John Bryers walked up on July 8th, 2020 [from/via/route] Used route C226.pdf. Parked on Dunmail Raise lower layby and walked down road to Mill Bridge. Due to erosion sign posts took me on the higher route on the Coast to Coast path, thus missing turn at the 2 footbridges. Walked direct to Grisedale Hause and turned left up to top of Seat Sandal. [with] With Mya my faithful 13 year old Patterdale Terrier. [weather] Cloudy with some sun. Cooler on the tops. - Lots of walkers on a Wednesday due to covid-19 still about. Layby before Travellers Rest full!
Christine Shepherd climbed on August 15th, 2008 [from/via/route] Walked from Grasmere using walk c266 [with] On my own [weather] Bright and clear - Climbed again on 2.11.17 from Grasmere, really clear with brilliant views. .
Kevin Foster bagged on October 24th, 2019 [from/via/route] Patterdale [with] By myself. [weather] Blue skies (cloud developing later on Striding Edge and Helvellyn). - The route from Dollywagon Pike to Seat Sandal is indicated by a prominent metal fence post and is direct. A steep descent to the col followed by an equally steep slog beside a ruined wall makes a beeline straight for the top. By this time the sun was shining sun beams through the clouds and the light picking out the Lakeland fells was magical. After another steep rocky descent to the col with Fairfield I took the higher path skirting Grisedale tarn, intending to climb to the col the other side of Fairfield with St Sunday Crag., however common sense got the better of me as I realised I probably didn't have enough daylight hours to finish the next two tops so I called it a day and made my way down the Grisedale valley instead.
Christina Lander hiked on October 31st, 2019 [from/via/route] Grasmere - Stone Arthur - Great Rigg - Fairfield - Grisedale Hause - Seat Sandal - Grasmere [with] Dick & Meg [weather] Beautiful, sunny day, windy and chilly
Andrew Johnson summited on October 2nd, 2019 [from/via/route] Bramcrag quarry. Car left in Grasmere. Bus to Thirlmere dam road then bike to Bramcrag quarry, [weather] Sunny weather
Richard Marchant conquered on September 29th, 2018 [from/via/route] This route was the first leg of the British Athletics Fell Relay Championship. We were reccying the route prior to the race in a few weeks time. We parked on the road just down from the Travellers Rest Public House and made our way up Tongue Gill to Grisedale Hause the up to Seat Sandal and left the top in the Southernly direction down to Tonguegill Force and back to the car. This turned out to be my 86th Wainwright [with] Tom my youngest son [weather] Clean blue skies but quite chilly, dry and very windy on the tops. - 86th Wainwright
Wayne Baxter scaled on April 10th, 2019 [from/via/route] From lay-by near Stanan walked up sticks pass, right at the top to Raise, Whiteside, Hellvellyn, Nethermost Pike, Dollywagon Pike and Seat Saddle. Down Tongue Gill. Bus back to Stanan [with] Sue [weather] Cloudy with a strong east wind - Steep decline from Dollywagon and what a climb up Seat
John Tippins walked up on October 26th, 2018 [from/via/route] Started at Red Bank Road car park, Grasmere. Route c266 go4awalk.com [with] Solo [weather] Very dramatic sky when I left the cottage - bright sunshine and dark clouds. The sky darkened on the way to Grasmere, then it was blanket cloud, then it started raining, then the sun came out, then it started snowing. It was sunny and bright the rest of the day but the northern wind was bitterly cold - minus 12 with wind chill, so the forecast said.
Simon Boddy climbed on October 7th, 2018 [from/via/route] Dunmail Raise [with] My girlfriend [weather] Misty and chilly
Lucy Perchard bagged on September 5th, 2018 [from/via/route] the Helvellyn range ascending from Legburthwaite to Sticks Pass and then along the ridge to Raise, Whiteside, Lower Man, Helvellyn, Nethermost Pike and Dollywagon Pike, then down to Grisedale Tarn, back up to Seat Sandal before descending down to Grasmere. [with] Tony [weather] Mostly sunny - Had been lulled into a false sense of security with easy walking along the Helvellyn Ridge from Raise so was a bit of a shock to the legs to descend right down to Grisedale Tarn to then have to haul back up again to summit Seat Sandal
