land's End. I generally walk 6-10 miles a day (but can walk a bit more) for a few days, then drive back home for a rest. I generally stay in hotels, but camping and b&bs are also ok. You could join me for a few days for one section, or even just one day, that's ok. Other areas, especially East Anglia or the coast of Wales, are also ok.
I am easy going, like to drink coffee and tea, the occassional drink in a pub, watch a bit of football. I especially like chatting to locals in cafes and pubs along the way when I stop for a rest from walking. For me, walking the coast path is more about meeting people and learning about the UK than purely the exercise. I am British, was born and grew up here, but spent most of my adult life abroad in different countries. I am open to meeting different kinds of people.

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I prefer warm, dry & sunny weather but can cope with the odd shower. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. If pushed, I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are rather poor at best. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Bushey hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, I'm David, I'm 64 and widowed. Life is for living and I'm not ready to just sit back in a comfortable armchair having spent a number of years bringing up a young family alone. I'm hoping to make new friends for adventures and challenges,both here in the UK and overseas. I want to grab life for myself and start exploring the great outdoors. I'm fit and love being outdoors in all weathers, either walking or running. There aren't many hills in Hertfordshire so I'm happy to travel, although I'm also interested in more local walks across fields, bridleways and canal footpaths, especially if there is the incentive of coffee and cake. I'm generally a novice walker although have previously walked in the Peak District, Yorkshire, The Lake District and Scotland. My kids say they have the local care home on speed dial so I'm hoping to be rescued.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Bournemouth hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: A bit about me; l'm a widow, single, adventurous, fit and happy.
I enjoy walking anywhere and would like to explore new areas. I have walked some of the SW coastal path and would like to do more of this. Also love walking in the countryside, be it just me and my spaniel, or with friends. It would be lovely to meet new friends to walk with and share conversation, a good yarn or a laugh, maybe a beer or coffee along the way.
Happy also to explore areas further afield, and willing to travel.
I live on the Dorset coast so also enjoy sea dips and kayaking and messing about on/by the water.
I have walked the Camino de Santiago and may return to walk sections again sometime. Open to suggestions for new adventures and fun.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Basingstoke hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I now work part time so have plenty of time to go walking locally and nationally. I am friendly and reliable and like to chat on a walk.

I am looking for people who love walking and are looking for someone to join them. I would like to meet someone who is also interested in walking some of the long distance paths across the country. Sometimes we need a bit of motivation and encouragement and it is always better to have some company and support. Distance and speed are not that important. I equally enjoy local half day walks in the south of England to all day challenges in the mountains. But, it's always nice to end up in a country pub at the end of the day.

I am a reasonable map reader and whilst generally cautious by nature, I am fairly confident in the mountains. I have a car so can travel as necessary. I like to chat about about most things and it would be a bonus if you had a good sense of humour too.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near West Yorkshire hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi all,

I'm a late-forties male, and I would like to meet a new female walking partner and also friends either male or female. Time spent walking and enjoying our wonderful countryside just being outdoors is even better with the right person.

I enjoy all forms of walking, multi-day, long distance paths and less strenuous steady day walks too. Oddly enough my walks usually end at a nice country pub or two! Can't think why...There is nothing nicer than a lovely pub at the end of a great days walking.
I'm experienced at map reading and navigating and I enjoy the planning of walks on both traditional paper maps and also using GPS.
Sometimes I'll take a lightweight tent and camp and make it an outdoors weekend or stay in a B&B when exploring new areas.
My 'bread and butter' walking area is Yorkshire but I'm equally happy anywhere in the countryside.

I work part-time; so I've some availability on a weekday and also some weekends too. If you want a partner or friend to walk with who won't get you lost (I promise!) and has a good sense of humour, that could be me! Please do drop me a line..

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 60s, based near Salisbury hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm Al, a male walker hoping to meet a female walking companion. I've been into sport all my life, team sports, the gym, running and now walking. I'm getting back into fitness with jogs/walks in the woods and back in the gym and I would to get back to day long walks in the hills and Dales. I work a 4 day week at the moment but go part time in September '22 so can walk during the week and at weekends. I would like to start with a stroll around town and lunch or whatever and then build up to longer walks but I appreciate that it would take time to build the confidence to walk with a man in the woods or the hills. I'm flexible and more than willing to compromise. Ideally I would like to meet an independent lady who takes an interest in the world around her and is happy to discuss and debate her own opinions. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Rotherham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am looking to meet people who own boots and wellies and don't mind getting them covered in mud. I am happy to meet people of any age who shared a love of the outdoors and doesn't mind me stopping from time to time to take photographs.

The Peak District is on my doorstep, but have walked in areas including Wales, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, Assynt in Scotland. I have been up Ben Nevis, Snowdon, and Scafell Pike, but would happily walk there again.

I have done the three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales but over a couple of days.

I work full time in a college, but school holidays and weekends I am free. Evening walks are possible if they are local.

My level of fitness is good and improving, though that is a story to share during a walk.

I am a life member of English Heritage and the National Trust. As such I can visit such places with a guest. I love photography, history, wildlife etc. I would rather not talk about education or computing (Unless its for a good cause).

My walking aims are to look at amazing views, Camp in amazing places including a plot of land I can wild camp on in Scotland, and just enjoy it all.

If you are cold, wet, have been rained on all day and can still smile then anything is possible.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 50s, based near Marlow hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, I am hoping to find male or females, interested in joining me for walking in Cumbria. I've been enjoying the hills for 30 years, and love being in the out of doors.
For the last 7 years, I've been completing the HEWITTS challenge, and nearly come to an end, so am also trying out wild water swimming and kayaking. I enjoy camping and my bell tent, Boris.
I presently live in the SE, in Buckinghamshire, but try to spend much time up north, with an eventual move to live in the Keswick area.
Recently separated, I look forward to exploring new relationships and making contacts with people who enjoy the mountains.

I quite enjoy Scrambling & Edges but don't like too much exposure. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;
  • Mountain Biking
  • Skiing and/or Snowboarding

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Female Walker, in my early 70s, based near Devon hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I've done loads of walking overseas - recently in the Apuans and Appenines - and several long-distance paths (SW Coast Path, Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Tramontana in Majorca, Lycian Way in Turkey) and get out once or twice a week locally in Devon, and have had holidays in Lake District, Cairngorms, Brecon Beacons, Peak District, Cotswolds etc. etc.! I'm not really into bagging peaks but will gladly accompany someone who wants to. My ideal is a day out, walking up to 12 miles or so, with ascents (don't like the descents so much as it's hard on the old knees but if you go up......). I have found group walking not too good - I'm so used to walking on my own that I don't converse as much as others - but feel that, as I get older, a companion is a good idea!

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 3:4:5:6:7:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; South West England;

I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near Nottingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I live close to the Peak District. I know it really well and love it, but equally love walking in Wales, The Lakes, Yorkshire, Northumbria and other parts too. I first got the walking bug whilst doing a charity walk in Snowdonia in 1998 (Crib Goch at 4 a.m.). I'm happy walking on hilltops and along valleys, canals, rivers and dales. I walk to chill and enjoy what's there and around me, not to race to the end. What would make my day complete though is some good company to share the views, some good conversation (serious or silly), laughter and after walk refreshments or a meal. I'm just into my 70's but am fit and younger in appearance and character. I can get along with most people of all ages. I generally like to walk between 5-10 miles I'm chilled, have a quick wit and great sense of humour. I drive and don't see anywhere on the mainland as too far. My other interests are landscape photography, art, city breaks and the theatre to mention a few but always happy to try something new. If you enjoy your walking and are interested in joining me, doplease get in touch.

I am a Female Walker, in my late 40s, based near Warminster hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I'm hoping to meet a female walking buddy for half day, full day or multi day hikes. Some camping would be great also, especially wild camping. I particularly love walking in Dartmoor/Exmoor and certainly prefer hills and mountains to coast, but am open to pretty much anything.
I am generally fairly quiet and self contained, but would love to have someone to appreciate everything time in the hills and off the beaten track offers. I currently solo walk (with my dog), have my own car and usually have a day or two off in the week as well as most weekends.
If any of this sounds interesting, please do drop me a line and say hi!

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Stoke On Trent hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I'm a recently retired 63 year old living in the Staffordshire Moorlands. I moved here when I retired as I enjoy walking in the Peak District so much but also enjoy walking in other areas. Location isn't too important as I am prepared to travel to meet for a walk.

I am fit and competent and enjoy a challenging walk or an easy walk and I like to take in the views whichever. I am open to any level of walk as it's sometimes good to just get out and it's always good to find a good pub or cafe at the end. As well as walking I also enjoy running and cycling although I can just enjoy being outdoors watching and listening. It's the simple things in life that appeal to me most.

As much as I enjoy the outdoors it is by no means everything to me. I enjoy listening to a lot of music having a very broad taste and especially like live music but not in big venues. I also enjoy cinema and theatre or just having a chat in a café or pub with friends.

It would be great to share the outdoors and other things with a like minded woman though I have a very inquisitive mind and I'd be more than happy to be introduced to new interests.

My boring details are I'm single with no children or any other ties. I'm 5'8" and slim/average build.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Dorchester hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am a kind & polite, fit mid 50s male living in West Dorset on Jurassic Coast. I am very active & and enjoy walking the beautiful local coastal & rural routes. Not into gruelling walks but looking for some female or male company to accompany me on SW Coast Path and other well known walks in a 'not too seriuos' manner.
I live in the Bride Valley near the Bredys with instant access to lots of lovely walks but purely looking for a walking companion/friend. I have a wide range of interests,bit of a whacky sense of humour when appropriate. I lead quite a busy life hence would prefer to keep the walks to the West Dorset areas.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 60s, based near Bath hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: My name is Steve and I have just turned 67 and live on the edge of Bath. I lost my wife very suddenly 18 months ago and this has been difficult to come to terms with, we used to walk together. I have started doing more things and go walking with a group but that is not my preferred option as I like to be able to stop and take in the views when appropriate, this is not so easy when in a group.
If a walk can be combined with a pub visit part way through or at the end all the better.
I usually walk around 8 or 9 miles but can easily do up to 12 or so. Equally I am happy on shorter walks of 5 or 6 miles. We had completed over 75% of the SW Coast Path and I would be interested in other long distance paths such as Wainwrights.
My general interests centre around sport, heritage and environmental issues. I volunteer at a local city farm.
Locally I have walked a lot around the Mendips and South Cotswolds but have also spent a fair amount of time on the Quantocks, Exmoor, Dorset coast and East Devon areas. This summer I also have access to a base (caravan) near Sidmouth.
With covid restrictions hopefully ending and the weather improving I hope to be able to find someone to join me on walks.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 60s, based near Derby hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello, I am looking for walking companions. Living close to the Peak district, this is where I do most of my walking. I usually walk around 8_10 miles, but don't mind short walks too and like to take in the scenery, photography playing a big part of my memories. I have visited many walking areas and really enjoyed them, in particular the Long Mynd, Pembroke coast, Lake District, Devon, Dorset and Yorkshire.
At the end of a walk I find nothing to beat a hearty pub meal and a pint. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Bishop Auckland hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I have enjoyed hill walking since my childhood - alongwith a sense of freedom, space and challenge it helps me refuel my inner strength to deal with anything during the working week.

I moved up to Bishop Auckland in 2010 because of my love of hill-walking. I walked the Pennine Way in 1986 and always enjoy revisiting bits of it. More recently I've completed the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way,C2C,Offa's Dyke Path & Isaac's Tea Trail and hoped to complete Hadrian's Wall Path 2020 but didn't!!. In June 2021 I completed Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in 11.5hrs for Alzheimer's Society (that's me on the right of the photo). I enjoy regular walking in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland with a fantastic local fell walking club (which I help run) and am free many weekends and during the school holiday times.

My interests are all things musical and 20th Century painting. Looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2022!! Andy

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Peak District hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'd like to meet people to go walking with, and possibly a bit of kayaking and mountain biking. I love walking in the Peak District, Lake District, the South West and am starting to explore Scotland. I've done some kayaking in the South West and would love to explore other coasts, lakes and rivers. I also love sailing. I would especially like to meet someone to share winter walking adventures on snow.

I would like to meet other enthusiastic, outdoorsy, down to earth people who like exploring and who care for the countryside they love so much.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Gillingham hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I'm Paul and I started walking during the first Covid lockdown to improve my physical health and mental well-being.

I had also hoped it would reduce my waistline, but I like my food too much. Fitness has improved, but weight loss is still a work in progress. I have recently started indoor cycling as well to burn some more calories and wouldn't mind going for a bike ride either.

I've increased my walking distance over time and can now comfortably manage up to 10 miles a day and continuing to increase this further.

I've only walked around Kent so far and would like to walk further afield and see as much of the UK and beyond as possible. I'm self employed so pretty flexible when it comes to when I can walk and I drive, so travelling to meet up for walks is no problem.

I'm up for an adventure or challenge and equally like walking along the coast or in the countryside. Day walks, weekend walks, camping or backpacking are fine by me. Picnic stops to admire the views and visiting places of interest along the way, followed by a nice pub at the end of the day are some of my favourite things. I like most genres of music, have a wicked sense of humour and am very easy going.

If you would like some company on a walk or bike ride, please get in touch.
