The Art of Getting Lost
Part 2. How you know when you're lost.
You know you're lost when:
1) You're in the Peak District and you pull out a map of the Three Peaks.
2) Something is there that shouldn't be. (eg a reservoir)
3) Something isn't there that should be. (eg a small market town in Cleveland)
4) The answer to the question "which way did you come up?", receives an extremely surprising response (See Part 4. What to do when you're lost)
5) The sun is going down in the East, North or South.
6) The big round hill you've been climbing for three hours has a sharp, rocky top with gullies and scree runs on all five sides.
7) The sardines come out.
8) You discover your own footprints heading in another direction
