I am a Male Walker, in my early 30s, based near Workington.

My Message: Hello, I'm a 32 year old male from Workington, Cumbria. I'm keen to get out in the fresh air and enjoy walking to see the sights. Unfortunately my Saturdays are taking up with sport through the winter so I mostly get out on Sundays at the min. In summer however I get out as often as possible. I'm interested in new friends who share the same interest as a lot of my friends are into different things.

Hope this does not put you off but have a son aged 10, who now and again comes with me to explore the countryside. I am 5'2 (small I know), brunette, medium build, average looking and truthful.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Kennington.

My Message: Hi everyone
I am very new to hiking on my own, and I am still breaking in new boots. I am interested in hiking to just about anywhere, days, weekends and holidays to different places of interest. I am 53 Petite, fit and healthy. I have sons who are in the British forces and an ex partner who is very into ACF. I have spent many hours watching my family and feel the time has come now to achieve things for myself. I have recently joined the London Adventure Group who have lots of hiking days and weekends, and I am looking for anyone who is interested in joining me on some of my hiking adventures and hopefully make some nice new friends along the way.

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Broughton Astley.

My Message: Hi, my name is Julie and I am looking to meet other walkers who are interested in walking locally and possible the Peak District. I would love to go hiking in other areas but for the moment I couldn't afford it. Being self employed in IT is hard to find work.

My level of fitness is OK but could be a lot better. I intend to take my dog with me, she is a 13 month Retriever and loves to walk, we do 2 or 3 miles most days. I believe up to 10 miles to start with is nothing I can't handle.

I use to hike in most of the national parks at least twice a month but finances have stopped that. Have walked the 3 peaks of Yorkshire in 11 hours, Ben Nevis and every where in the lakes.

Have started a local walking group but no interest of yet.

Look forward to your responses.

Julie

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Exeter.

My Message: I walk with a local walking group. I'm interested in finding a walking partner or join other walking groups to enjoy the British countryside. I live in a beautiful part of the country myself and enjoy walking around here - it is much nicer to share this with others. I'm a good strong walker, keen to keep fit, although I find map reading and using a compass quite difficult. So together, we'll be fine - and hopefully, we'll enjoy each others company.
I'm also keen to make new friends and explore new areas and what better way to do this than to engage in an activity that interests us all.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Stockport.

My Message: Hi my name is Jan and I live just outside Stockport. I do enjoy a good old ramble and scramble as long as I have a reward at the end like a nice warm log fire in a pub in the winter or a long tall glass of something in the summer!! Looking for some pleasant company to join me and share my enthusiasm for the outdoors. Have spare time during the week and at the weekends so if you are like minded and fancy a companion let me know! I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Doncaster.

My Message: Hi looking to meet new friends male/female/group for more challenging walks adventures;Cairngorns, Snowdonia, lake Dist etc. I'm 55 and live in South Yorkshire, I still consider myself fairly fit and will participate in most sports, I usually run 2/3 times a week as well as walking. Unfortunately most of my previous walking partners have either arthritic knees or have taken up golf. My wife is happy to do the low level fell walking but is not prepared to tackle anything more challenging, or if the weather is bad. I like camping as well as walking (I have some good equipment ) so combining the two would be ideal, athough BandB would be ok as well. I enjoy good company and conversation. Look forward to hearing from either individuals or groups. I will reply to all who respond.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Stratford Upon Avon.

My Message: Hallo and welcome. I am a fit and active lady living in South Warwickshire. I have walked this area over a 10 year period on mainly 5/6 miler walks. I would love to join up with new walking friends to enjoy this spirit-lifting amazing hobby with the addition of the finale in the lovely old pub for drink/lunch.

I've walked with 4 Walking Festivals recently - Isle of Wight, Derbyshire, Herefordshire and Crickhowell. I love coastal/cliff scenery and a favourite is the South Hams. I know there are many other such wonders to be found and look forward to finding them with new friends.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Manchester.

My Message: Hi. I'm looking for a walking companion, male or female as I either walk on my own or in a group. I like to stop, take breath, 'admire the view' and feel the breeze in my face with shared quiet enjoyment as well as having a natter and laugh along the way with a picnic or pub/cuppa at the end. I did a long multiday hike a couple of years ago but fitness has dropped and would like to build it up again. Saturdays/Sundays or the ocassional midweeker would suit me and I don't mind travelling.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Lichfield.

My Message: Hi, I moved down to the Worcester area last year and would like to meet female walkers for walks in this general area or further afield, I donít mind travelling to meet up or to explore new areas. I am reasonably fit and enjoy getting out and about discovering new places by finding walks off the beaten track, not to bad with maps!
I am semi retired and can meet up during the week or weekends.
Enjoy the countryside and will walk anything up to 10 to 12 miles but happy with shorter strolls as well. It is always more enjoyable with good company to have a chat with and the obligatory drink in the local pub afterwards (or en route!).
Hope to hear from you soon. John

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Eccles.

My Message: I currently organise walks for a small group of friends based in Manchester on a Sunday. We're a mixed gender group ranging in age from 40 to 50 (unless my nephew joins us and he brings the average age right down!). We generally tackle fairly easy rambles, usually involving a pub at some point. We enjoy the exercise but also love the conversations, which can range from politics to the X-Factor, depending on how high-brow we're feeling!
We're mostly single but we're not against married people joining us, as long as they don't hold hands the whole time (and yes, there are some people who manage that on a walk!). We're trying to build up our stamina over the winter so that we can tackle some longer, more challenging walks in the summer. We're never going to walk the Three Peaks in 24 hours (so we're probably not the group for the super fit among you) but doing a single hill/mountain in a day would be sufficiently enjoyable for us and I'm sure for many similar walkers.
We all enjoy the outdoors and go walking for the scenery, the companionship and the charming pubs (although there seems to be far fewer of them around).
We've a few walks planned over Christmas - nothing strenuous, fairly flat walks around Cheshire of about 9 miles if anyone's interested. Then we'll settle into a routine of a Sunday walk probably twice a month.

Prefor 7-10 mile walks and generally prefer hills though decidely a 'plodder' up hills now. Rambles OK as well, and shorter walks if local friend.
Any age/gender welcome if compatible walker.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Doncaster.

My Message: Hi everyone. After reading all the other Go 4 A Walk members it would seem most are prepared to walk any where in the UK. I must say I might seem fairly boring but the Yorkshire coast line, the hills and valleys of the white and dark peaks of Derbyshire and the Yorkshire Dales and wolds provide enough inspiration and views to relax the most stressfull parts of our lives. I am happy to walk 6 miles with a chat or 24 miles with aching knees. Kinder Scout under 6 feet of snow is brill. send me a message and stay near home in our wonderfull countryside

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Tewkesbury.

My Message: Well, I am up for just about anything with anyone. Young/old, male/female, etc etc. It's not that I'm not fussy, but I enjoy meeting and finding about new people, although finding a regular glutten for punishment would be good. I enjoy a good laugh and a chat, but equally happy just enjoying sharing the scenery in ' companiable solitude' - not sure where that one came from!!
My usual partners circumstances have changed - baby, moved away, and the other one, well she found herself a man.
I am confident with navigation, enjoy grade 1 scrambles -although I used to climb to a good standard and fancy taking on a bit more, although I have no kit now.
I am currently looking for work so have a reasonable amount of flexibility of when and how long I go for, subject to getting a pass from 'she who must be obeyed'! But not a problem.
I am up for wild camping - but prefer bunk houses/bothys this trime of year.

Would love to have a bit of a challenge in winter conditions, if someone is happy to share their knowledge, I am prepared to invest in more winter kit.

Equally happy to walk in the countryside or by the coast, just as happy with a flat or hilly terrain.
Also enjoy a bike ride. Then to finish off with a drink and a bite to eat.

I am a Male Walker, in my late 40s, based near Burnley.

My Message: Hi my name is Ian I am a 47 year old single male who lives near Burnley and is reasonably fit with a liking for the outdoors whether that be walking, conservation work, tending my garden or various other activities. I do most of my walking in Lancashire (Ribble Valley, Pendle and Silverdale areas) The Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. I have also completed a third of the Pembrokeshire coastal path and would like to finish it someday. I prefer to take my time and look at the view and the flora and fauna when I am out and not dash up a mountain because it is there. Having said that I have been known to go up the odd hill when I feel like it. At the end of a walk I like to find a nice tea shop for tea and cake, as I donít drink or smoke pubs are not for me, unless food is involved then thatís a different matter as I enjoy going out for meals.
I am looking for a lady of a similar age who does not smoke and is within a reasonable distance of me that would like to join me on my walks and possibly other days out.
