Bearings when Navigating with a compass
Hi just a query about compass navigation. The scenario is, that you have worked out a bearing with the map and compass from a to b. On the route from a you encounter a obstruction which puts you well off the initial bearing. My question is... do you still follow the direction of travel arrow on the compass as you still have the needle in the north arrow.(red on red) (does the fact the needle still points north, give you still the correct bearing) or . . . should you stop and recalculate a new bearing for the target (b) from your new location. thank you. This question may save me a lot of bother, cheers Tom
