Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) means 'The Burial Place' in Welsh and is pronounced 'ur-oo-ith-va'.

The summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is marked by an Ordnance Survey Trig Point.

The building on the summit of Snowdon (Hafod Eryri - The Snowdon Summit Visitor Centre and Cafe) is thought to be the home of the highest house mice in England and Wales!

Melfyn Parry walked up on January 16th, 2021 [from/via/route] Start point Rhyd Ddu car park at SH438681, setting off from left side of car park, proceed along to gate at SH582524, then continue along path through disused quarry workings to SH604522, here route turns left to ascend Snowdon south ridge, steep in parts but clear path to follow. On reaching summit of Snowdon at SH609543 reverse route & descend to junction of Rhyd Ddu path at SH605537 where path veers of right to descend to Llechog ridge. Follow ridge line & then path leads back to gate at SH582524, this time turning right to return to car park. [with] PRC [weather] Very wet & windy in the morning with some hail. Brightened up in the afternoon & ended up with sunny spells.

Neall Garrad climbed on June 22nd, 2007 [from/via/route] 15 peaks route from Nant Peris to Llanfairfechan [with] Andy, Chris, John and Warren [weather] Mixed

Iain Ballard bagged on August 16th, 2020 [weather] windy to begin with then sunny

Mark Smith hiked on March 13th, 2011 [from/via/route] Rydd DDu route, 3 times [with] Parents, alone [weather] Beautifully Sunny & thick cloud - The route down the was very testing - muddy & badly eroded by cattle

Iain Jones summited on April 3rd, 2010 [from/via/route] Llanberris [with] Ben's Stag Do - 12 August 2012 - walked from Llanberris as part of National Three Peaks Challenge; 17 January 2016 - walked from Pen y Pass via Pyg Track/Miners Track; 1 April 2017 - walked from Nant Gywnant via Watkin Path; 6 October 2021 - Trail Run from Pen y Pass to Llanberis via Miners Track & Llanberis Path

Keith Axell scaled on September 3rd, 2014 [from/via/route] Straight from campsite as the crow flies, through the quarry & the across fields & streams, passed a lake, until we hit the Ranger path before it gets steep. [with] Colin Axell, Steve Keevil, Adam Killey, Ben Boyle [weather] Nice day - Saw used as frying pan to cook sausages. Tent pegs as stoppers so sausages did not roll off.

Tony Halliday climbed on June 29th, 2019 [from/via/route] stayed in a bunk house foot of snowden excellent weather good company right good laugh started llanberis [with] sally halliday jimmy boo and George our 3 dogs nic and ian o tony chall and wife jill bo millie and her friend [weather] really good weather conditions until the summit very cloudy last 3rd - really good weekend good weather good food great company & excellent walking avery busy lots of sheiks one of their religious days
