Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is the highest point in the county of Gwynedd, the highest point in Snowdonia National Park and the highest point in England and Wales.

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) means 'The Burial Place' in Welsh and is pronounced 'ur-oo-ith-va'.

The summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is marked by an Ordnance Survey Trig Point.

The building on the summit of Snowdon (Hafod Eryri - The Snowdon Summit Visitor Centre and Cafe) is thought to be the home of the highest house mice in England and Wales!

Melfyn Parry climbed Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) on January 16th, 2021 [from/via/route] Start point Rhyd Ddu car park at SH438681, setting off from left side of car park, proceed along to gate at SH582524, then continue along path through disused quarry workings to SH604522, here route turns left to ascend Snowdon south ridge, steep in parts but clear path to follow. On reaching summit of Snowdon at SH609543 reverse route & descend to junction of Rhyd Ddu path at SH605537 where path veers of right to descend to Llechog ridge. Follow ridge line & then path leads back to gate at SH582524, this time turning right to return to car park. [with] PRC [weather] Very wet & windy in the morning with some hail. Brightened up in the afternoon & ended up with sunny spells.
