new Female Walker, 34, based near Romford

Message: When I first moved to the UK from Canada, one of the things that I looked forward to most was walking in places where I didn't have to worry about bears or overly-aggressive deer! Five years on, I've managed to climb Snowdon, bag a couple of Munros (including Ben Nevis), and been on several mid-length walks from places as varied as Unst in Shetland to the North Downs Way, but that's about it. I would describe myself as a woman who is young at heart with a good sense of humour. I enjoy comedy, theatre, films, reading and history. I'm reasonably fit, a dog-lover (in spite of not having any of my own at the moment), and happy to travel to meet up for walks - or pitch in for petrol - as needed. I'm good at reading maps, but my compass using skills definitely need some work. As I work full-time, any walking is limited to weekends and school holidays.

Preferred Walk Area: (click each link to see other walkers wanting to walk there) The Brecon Beacons : Dartmoor : Exmoor : The Lake District : Loch Lomond and The Trossachs : Northumberland : The North York Moors : The Peak District : Snowdonia : The Yorkshire Dales : The Cairngorms : The Pembrokeshire Coast : The Broads : The New Forest : The South Downs

Male Walker, 55, based near Haywards Heath

Message: Hello, I'm planning to walk the Coast to Coast route over 2 weeks starting from St Bees sometime between May 9-12. If you are interested in joining me to do part or all of this walk, please get in touch and I look forward to hearing from you. I'm a keen Long Distance Path walker interested in walking more of the UK's LDP's with anybody keen to join me to walk as a pair, either for single days or longer sections. Prefer one to one interaction rather than being in a group, equally able to provide stimulating conversation or remain silent as and when appropriate, like to cover some reasonable ground, but not at the expense of taking in the scenery and enjoying the time and space walking gives you to think, as well as the euphoria of a well earned drink and meal at the end of the day. I have walked Hadrian's Wall Path, the Camino Frances route of the Camino Santiago from St Jean to Santiago and Finisterre/Muxia, and the Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal. I live local to the South Downs Way and am keen to complete the western half of this from Amberley to Winchester, either in one day or longer sections and at anytime forward. Intending to walk the C2C path (St. Bees-Scarborough) and the West Highland Way/Ben Nevis/Great Glen Way (Glasgow-Fort William-Inverness) next Spring (April/May/June 2013) and keen to hear from anybody interested in these two routes, or indeed any other walks you are interested in doing and would like a walking partner; happy to travel anywhere in UK by car or train. Look forward to hearing from you, John

Message: Hi My name's Angie and I'm looking for a male to accompany me on my walks. I'm fairly fit, hoping to do some good long distance walks and looking for someone to introduce me to the excitement of hillwalking and getting off the beaten track - I don't really have navigation skills yet but am keen to learn. I love Snowdonia and the majesty of the mountains but quite happy to explore anywhere and everywhere off the beaten track. I enjoy a hard day's walking but am equally happy to stop and enjoy the view while taking a well earned breather. I love company and am keen to share my enjoyment of walking and the outdoors with a likeminded male so we can both gain more from our shared experiences. A nice meal and a bevvy at the end - who can ask for more!!

Message: Hi, Love being outdoors, love walking and being in nature. I'm looking and hoping for company on a few walks.Walked the Camino de Santiago this year and need to get out on a few more distant walks, all walks considered long or short and will travel to most destinations. Don't mind walking with groups or individuals . Happy to share with dogs as I have one of my own but she is too old and a little lazy these days so can't take her with me. Can go most days unless I'm away working but pretty flexible. Happy to do full weekends and not too past it to camp wild if required but very happy in a Guest house or hostel. I'm reasonably fit as I train most days and practice martial arts too so most paces ok with me as long as now and again we can have a stroll and take in some scenery my marathon running days are sadly over. Message: My name is Kenrick and I am a keen walker, looking for some one to walk with. I live on the south Coast and happy to travel. I prefer 1-1 more than groups. I love the Peaks, Lake District and the Brecon Beacons and would enjoy being introduced to other areas. I am in training at the moment to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in October, though this is the first big challenge I have ever done. I like walking 10/15 miles, though I would like to try some longer walks such as the Norfolk Coast. I enjoy MTB at a fun level and have kayaked a bit, but would enjoy the chance to do more. Male Walker, 44, based near Windermere

Message: Hi, I am Graeme, a 44 year old male from Windermere, looking for female walking partners of similar age, and a love of walking the Lake District fells as well as other areas. I am young at heart, resonably fit (like to think so anyway), and also enjoy running and open water swimming. Over recent years I have completed the C2C and the West Highland Way, nothing I like better than walking all day then setting up camp and relaxing with food & beer and beautiful scenery, would be nice to have someone to share it with, as my friends seem to prefer spending time in the pub. I am interested to hear from anyone of any ability, who would like to do some walking in the Lakes but I am also willing to travel to other areas. I am Interested in day walks, short walks, or long distance walks. I will be more than happy to show anyone around my part of the world should they wish to visit.

Female Walker, 45, based near Bournemouth

Message: Hi. I am 45yo. , well travelled, usually quite sporty and active person: hiking, travel, cycling-to-get-away, walk-to-reach-the-distance, camping by the lake or the sea around a bonfire, hot sauna with a winter swim, cross country skiing and a hot drink by the fireplace. . . , - all this might tell a bit what I am made of and what made me feel happy. I was travelling most of Europe, but now I would love to dare to do some serious walk in most of UK places. I live South Centre of England - Bournemouth. Often I was just grabbing my back and getting away. But last couple years I had quite to slow down. Getting back on track is not an easy task, and sometimes you just need a bit more motivation than dream. I decided to join this site with a hope to get hooked, get involved. Regards. In.

Female Walker, 65, based near Halstead

Message: I live in North Essex and initially would like a companion for coastal walking in Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk but with opportunities to go further afield and up into the hills in the future. I prefer ambling to route marches as I love looking at the scenery, plants, rocks, wild life etc. as I go. I'm trying to improve my map reading skills as my sense of direction is virtually non-existant (one reason it's good to walk on the coast!) so if planning and map reading are your strengths I'm willing to exploit them.
