Kevin Foster conquered Great Knoutberry Hill (Widdale Fell) on July 6th, 2017 [from/via/route] Widdale bridge [with] By myself (and Henry my Labrador) [weather] Hazy sunshine with a pleasant breeze (distant views lacked clarity) - The walk in the book seemed too short so decided to turn it into a bit of a leg stretcher by setting off from Widdale bridge instead. Iturned up from the Widdale-Dent bridleway for the climb to the summit trig point just before Cross Gates after encountering a group of Duke of Edinburgh awardees. I then had the rest of the walk to myself. Best bit was the magnificent views down Dentdale on the descent off the fell & picking up the wonderful green lane back to Widdale.
