I am a Female Walker, in my early 50s, based near Uppingham, Rutland hoping to meet just Male new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Others describe me as smiley, bright and bubbly. I am very friendly and caring and love the company of adults and children alike.

I love being outdoors: walking, kayaking, cycling or just gardening. I am happiest up a mountain, taking photos and exploring new wild places. I am happy camping, Youth Hostelling or staying somewhere posh.... all part of the adventure. Special moments are enjoying a pack up sitting onto of a hill and admiring the view.

I've spent most of my life getting outdoors when I can, and need it for the health of body and mind. I will go out whatever the weather and actually like defying the elements when it chooses to pour it down and blow a hooley. However 18 degrees C, blue skies and puffy clouds are my favourite.

I'm good at navigation, and have my hill and moorland leader and gold mountain navigation awards. However, when I am on my own, I always have my GPS on so that I can double check where I am at all times. I like taking photos of anything interesting....and am trying to learn my plants and trees. I'm generally fit and healthy, but certainly get the aches after big adventures.

I also enjoy music and singing and play the violin. I am a Christian and try to live out love, joy, peace, patience and kindness. I have 2 amazing sons, both grown up now.

So do be in touch if you would like a walk together.

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

I am a Qualified Hill and Moorland Leader (formerly Walking Group Leader (WGL)) - Mountain Training Association.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my early 20s, based near Hatfield hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi there,

I'm a Portuguese 20yo studying physics in the UK and who loves long treks and challenging hikes.
I have been a scout for most of my life and that is how I developed some orientation skills and camping experience. (I am comfortable with topographic maps and compass)
Camped and walked around Portugal many times and now that I am living in the UK, I aim to become familiar with the different types of geography the country has to offer.

I consider myself to be quite upbeat and I don't mind getting myself dirty if the reward is to climb on top of a mountain, or reach the other side of a river, or stand over a breathtaking scenario.

As a scout, I am serious about keeping my activities as discrete and environmentally friendly as possible, therefore expect me to follow the preservation guidelines associated with the sites we explore.

As for now, I am looking to plan a long trek in Scotland, preferably with someone who has some experience and has had some familiarity with similar treks. I have been considering the Cape Wrath trail or trekking in the Cairngorms National Park, but any other suggestion would be welcome. I aim to spend the first two/three weeks of September trekking and wild camping (as I am about to finish a summer internship). Hence if you love hiking, have some experience, and would like to join, please message me!

Cheers,

Dinis

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 40s, based near Rotherham hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I am looking to meet people who own boots and wellies and don't mind getting them covered in mud. I am happy to meet people of any age who shared a love of the outdoors and doesn't mind me stopping from time to time to take photographs.

The Peak District is on my doorstep, but have walked in areas including Wales, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, Assynt in Scotland. I have been up Ben Nevis, Snowdon, and Scafell Pike, but would happily walk there again.

I have done the three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales but over a couple of days.

I work full time in a college, but school holidays and weekends I am free. Evening walks are possible if they are local.

My level of fitness is good and improving, though that is a story to share during a walk.

I am a life member of English Heritage and the National Trust. As such I can visit such places with a guest. I love photography, history, wildlife etc. I would rather not talk about education or computing (Unless its for a good cause).

My walking aims are to look at amazing views, Camp in amazing places including a plot of land I can wild camp on in Scotland, and just enjoy it all.

If you are cold, wet, have been rained on all day and can still smile then anything is possible.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Cairngorm National Park hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi all fellow lovers of the outdoors! My name is John and I have chosen to live in the northern Cairngorms because I love stunningly beautiful landscapes and amazing wildlife. I walk mainly in Scotland these days and although I'm now a bit of an old geezer I'm still pretty fit and really enjoy getting out and about in the great outdoors to experience new challenges and rewards. It's great to camp in wild, remote locations, swim in azure lochs and pure silver rivers and gaze at the starlight explosions of crystal clear night skies. If you fancy joining me on a walk or hike out then please feel free to drop me a message.

PS: Sorry about the photo-I can't manage to smile genuinly at a one eyed machine!

I am a Male Walker, in my early 70s, based near High Peak hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I've been walking mostly in the Peak District, where I live, and the Lake District recently. I've been ticking off Wainwrights and have only 8 to go and I've started on the Birketts. I'm a widower and retired so can walk midweek and have mostly been walking alone for a number of years. I'm very fit for my age and like longer mountain walks. I've also walked in France, Spain, Germany, Italy Greece and Turkey. I've even done a bit of sport climbing in the last few years - rock climbing was a passion many years ago. I've also rediscovered an interest in photography and have been a yoga practitioner for more than 30 years. I don't like walking in large groups unless it's just a social occasion (like a friends 80th birthday recently).

I am a Female Walker, in my early 40s, based near Preston hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi,
I'm Catherine, 42 from Preston. I have done quite a lot of walking, mainly in the Lakes and North Wales but other areas too.I would like to do more in Scotland. I have also done some treks abroad. I have previously walked a lot with my parents but they are getting past the long and high stuff now. Also I met a great walking partner on here about 10 years ago but she has moved abroad for work! I'm now struggling to get out walking as I don't want to go by myself. I love anything outdoors, pretty much any weather. I love camping and a good pint after a walk. I'm looking for people in 30's/40's who would like to go on day walks to begin with to see how we get on. Anyway, drop me a line if you'd like to make contact and get out walking. Thanks

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Bishop Auckland hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I have enjoyed hill walking since my childhood - It gives me a sense of freedom, space and challenge. I feel that it helps me refuel my inner strength to deal with anything during the working week. I moved up to Bishop Auckland in 2010 because of my love of the scenery. I walked the Pennine Way 30+ years ago and always enjoy revisiting bits of it. More recently I've completed the Dales Way, WHW, Great Glen Way, Dava Way,C2C,Offa's Dyke Path & Isaac's Tea Trail and hoped to complete Hadrian's Wall Path 2020 but didn't!!. In June 2021 I'll be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge for Alzheimer's Society.I enjoy regular walking in the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, the Borders and Northumberland with a fantastic local fell walking club and am free many weekends and during the school holiday times.I am a musician who teaches in County Durham schools and at the Sage Gateshead. Looking forward to hearing from you. Happy 2021!! Andy

I am a Male Walker, in my early 50s, based near Rugby hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi! I'm Andy. Having recently taken early retirement I want to spend as much time as possible walking and exploring our beautiful country (and abroad, when we're allowed!), something I didn't have enough time to do when I was working. I often walk alone, but it would be good to have company sometimes, especially on trips further afield and multiday walks. I go walking midweek (Monday to Thursday) which might fit your schedule if you work shifts or at weekends.

A perfect walk for me is one where you can constantly look around in awe at fantastic scenery, so I tend to gravitate towards hillwalking, mountains and coasts. I am reasonably fit and may walk up to 13 miles in a day, but I always look at the quality of the walk rather than the length, so often walk shorter distances. A perfect walk should also have some food and a couple of beers built in, either during or afterwards (preferably both!)

My day-walking in the past few years has been in the Peak District and The Cotswolds, as they are fairly local to me, but with longer trips to Snowdonia and Scotland. However, I am a confident navigator and am looking forward to exploring other areas of the country. I am a fan of staying in nice pubs with rooms when away from home for a night or two.

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I prefer warm, dry & sunny weather but can cope with the odd shower. Sorry, but I really do not like walking with Dogs. Even if I say so myself, I consider my map reading & navigation skills to be excellent. I can drive and have a car.

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Male Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Lake District hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hello!

Currently I'm on a mission to bag all of the Wainwrights. Did a lot of hiking in Europe and participating in races like the Harz Mountains 100km race when I was younger, and a lot fitter! I suppose I'm trying to make up for lost time as there was a time when walking to the pub was a challenge. No longer drink (but will have a 0% beer at the end of a long walk!), Vegan for 10 years. Mainly been doing low level walks in the peak district over the last few years along with Mam Tor, Edale, Kinder Scout etc but now concentrating on Wainwrights. I'm quite happy walking on my own most of the time but it would be good to walk in a group, or with other hikers who had a similar outlook on life. My ultimate aim is to be fitter at 60 than I was at 30!! So if you fancy joining me say hello :)

A bit more about me:

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs but do not have one of my own. To be honest, my map reading & navigation skills are a bit averagely average. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Camping on Campsites - Camping where there is a shop, toilets, showers & possibly a pub;
  • Wild Camping - Camping out in the wilds well away from anyone & any facilities;
  • Peak Bagging - where the aim is to climb all the hills or mountains on a particular list such as 'bagging' all the Wainwrights or Munros;
  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Female Walker, in my mid 50s, based near Stafford hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi, I live in the Staffordshire area and would like to meet male and female walking partners to walk locally and explore more of the UK. I walk my dogs each evening after work and like to try new routes over the weekend. I enjoy walking in the Peak District over the weekends as that is doable in a day. I am keen to learn new walking routes and I am open to suggestions. I am reasonably fit and can do a bit of scrambling but am not a climber. My map and navigation skills are not good, so would welcome someone with these skills so we don't get hopelessly lost (currently relying on google maps). I am easy going and enjoy cafe's and country pubs as part of the walk. I also enjoy theatre, comedy, eating out and riding pillion.

My Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5:6:7:

My Preferred Walk Areas:
North West Scotland; North East Scotland; Southern Scotland; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire; The English Midlands; Wales; East Anglia; The Heart of England; South East England; South West England; Ulster (Uladh), Ireland Connacht, Ireland; Leinster (Laighin), Ireland; Munster (Am Mhumhain), Ireland;
(click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there)

A bit more about me:

I can cope with a little bit of scrambling if it is short and there are no steep drops. I'm happy to walk in all weathers - sunshine, snow, hail, wind & rain - bring it on. I like walking with dogs and will bring my own. Sadly, my map reading & navigation skills are pretty hopeless. I can drive and have a car.

I am also interested in:

  • Long Distance Path Walking - Multi-day walks like The Pennine Way, Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk;

I am not actively looking for anyone other than a new walking companion but if that right person came along . . .

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Basingstoke hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: So glad that it's not long before we can start to plan new walks and won't be restricted to local walks.

I now work part time so have plenty of time to go walking locally and nationally. I am friendly and reliable and like to chat on a walk.

I am looking for people who love walking and are looking for someone to join them. I would like to meet someone who is also interested in walking some of our long distance paths. Sometimes we need a bit of motivation and encouragement and it is always better to have some company and support. Distance and speed are not that important. I equally enjoy local half day walks in the south of England to all day challenges in the mountains. But, it's always nice to end up in a country pub at the end of the day.

I am a reasonable map reader and whilst generally cautious by nature, I am fairly confident in the mountains. I have a car so can travel as necessary. I like to chat about about most things and it would be a bonus if you had a good sense of humour too. I'll try to respond to all responses.

When it comes to Scrambling & Edges I'm OK with the occasional edge or scramble but don't go looking for it. With regard to the weather, this is the UK so it's going to rain sooner or later isn't it? Fine with me, I've got waterproofs. I'm not bothered about dogs one way or the other. I'd say my map reading & navigation skills are pretty good. I can drive and have a car.

Important: For the avoidence of doubt I am definitely not looking for anything other than someone to go walking with.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Northumberland hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Fit active gay women (just saying so it's not awkward) wishing to meet like minded either gay or heterosexual women. I am happiest when I am walking up a hill. I love that feeling when you reach your destination, take a pew and look back down at the beauty of your surroundings. People are far far away below, the traffic is else where and you can hear the silence........magical!!

Unfortunately none of my friends like to do more arduous walks. I have walked on my own for years...well not exactly alone. I have always had a dog. I would love to walk with others who are as passionate as me about walking in the hills.

I am a Female Walker, in my early 60s, based near Stroud hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I've been walking for the past 20 years. For a long time because of work commitments and raising my children I didn't have time for long distance walking, but now I have time and am keen to do as many as I can. I'm particularly keen to do the Beacon Way (Brecon Beacons), Coast to coast, and The Two moors way, to start....But I'm open to any long distance walks. I know the days are getting shorter but I'd love to get in a few long walks before the end of the year. If interested, male or female, please contact me. Many thanks Mary

I am a Male Walker, in my late 50s, based near Birkdale hoping to meet both Male and Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: I like to get out in the hills as often as possible but I don't go bagging Munros just to get back and tick it off a list.
I go to enjoy the beauty of our country and take my time and breath in fresh air.
I love Caledonia, the north west highlands to me are the most beautiful place on planet earth and I've traveled extensively.
I don't go climbing or in the snow and ice anymore as I have done in the past.
I don't mind it being cold and fresh though. I always go into the mountains fully prepared, map, compass, waterproofs etc. Just common sense things because anything can happen at any time.
I have done a lot of walking in Scotland but also enjoy the lakes, and the dales etc, doesn't have to be a long or high up walk, pleasurable and fun is what it's all about to me.
Would like to meet others to enjoy a good time out and about, not just on high peaks, any walk can be a good one, it's what you make of it. Finding a nice pub at the end is a bonus too.
I'm going up to the north west highlands from 15th June for two weeks and going to tackle Slioch, An Teallach, Stac Pollaidh, Suilven amongst others. Cape Wrath too.
Before that I hope to be up in the lakes most weekends depending on the weather.

I am a Male Walker, in my early 60s, based near Shrewsbury, Shropshire hoping to meet just Female new friends to go walking with.

My Message: Hi Folks
I've recently rediscovered my love of hiking and camping after years of neglect - one small positive to come out of Covid....I'm looking for some walking buddies to help push, drag and cagole me back to where I was years ago!

I've had to cancel treks to Everest Base Camp twice due to different reasons - fancy trekking in Nepal?

Fairly relaxed about venue although Wales and Peak District closest and no real aspirations apart from EBC sometime. Only relevant hobbies are running (Coach with a running club) and photography. 🙂

Be nice to hear from you.
Best wishes
Glenn
