Message: WANTED - PARTNER FOR PYRENEAN WALK FROM ATLANTIC TO MEDITERRANEAN. I'm Steve, an experienced walker looking for a m/f partner to share the above challenging hike with me in 2014, largely following the 500 mile route of the HRP (Haute Randonnee Pyreneenne). Expected duration is around 6 weeks, long enough to really enjoy the experience rather than treat it as a route march. Young or old, age is immaterial, and whilst physical fitness is desirable you don't need to be an athlete. Rather more important is mental toughness, determination and a personality compatible with mine. I live near Southampton but will consider potential partners anywhere in the country provided we can get in some practice walks together. If this is the kind of life-changing experience you have been looking for, pop me a line.

Message: Hi, I am an experienced walker who is able to do 10-20 miles comfortably. I walk weekly with two groups but am looking for keen walkers to do more adventurous walks and enjoy the great outdoors with on weekends away and hols. I have a good knowledge of the OS maps and compass. I am a working mum of two and my husband is not one for country walks, So I am able to do day walks on Sundays (Saturdays, if child care can be arranged) and can go away during school holidays . I enjoy walking at good pace ( some say fast) and like learning about people, things and places of interest. I like to describe myself as an around good egg! So if you are like minded, I am happy to try out day walks to see how we get along. Thanks for reading. (Box no: 104500)

I have 2 dogs (a cocker spaniel and a terrier cross) who are both very well behaved, but would enjoy the company of human beings too! new Male Walker, 43, based near Leeds

Message: I first started walking about six years ago & really started to enjoy myself right from the start. I don't mind short one day walks, but always prefer when possible to do a full weekend or longer multi day walk when ever i get the chance. Never use B&B unless I'm forced - always preferring instead to use either hostels & bunk barns when available as I find them much more friendly places & far better value for money. I always give myself the option of camping on walks so always carry full eqp't when I'm away - quite happy to both wild camp & walk in all weather conditions too. Over the years I've always walked alone as I find this allows me to use my good map reading skills to plan my own routes & walk at my own pace. Although you meet others while walking it still tends to get a bit boring sometimes & i often wish I'd someone else to chat to. I tried group walking about 18 months ago & although its very friendly I don't think it's quite what I'm looking for. I'd like to get to meet another walker - preferably a female of around the same age & ability, who's also into my style of walking & who also has quite a lot of spare time on their hands. Due to carrying all this kit I'm not looking for the kind of walks where you've got to go racing up a steep mountain side like a bionic rat up a drain pipe! only to give yourself cardiac arrest - no fun in that!!! Trying to get a photo on here at the moment too, but having problems - give it another try.

Message: Hi, I'm Jane, 58 year old fittish female living in Southampton. I'm seeking likeminded walkers male or female with or without dogs to walk with two or three times a month, preferably at weekends. I have two male border collies. I walk approx. 3 miles a day during the winter and clock up more mileage in summer, mainly in country parks. I'd really like to spread my horizons and meet new walking buddies. I have excellent endurance, enjoy good conversation about anything and everything, and would like to explore new places and share new experiences with likeminded souls. I've graded myself at 1 to 4, not because I can't walk 10 miles a day, but because I don't have time to do this on a regular basis. I work Monday to Thursday, and enjoy a three day weekend. I'm up for pub lunches, coffee and cake or even a picnic. If you're local or further afield and think we may get along, I look forward to hearing from you.

Message: Hi all, I am a jovial, fun and can be a chatterbox with the right company, and surroundings I am confident with. Normally I am quiet and reserved, I like to observe, take in my surroundings, and make decisions based on my capabilities and safety for both myself and others. . . that said, I can be a bit of a Daredevil if I put my mind to it!! I like trying new and some oddball/ obscure things to do! Like sitting in a deckchair outside in the snow having a BBQ in Wales on Boxing Day. . But then again mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun!. . . Question is. . they must have been having a dream, I have not seen much Sun recently. . does it exist. . Does anyone fancy coming out walking and camping, in search of this holy grail. . . That UFO- the SUN !! I am sure we will get rained on in the process. . . This is Britain. . . . Come Shine or Heavy Rain/ Snow!! I would normally prefer to travel as greenly as possible, by bicycle, on foot, using public transport etc, ( I have a car licence-but no car). I usually find most walks start in obscure places away from Bus/Train stops/ stations, so finding my way around places can be interesting to say the least!. . . . At least if I take my many photographs, I might be able to find my way back on my Digital photo path, assuming the camera batteries have not gone flat!!! So if you fancy some Left of centre intelligent and sometimes rambling conversations with a choatic forgetful, late for his tea and sometimes oddball guy, then I am your man. . . If you are a conventional person who smokes like a chimney, please keep on walking past my profile. . . . I like Wild camping, I live in the Wilds of North Cumbria and I like the Wilder side of Life!!? Anyone fancy a brew???? and a BBQ midge sandwich?? I hope there are some other outdoor nuts about??

Message: When I first moved to the UK from Canada, one of the things that I looked forward to most was walking in places where I didn't have to worry about bears or overly-aggressive deer! Five years on, I've managed to climb Snowdon, bag a couple of Munros (including Ben Nevis), and been on several mid-length walks from places as varied as Unst in Shetland to the North Downs Way, but that's about it. I would describe myself as a woman who is young at heart with a good sense of humour. I enjoy comedy, theatre, films, reading and history. I'm reasonably fit, a dog-lover (in spite of not having any of my own at the moment), and happy to travel to meet up for walks - or pitch in for petrol - as needed. I'm good at reading maps, but my compass using skills definitely need some work. As I work full-time, any walking is limited to weekends and school holidays.

Message: Hi My name's Angie and I'm looking for a male to accompany me on my walks. I'm fairly fit, hoping to do some good long distance walks and looking for someone to introduce me to the excitement of hillwalking and getting off the beaten track - I don't really have navigation skills yet but am keen to learn. I love Snowdonia and the majesty of the mountains but quite happy to explore anywhere and everywhere off the beaten track. I enjoy a hard day's walking but am equally happy to stop and enjoy the view while taking a well earned breather. I love company and am keen to share my enjoyment of walking and the outdoors with a likeminded male so we can both gain more from our shared experiences. Message: I've always enjoyed coastal walking and love the sea. I know and love the Dorset coast. It's beautiful at any time of the year. Although I've put mainly the South-West as my areas of interest for walking, I'd love to go further afield if I had company to walk with - singles or couples - I don't mind which. I work full-time but can arrange to walk at weekends or school holidays. I'm happy to try something a bit challenging rather than a gentle stroll and I'm handy with a map and compass. I'm originally from Scotland but moved to South Cheshire a few years ago so fairly new to the place & looking to explore. I have three dogs all Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which i would like to take walking with me (not on the harder routes though) so if you have a dog or don't mind fury animals then I would love to hear from you whether it be a lazy stroll or something a bit more energetic!.

I am reasonable fit for my age and trying to get fitter and more healthy, so hope maybe getting out walking could kill two birds with one stone and meet people and get fit! I would like to do challanges liek the three peaks in the future but must get out and about first! I did do snowdon a few years ago but would not mind doing it again maybe a different way as it was really foggy when we went up!!

Male Walker, 64, based near Gosport

Message: Hi My Name is Geof. I am a 64 year male. Based in Gosport, Hants. I walk at least one day a week, up to 8 - 10 miles typically at a reasonable pace if its easy going, a little less and more slowly if hilly. But I do like to stop and enjoy the scenery and the wildlife and usually with a pub visit somewhere on route. I would like to get out two or three days a week, and am free most weekdays and weekends for walks anywhere in the South Coast counties, and with the right company am interested in some longer walks in other parts of the country. I am retired so have all the time in the world for walking, some boating in the Solent and touring in the motorhome. The latter, as a basis for walking further afield anywhere in UK or Europe. I have a particular passion for the west of Scotland and would like to find a companion to spend some time walking in that area.

Preferred Walk Area: (click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there) The New Forest : The South Downs : Dorset : East Sussex : Hampshire : The Isle of Wight : Surrey : West Sussex : Highland and The Isle of Skye : The Western Isles : Pembrokeshire

Preferred Walk Grades*: 1:2:3:4:5
