new Male Walker, 58, based near Southampton

Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. If this is the kind of life-changing experience you have been looking for, pop me a line.

new Female Walker, 59, based near Littlehampton

Message: Hi I live in the South Downs area and havn't explored much of it as yet, so I am looking for someone to walk with locally in the afternoons, either in the week or at weekends. It doesn't have to be a regular thing, a one off walk would be fine. There are lots of interesting local walks. I like to walk at a reasonable pace, about 6 to 8 miles in 2 hours, unless very steep hills(not many of those round here), stopping to admire scenery, taking photos, looking at flora and fauna. I like wild plants and am also interested in finding fossils. I love dogs so canine companions would also be welcome. (Accompanied by owner!!)

Message: Hi all, I am a jovial, fun and can be a chatterbox with the right company, and surroundings I am confident with. Normally I am quiet and reserved, I like to observe, take in my surroundings, and make decisions based on my capabilities and safety for both myself and others. . . that said, I can be a bit of a Daredevil if I put my mind to it!! I like trying new and some oddball/ obscure things to do! Like sitting in a deckchair outside in the snow having a BBQ in Wales on Boxing Day. . But then again mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun!. . . Question is. . they must have been having a dream, I have not seen much Sun recently. . does it exist. . Does anyone fancy coming out walking and camping, in search of this holy grail. . . That UFO- the SUN !! I am sure we will get rained on in the process. . . This is Britain. . . . Come Shine or Heavy Rain/ Snow!! I would normally prefer to travel as greenly as possible, by bicycle, on foot, using public transport etc, ( I have a car licence-but no car). I usually find most walks start in obscure places away from Bus/Train stops/ stations, so finding my way around places can be interesting to say the least!. . . . At least if I take my many photographs, I might be able to find my way back on my Digital photo path, assuming the camera batteries have not gone flat!!! So if you fancy some Left of centre intelligent and sometimes rambling conversations with a choatic forgetful, late for his tea and sometimes oddball guy, then I am your man. . . If you are a conventional person who smokes like a chimney, please keep on walking past my profile. . . . I like Wild camping, I live in the Wilds of North Cumbria and I like the Wilder side of Life!!? Anyone fancy a brew???? and a BBQ midge sandwich?? I hope there are some other outdoor nuts about??

new Female Walker, 34, based near Romford

Message: When I first moved to the UK from Canada, one of the things that I looked forward to most was walking in places where I didn't have to worry about bears or overly-aggressive deer! Five years on, I've managed to climb Snowdon, bag a couple of Munros (including Ben Nevis), and been on several mid-length walks from places as varied as Unst in Shetland to the North Downs Way, but that's about it. I would describe myself as a woman who is young at heart with a good sense of humour. I enjoy comedy, theatre, films, reading and history. I'm reasonably fit, a dog-lover (in spite of not having any of my own at the moment), and happy to travel to meet up for walks - or pitch in for petrol - as needed. I'm good at reading maps, but my compass using skills definitely need some work. As I work full-time, any walking is limited to weekends and school holidays.

Message: Hello, I'm planning to walk the Coast to Coast route over 2 weeks starting from St Bees sometime between May 9-12. If you are interested in joining me to do part or all of this walk, please get in touch and I look forward to hearing from you. I'm a keen Long Distance Path walker interested in walking more of the UK's LDP's with anybody keen to join me to walk as a pair, either for single days or longer sections. Prefer one to one interaction rather than being in a group, equally able to provide stimulating conversation or remain silent as and when appropriate, like to cover some reasonable ground, but not at the expense of taking in the scenery and enjoying the time and space walking gives you to think, as well as the euphoria of a well earned drink and meal at the end of the day. I have walked Hadrian's Wall Path, the Camino Frances route of the Camino Santiago from St Jean to Santiago and Finisterre/Muxia, and the Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal. I live local to the South Downs Way and am keen to complete the western half of this from Amberley to Winchester, either in one day or longer sections and at anytime forward. Intending to walk the C2C path (St. Bees-Scarborough) and the West Highland Way/Ben Nevis/Great Glen Way (Glasgow-Fort William-Inverness) next Spring (April/May/June 2013) and keen to hear from anybody interested in these two routes, or indeed any other walks you are interested in doing and would like a walking partner; happy to travel anywhere in UK by car or train. Look forward to hearing from you, John

Message: Hi My name's Angie and I'm looking for a male to accompany me on my walks. I'm fairly fit, hoping to do some good long distance walks and looking for someone to introduce me to the excitement of hillwalking and getting off the beaten track - I don't really have navigation skills yet but am keen to learn. I love Snowdonia and the majesty of the mountains but quite happy to explore anywhere and everywhere off the beaten track. I enjoy a hard day's walking but am equally happy to stop and enjoy the view while taking a well earned breather. Message: Hi My Name is Geof. I am a 64 year male. Based in Gosport, Hants. I walk at least one day a week, up to 8 - 10 miles typically at a reasonable pace if its easy going, a little less and more slowly if hilly. But I do like to stop and enjoy the scenery and the wildlife and usually with a pub visit somewhere on route. I would like to get out two or three days a week, and am free most weekdays and weekends for walks anywhere in the South Coast counties, and with the right company am interested in some longer walks in other parts of the country. I am retired so have all the time in the world for walking, some boating in the Solent and touring in the motorhome. The latter, as a basis for walking further afield anywhere in UK or Europe. I have a particular passion for the west of Scotland and would like to find a companion to spend some time walking in that area.

Message: My name's Kathy and walking is really important to me as it gives my life perspective. When I'm out in the countryside or mountains, everything becomes more manageable just through the natural beauty around me. The places I've stipulated are more familiar ones, but I like exploring as well. I've also loved walking on Majorca and in Bosnia. I visit Cumbria often, renting a cottage and planning walks for the week. I recently spent a few days in the Cotswolds, much tamer but only two hours away, so great for a quick getaway. Please get in touch if you'd like to try a walk - I'm a teacher, so have lots of time in the holidays and on light summer evenings. as well as weekends. As I need to develop my map-reading skills, confident navigators are welcome!
