new Female Walker, 55, based near Littlehampton

Message: Hi I am 55 and love to walk. My adorable Labrador Alfie my constant walking buddy is now 12 and unable to cope with distance or challenging terrain. Married with two college age boys and hard working husband. Live only 5 minutes stroll from the English Channel and the back drop of the South Downs with its extensive walking path routes. I travel to Austria almost every year to hike/walk whilst my husband finds the road cycling routes. I work part time with flexible hours. I am looking for female walking buddies for walking all levels weekdays and/or weekends close to home or further afield. I would like to conquer the West Country and South Wales Coastal Paths. I am interested in architecture, flora and fauna, wildlife and also any walking routes that are themed. I am quite a brisk walker but like to stop and take in my surrounding. I look forward to meeting you. . . . . . . . . . . Recently obtained NNAS Bronze Certificate.

new Male Walker, 66, based near Aylesbury

Message: Hello, I am retired and single with plenty of time to indulge my love of walking. I walk sometimes alone and sometimes with local walking groups. I would very much like to expand on that by finding a new friend or friends to walk with on a one to one basis. I live in Aylesbury so the Chilterns are on my doorstep but I am more than happy to try other areas. Recent walking holidays were in Wales and Yorkshire and I was born and raised near the Lake District. I am more interested in spending time in the outdoors, stopping to enjoy the views and ending in a pub, than in ticking off particular challenges. A typical walk for me would be between 6 and 12 miles. More than that on a good day! If that sounds good to you drop me a line and we can take it from there. Brian

new Female Walker, 63, based near Liss, Hants

Message: Hi there, I am Cheryl, new to the site and still trying to find my way around. I have a young and positive outlook on life and am told I look a lot younger. If I could engage in lots of long walks I would, but I have osteoarthritis which hinders that. I am a Holistic Therapist and have managed to stay away from pain killers, preferring supplements and gentle exercise. I appreciate the many benefits of spending time in nature, and as I live in the South Downs National Park, I am never short of areas to explore. I'm never happier than when out for country strolls with a friend, sometimes stopping off for a picnic, or coffee at a nearby pub. I am looking for male/female company interested in 'relaxed' walks where we can enjoy the fresh air, chat and take in the surrounding beauty, and would love to hear from anyone who feels the same. I once joined a group walk, but didn't enjoy it and much prefer one to one company. I have only listed local walking areas, but am not adverse to trying others. Looking forward to hearing from you!

new Male Walker, 48, based near Guiseley (Leeds)

Message: Although I do enjoy short single day walks, I prefer when possible to do a full weekend or longer multi day when ever get the chance. I've never used B&B, preferring instead to use either Youth hostels/bunk barns, as I find them super friendly places & certainly much better value for money. Over the years I've always walked alone as I find this allows me to use my good map reading skills to plan my own routes & walk at my own pace. As well as using the hostels I usually always carry full camping equipment when away too as this allows me the option to walk & finish when & where ever I please on a night. Although I'll always meet others while on route walking, it still tends to get a bit boring sometimes & I often wish I'd someone else to chat to. I tried group walking with a club once, but although I found it very friendly I don't think it's quite what I'm looking for. I'd like to meet another walker of around the same age & ability, who's also into my style of walking & who's also got quite a reasonable amount of spare time on their hands. Due to carrying a large 75-10 rucksack & all this eqp't on multi day walks I'm not looking for the kind of routes where you scramble up a steep mountain side like a squirrel on steroids! only to give myself cardiac arrest on reaching the summit - can't see any fun in that!!! Quite happy to walk in all weather conditions & any time of the year. Also happy to camp anywhere when needed, although I usually try & finish near civilisation & a pub on a night. All the best; Steven.

Message: Hiya, I'm Lynn alias 'Miss Outdoorsy' as staying at home drives me up the walls! I like anything outdoors, love adventure and travel and my passion is mountains. I love the ridge and scrambling routes and have done Crib Goch, Snowdon, Striding Edge and Swirral Edge, Sharp Edge in Lakes to name a few. I've done a lot of walking in Peaks, Snowdonia, Lakes, Brecons, Yorkshire Dales and love them all. I'm just as happy with a hike in the Peaks as scrambling up Sharp Edge. I live near Chesterfield so Peaks and Yorkshire Dales are easy for me to get to but I don't mind travelling. Im very easy going with good sense of humour & like the well deserved stop in the pub at the end of the walk! Well I'm Scottish after all! Would love to hear from you for hiking soon.

Male Walker, 61, based near Belvedere

Message: Hi, I'm Tim, 61, fit, active, lots of energy and stamina, looking for a female walking companion. Any age or ethnic origin is welcome, but I am an atheist, and there's not much point in us being too philosophically dissimilar. I live on the London/Kent border but have walked extensively in all areas of England and Wales and bits of Scotland (only the distance has kept me from doing more). Have walked most hills in the Lake District and Snowdonia and nearly all the national trails and many others. I love the UK coast and am always ready to walk any part of it, as well as local paths such as the North Downs Way and South Downs Way. In fact, I'll walk anywhere and at any time - it's what I love to do. Hopefully I'm well-rounded and I also love music, books, maps, nature, history, buildings, etc. Friends have said that I'm funny, kind, intelligent, sensitive, a good conversationalist - still, what do they know? Any companion would hopefully soon be a friend but I'm very open for this to develop into a girlfriend/soulmate/life partner situation. And if it doesn't there'd still be a good walking friendship. If any of this appeals I'd love to hear from you.

Female Walker, 55, based near Shaftesbury

Message: Hi, I'm married to a lovely man, but he doesn't like walking. I have set myself the target of walking the SW Coastal Path, and have completed the first 70 or so miles from Minehead, alone, but would much prefer to be with other(s), from a safety point of view and generally having company. I like to do 8-13 miles a day, and enjoy the occasional cuppa along the way/something stronger on completion maybe. I think I'm easy going, pretty bad at map reading (attending a course soon), have a sense of humour and enjoy a bit of a challenge. In the future, I would like to do many other National Trails, and am happy to find accommodation for longer stints away. My puppy may want to join in at some point, so would prefer a dog lover, but that's not a deal-breaker. Would be delighted to be contacted by men or women of any age and enjoy a pace of 2. 5-3. 5 miles per hour, according to terrain.

Message: Hi, I'm new to the site, love walking of course, and now I'm retired I have a lot more time to get out and about. I walk quite regularly with friends but as they are all still at work this is confined largely to weekends. We've enjoyed tackling many of the long distance paths, in sections, over the years. I walk a lot on my own too or with my dog but would like to meet a like-minded male walking buddy, preferably reasonably nearby. It would be good perhaps to share some Wainwright bagging or explore new areas more or less anywhere in the British Isles or even beyond. There are so many places I still want to see and it would be great to do so in good company. If this sounds of interest I'd love to hear from you.

Message: Hi My name's Kate and I'm really interested in improving my walking skills and seeing and enjoying much more of the outdoors, both at weekends and also when I'm free mostly at weekends but sometimes during the week. I'd really like to try new walks and challenges, beginning in the places I've mentioned. I would enjoy some company for this and to maybe have time to have a drink/coffee and chat with, at the end of a walk. I am very interested in meeting people to walk with who might introduce me to new walks, but in a low key, not too serious way. I hope to find folk who want to try regular outings for fun and adventure and to take in as much scenery as possible. Please get in touch if any of this this resonates with you. I shall look forward to hearing from you. Kate

Female Walker, 55, based near Devizes

Message: Hi, I live in Devizes in Wiltshire. I'm not thinking of "route marches" here, just pleasant walks and chats, time to look at the surroundings, maybe ending up at a nice pub for lunch! I'm pretty easy going and happy to meet males or females to enjoy walking with. I work Mon to Fri but free evenings, weekends and holidays. I love natural history, the coast, hills, woodlands. .

Female Walker, 63, based near Farnham

Message: These boots are made for walking. . . . Hello I'm a 63 year old female living near Farnham, looking to enjoy female/male company to explore the wonderful countryside that we live in. I consider myself fit and healthy and happy to walk near or far. Like to discover new places to walk. It would be great to meet fellow walkers who have a positive outlook and who have the ability to escape the more serious side of life with a little friendly banter. I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Female Walker, 70, based near London Ontario

Message: Hello fellow walkers. I am a 70 year old Canadian female coming to Stratton near Bude for the month of October 2017. I hope to do sections of the coastal path, perhaps more of the Jurassic Coast and possibly Dartmoor. I am a steady walker having completed 100 km of the Camino de Santiago and can anticipate doing up to 12 mile walks over reasonable terrain. Last May I completed the Coastal Path from Penzance to the Lizard finding it challenging but rewarding. Sections of the Jurassic Coast path while less challenging were also completed last May. I would not consider myself to be capable of steep elevations over a short period of time but more leisurely climbs are OK. About Me: When not out and about I knit, cook, read, putter in my garden, lunch with friends, visit art galleries/museums and travel. I hope to meet for good exercise, conversation and social times as I love to end my walks at a pub or café. Get in touch if you have an interest in joining me.
